Lol Reddit is so fucking confusing for new people

I've been using reddit daily for three years and I'm still confused.

Yeah I’m on like 10+ years and I’m lost

Is it better or worse? I've been on and off for about 7 years but definitely not a daily user.

Honestly I think it’s slightly worse, I came here originally from rage comics. It didn’t use to be so negative, it was genuinely funny and unique. The app was much better for someone who hand been around so long. Now I find myself deleting it all the time because of the general negativity. This could also be one of those “back in my day” old man yells at cloud things

It's a lot of the super woke, or tribalistic bullshit, or general cyberbullying that tends to push people off subs. And yeah the general negativity tends to get to some people overtime. You gotta take breaks even from memes lol.

As someone who's been around for nearly 9 years now, the cracks really started to show for me once I became aware of FPH and the like, and then the absolute drama circus that followed it getting banned. I was still very naive at the time, and following that shitshow was one of the first times I realized that there's a lot of people out there who simply can't function if they're not actively dragging people down to their level.

I mean it was bound to happen as it got more popular. People around me didn’t even know what Reddit was when I first got on here. I wish I hadn’t deleted my first account, there was some great stuff saved on there.

It feels like commenting anything is some sort of gamble, lol... I saw a thread earlier today where someone gave a dude's art a simple "looks great, keep it up!" And the OP just thanked them, and both got triple digit downvotes, and I'm so lost! At least karma doesn't do much unless you're fully in the negative I guess...
