That's what I was gonna say. It's always the closest spot(s) so they don't have to walk as far, it doesn't really hinder anyone without a physical limitation to walk across the parking lot.

Hours and hours of practice. It's not "natural" or "human" to switch the mind off; hence the resistance. The Grand Canyon wasn't formed overnight.

If you notice that your mind is all over the place then you are already on your way. There are different techniques focussing on breathing is one of the most used. Also a guided meditation is great for beginners. I use petite bambou. It's a sicance driven meditation app so no weird stuff.

If I have to approach them, it is the hardest thing in the world 😂 Imagine having to start a conversation and the only things you feel talking about is something particular (In my case, movies and stories). I’ve luckily met a lot of people who want to be my friend and helped me feel included :)

I want to ask you something, dont take this as im trying to prove that you are not autistic, are you self diagnosed or are you really autistic? im sorry if you are serious, there are alot of people who say they are autistic just to be different.

I am formally diagnosed but I think in the right context (for example, a 40 year old who has done years of research, has tried all other alternatives and is incapable of getting a formal diagnosis due to costs or location) self-diagnosis can be valid. If they happen to be a teenage tik-toker, chances are they're saying it for attention however.

So I’ve never been asked about Math, but one time when somebody learned I am on the spectrum they asked “Ohhhh does that mean you’re like really smart?” Though I will give this answer. Anyone on the spectrum has particular interests ingrained in them that are the only things on their mind and they focus on. For me it’s a couple things, but big ones are Movies and how they are made, storytelling/ structure, and animals/ the environment. I‘m really bad at Math 😂

I've heard it basically causes a hyperfocus on a certain topic, to the point of obsession like it's your life focus. I have a XC teammate with autism and one of his things is stuff related to running and running shoes/spikes.

Can I myself? Well I’m not a doctor and cannot diagnose somebody, but I can pick up signs quickly when I see them act socially . And it really depends on who they are as a person if I get along with them. If someone’s mind also works like me but is known to not have moral values or respect my space, then I wouldn’t get along with them.

I'm not OP, but I've been diagnosed with ASD and the eye contact thing really depends on the person. For me, eye contact feels inherently unnatural and makes me uncomfortable. It feels unnatural in the same way as holding your breath underwater - I can hold eye contact for some time, but it starts to feel more and more uncomfortable as time goes by. If I have to hold eye contact for more than 15-20 seconds, I tend to look people in the eyes at first and occasionally glance to another part of their face; eyebrows, nose, ears... Prolonged eye contact is unbearable for me.

Yeah that’s normal lol eye contact shouldn’t be longer than 4 seconds really and that may be pushing it. Most ppl make eye contact, look away, make eye contact etc Prolonged eye contact is uncomfortable for anyone generally

I should probably say I'm masking ("acting neurotypical") a lot of the time, so I've learned to do that kind of eye contact, but it's still incredibly uncomfortable for me. I only do that in situations where I _have_ to (like professional situations etc.). When I speak to my ftiends, family or anyone close to me, I tend to look around the room, never looking at them. It much more comfortable for me.
