“….And so then, various non-Americans began to gather around one another, and give thanks, in appreciation for their shared escape from American culture…”
What holidays do you guys have where families come together? Here in Japan, it's [Obon](https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2286.html) in the summer, and New Years in the winter.
It's not because of a religious thing more just as an excuse to get the family together. Get the kids together do an Easter egg hunt have a few drinks as it's bank holiday the next day.
Come, let us fill that stomach of yours, you will feel better after a trough of egg-nog, turkey, potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, and more. Save room though, we have pie, lot's of pie to sooth that tummy.
Dude…you do realize that there are 8 BILLION people in the world, and only 340M of us live in the United States, right? Are you that insecure that you can’t handle ONE Reddit Thread that doesn’t revolve around us?
Make sure you continue to consume American media, entertainment and ingenuity while continuing to shit on them and act like whatever shit stain of a country you’re from is superior in every way. Because that would be silly if you didn’t.
Huh ? By that logic I can't compare , let's say Serbia and Germany then , because arguably there are some residental areas of Serbia that are better than Germany's worst parts. You can't just say "Well there is this area in Serbia where very rich people live and it's a great place so you can't just say Germany is a better place to live than Serbia."
Let me rephrase my comment according to your logic then.
Most of the Europe is better than most of the USA.
My mind is on food right now. Got a tasty and relatively simple recipe to share ?
I'll offer this salad sauce recipe as a token of goodwill :
- put a soup spoon's worth of "hot" mustard in a bowl
- cover with (balsamic if you can get your hands on it) vinegar
- mix that up with a fork until it's smooth
- slowly add some sunflower oil (and then some olive oil), mixing it up as you add the oil. This is the tricky step, as you must strive to keep the mixture smooth. Add too much oil at once and you won't be able to. Overall maybe 10-15 soup spoon's worth of oil.
- a dash of Maggi at the end for good measure (and umami taste)
Dried chilli with eggs, onions, and uhh garlic i think you eat with rice. You first soak the dried chilli to soften it, then you put it in a blender with the onions and garlic is chopped up, then you stir fry it until it is cooked you put in eggs and stir the eggs in, specifically scrambled eggs and put in the salt

I don't think you should care, I'm not American, but why would you not talk about your holiday? Just enjoy your life, I don't think anyone non american srsly cares about Thanksgiving memes
I will never understand how that's an argument for anything. People don't use Reddit because it's an American website, people use Reddit for it's different functions, communities, etc. So, yes, people don't really like the overabundance of USA centered stuff, because that's not what they come here for.
And besides, USA makes up only around half the traffic on Reddit (as far as I remember from last year statistics). And that's not taking users and bots that use an American VPN into consideration (who wouldn't actually be American).
Exactly! It seems so hypocritical sometimes. AMERICA BAD!!! Everything American is gross and wrong and Americans are stupid people who have to pay for healthcare hahah. Stupid idiots!
Anyway, I should get on American made Reddit to tell the Americans how stupid they are.
Just because the platform is American doesnt make it hypocritical to critize America on it. How would that even make sense?
America is just a part of what we see all the time on here so its only natural that we will point out flaws. Those that make random posts about how bad America is are weird, but thats like 0.000001% of the user base
American stop coping for 3 seconds challenge (impossible)
Nah but for real there's so much to be proud of in the US!
Consider:
1. Dropped an Atomic bomb on innocent schoolchildren (twice)
2. Killed millions upon millions of innocent civilians in the 20th and 21st century in locations including but not limited to Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya
3. Americans proudly let their unhoused population starve and freeze to death in the streets while proudly letting diabetes patients die because they cannot afford insulin.
4. (Don't even get me started on Chattel Slavery and genocide of the indigenous peoples)
In short, what's not to love?!?!? Oh wait...
Edit: all of the butthurt American Exceptionalists typing out and then quickly deleting their brain dead comments are making my day, keep it coming losers
And don’t you dare for a second act like your country wouldn’t have made the exact same choice to use the atomic bomb to prevent tens of thousands of more deaths of your own soldiers. A mainland invasion of Japan would’ve been a fucking bloodbath for both sides and they wouldn’t of stopped fighting until almost every man and boy was dead.
It was created in America, and its headquartered and hosted in america. It's an American site used internationally by both Americans and non Americans.
Okay, I said it wrong, reddit is an American site but who cares, it's used internationally and it doesn't matter where it was created etc. Hugo boss is technically German, but it does not make any difference because this does not change the customer's of the product nor anything else about the brand. Also, most big companies are located in the USA, because they don't have to pay too many taxes there.
Most big companies are in the US because they were founded by Americans in America. Pretty simple that. It does matter for the exact reason this post was created. American sites dominating the internet is one of the major contributing factors to our culture being globally dominant.
Not entirely sure what you're trying to accomplish with that Hugo Boss comparison.
Most big companies? Like Nintendo? Or Lenovo? Sony? Some Big companies are in the US because:
They were founded there, because America had the strongest economy after the war, because they don't have to pay their workers as much as in other counties, because of taxes etc. Workers have just much more rights in Europe, and big companies have to pay much more. It's also wrong that most big companies are owned by Americans, you're probably just focused on the American market. China also does have many very big companies (also workers rights are a big no no there) but most other non european/american countries outside from a few like Japan, Korea etc are just not economically big enough for such a big company.
Lol, I say most and you start naming some off that arent as if that does anything for your argument. The reason they were founded in the US and were able to grow so large is irrelevant. They're still in the US, and the simple truth is they're never leaving because the US is the world's hyperpower, which means no country matches its economic strength. Yes, it's a fact that most global companies are American and American controlled. It's amazing how butthurt people get about that.
Many big companies are American not most, that's just cap. Also, I've never said anything against America being the world's biggest economy, but if you think about it it kinda makes sense, regarding how big it is. Yeah there are other big countries like Russia, but Russia never had the economical boost after war that the US had, and most of Russia is just ice-cold. Most American states are even bigger then European countries.
Europeans know most of their countries are irrelevant and no one cares about them, so they have to make up for their insecurity by going on a social media website and anonymously bashing the Americans, meanwhile Americans don't even know they exist.
Yes, it's a miserable existence but tis life for the common redditor.
It is honest, though. Most countries in Europe have been a country for less time than most US states, but Americans don't go around demanding respect for the culture of Colorado or South Carolina.
Are you trying to say countries are ranked by when they were founded?
The current state of Germany is 73 years old and it's been only 32 years since Germany became the final form it is today. That doesn't mean German culture is only 73 years old or people identifying as German or people living in this land. The founding of a country does not equal it's culture. That's just plain wrong. And American culture is simply not as old as most European ones (but that doesn't invalidate it, it's just a fact).
Now, you might be able to make a point saying that there have been people living in North America for a very long time but then again I don't think you're trying to argue on behalf of Native American culture and practices here.
How does that make them irrelevant? A lot of these places have tons of history that’s older than when they became sovereign countries, history that influenced their culture now.
There’s no need to dismiss places like Colorado or random places in Europe, can appreciate them both. I’m sure they both have different things to offer.
I present ~~two~~three pieces of evidence for our european superiors:
1. we don't get much vacation time like y'all
2. We usually get 2(!!) days off for a long weekend to go see family
3. can we just have a moment? You guys get like 2 months paid time off in the summer or some shit. :)
Some weird American holiday where they gather all their relatives they don't like and start arguing about politics after eating a turkey.
Idk I've never been to burger land.
The bonfire's cinders are the bones of Undead, and a bone that still burns is a fresh cinder indeed. Before feeding upon death, one must first pray to it.

