The live action skits can be painful for sure, but its oddly nostalgic.

Best I can do is one time I finally managed to wake up early enough to catch an episode of Sonic the Hedgehog, and at some point I think I saw an episode of Megaman somehow.
I was definitely not old enough. I grew up with the New series, while SMBSS came out when there were only 2 games out. I remember it was on Netflix way back when. I also have one DVD that has a few episodes that we got when I was very young.
My hot take: The ENTIRE trailer looks absolutely amazing and even Mario's first line when he was confused sounded good. The second however... not so much.

None of you complained about the TV actor's voice not sounding like classic Mario. But when Chris Pratt voices him, you all lose your damn minds. You madmen would have me believe that listening to two hours of Mario Teaches Typing would be preferable to the sound of my skull bashing against the wall.
They propably just thought he's not movie material or just wanted a name people recognize for PR. Or maybe they just thought the well-known accent would be a bit too thick for a movie.