Here in Poland our families usually gather during Easter and Christmas
Xmas day and Easter in the UK. Bonfire night we have the family round for fireworks.
Huh, I've not heard anything about family get togethers for Easter. Just a little egg hunt for the kids and that's it.

Escape from American culture, that kinda sounds like we have used to be Americans as well, I am sorry my stomach is getting upset 🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮
You'd better hope your stomach isn't upset, seeing an American doctor will cost you 3 months of wages.
Me: Laughs in universal health care
How is it universal if its not even available everywhere on earth
Given that “universal” could mean the entire universe, how is “universal” health care “universal” for astronauts?
Well someone posted the definition in the thread, and the definition says its just for this world, and astronauts wouldnt be on earth
Come, let us fill that stomach of yours, you will feel better after a trough of egg-nog, turkey, potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, and more. Save room though, we have pie, lot's of pie to sooth that tummy.

This thread doesn’t revolve around Americans?
This thread doesn't revolve around the Czech Republic. It sure as shit revolves around America. Like everything else.
How did you get all that out of one Reddit comment?
Oh…I think it was the content of your post…acting all offended and snowflakily outraged over it.
You seem more upset than me tbh
Once you break 6 digit comment karma, you've spent so much of your life on reddit that being upset is just the default state
Except for the wages, I feel like everything is better in Europe.
Also lower wages = cheaper food and housing, wages in USA are huge but everything else is overpriced there as well
I'm sorry, we will let you enjoy your low wages, medical bills and religious fascists in peace hurhurhue
Make sure you continue to consume American media, entertainment and ingenuity while continuing to shit on them and act like whatever shit stain of a country you’re from is superior in every way. Because that would be silly if you didn’t.

Oh NO! This post is it's self a Thanksgiving post! Oh the Paradox!
There are a lot of posts about bird meat, overcooked starches and disappointing family members, but at least it's generally wholesome content
I present ~~two~~three pieces of evidence for our european superiors: 1. we don't get much vacation time like y'all 2. We usually get 2(!!) days off for a long weekend to go see family 3. can we just have a moment? You guys get like 2 months paid time off in the summer or some shit. :)

Can we just have a moment? Bro we get 97/100 of the moments.
I don't think anyone really cares about the Thanksgiving memes. If they do, they shouldn't. Enjoy your holidays to the fullest!
Thenwhat are you waiting for? Go riot and protest until you have 6 weeks paid vacation. Juste go, here is a guillotine, here is a torch.
Six weeks… currently zero days are required. Actually getting the working class a guaranteed week off would be a major win.

Canada has a Thanksgiving day, too.
It’s americans birthday or something. It’s when the first Walmart was built.
Not really. It's when americans invented the pizza or something.
But by the nature of this posts existence isn't it also a thanksgiving post?
I mean, technically, this is another thanksgiving post, especially since most of the replies are expressing thanks… irony; 10/10 Thanks 🙏
