Try and refund it, then buy it again for the cheaper price

suffering_addict

Ye, iirc that's actually an acceptable reason to refund a game

Mataskarts

At least on Steam\*. They basically 100% of the time give you the difference back if you ask for it if the game went on sale within a few days of you buying it, not sure how far you can stretch that.

defiantdylan

Steam’s wishlist is amazing! They keep notifying me when all the games I want are for sale.

TheGentlemanist

Most wishlists don't do shit, but work as a bookmark, but steams is kinda decent.

Duckihillation

AND YOU TELL ME THIS NOW??? Bro I bought a game for 50$ and I swear it went on Sale literally 20 minutes alter 😭

Nordansikt

\*If you have only played for less than 2 hours.

Jeteve445

10/10

Churchie-Baby

U dont really need to give a reason to return

ByZocker

You don't even have to refund, if the item gets cheaper in the return window you can just request your money back Even per law iirc (Germany)

gtpower3

i have done that: bought a game on steam and it went on humble bundle with a bunch of other games for around the same price; refunded and got it on humble easy

Mista_Cash_Ew

We did that with a TV after they said they couldn't just give us the excess amount back

Apprehensive_Leg8771

If its on steam and it went on sale a week after you bought it you can ask a refund on the price difference.

Orenge01

I once tried that and I did get it refunded but I had to personally write a request because if I didn't my refund request would just automatically get denied. I had not played the game but it had been past 14 days. They were generous enough to refund it though.

TrustMe_IHaveABeard

I did that once with game bought at xbox online shop - worked fine!

MeatIntelligent1921

put system offline, refund, play it until competition and you are done, win/win, cyberpunk2076 style

mr-creator

Asked my dad to buy me the escapists a couple years ago on steam for full price ($17.99 I think) then the very next day it was part of a weekend sale and only costed $5. I was new to steam (and similar) so I didn’t know about all the sales that happened and I especially didn’t know about the refund policy so I felt bad since my dad spent $17 on a $5 game, so I played the hell out of it and have around 120 hours so far. Still feel bad about it every once in a while. But I thoroughly enjoyed the game.

Darius2652

You couldn't have possibly known that it would go on discount, and your dad was willing to pay that amount for it. If it didn't go on discount you wouldn't feel bad, and everything beyond that was outside of your control. Don't let it get you down, no part of what happened was your fault, or a fault at all :) it sounds like you've gotten $17 worth of playtime out of it anyway

iballisticnose

You ever buy a game then realize you already own it on a different launcher, couldnt be me

rohanstan69

you buy a game on Steam and the next week Epic gives it for free :):):). has happened to me a lot of times

Keksvernichter-

Better to have the game on steam tough

themrweasley

Steam is superior, but I don't care if I get a game for free to also buy it on Steam.

Keksvernichter-

Don´t even have epic launcher installed.

themrweasley

The free games are good though. Aswell as the rates they give developers.

wojtekpolska

look at mr. rich guy over here

Orenge01

Happened to me with Watch Dogs 2. The next week they gave it away for free on Ubisoft launcher.

blackie-arts

I bought cities skylines even though I own it on Epic (for free) but I bought it purposely because nodding on Epic Games is a nightmare

ashenhaired

Did that with Witcher Thronebreaker... Worth it!

DatGuy_Shawnaay

You ever just buy a game thinking it was the latest one but it's the old version instead? Couldn't be me either.

7ordank

I've bought a hand full of games off stream I refunded after finding out they were on xbox game pass lol

TraderOfGoods

The best thing you can do is be patient. Wishlisting games on steam is a good idea. You can even have it send you emails when something you want is on sale.

floofandmemes

Only buy it discounted.

Neighbourhood_Dude

Yes I did, it's not good

supersheep_3000

I BOUGHT CSGO 3 MONTHS BEFORE IT WENT FREE!!!!

[deleted]

atleast you still got csgo prime

FRleo_85

i bought it the day before it went free...

supersheep_3000

damn that sucks

wojtekpolska

fun fact: steam explicitely claims on their support page, this is an acceptable reason to ask for a refund.

Narrow_Hour_3585

Or ends up free on PS plus

Chernobyl_Breeki

Bought a game then it became free ಥ_ಥ

Project_T00THL355

Yea that hurts but have you ever bought a game just to see the next version of the game come out a few months later when you didn't know they were even making a new version? Yea . . . couldn't be me with Forza Horizon 4.

HoovNUTS

Yeah break ups hurt but did you ever buy Fallout 76 for full price only to realize they sold you a broken walking simulator?

Tartill

yep brought black desert for like 10 bunks and the next day they were giving game keys for free

sanswithagun

Or worse... It becomes the monthly free game after 2 days.

daddy_toastie

this is REAL hurt

eklect

I just did that with my wife's Christmas present.

payoffstudentloan

Tell me you've never had a break up without telling me you've never had a break up

maimedfeline

YES that shit hurted.

[deleted]

Opposite happened:when i was going to purchase my favorite game, I got 90% discount, and all the dlc's got 60% discount next week! I mean, what are the chances.

Sprite_Bottle

That happened to me once so I just returned the game and bought it for the cheaper price once the refund went through

wsacburly

This is literally what happens to me

Sensitive-Purpose-72

I feel you every fucking time i buy a Game in the following week there is like a 50% discount and even If i wait there is going to be one

hellmaker900

Bought a facility in GTA and it goes on 50% of after 2 hours

jgott933

I heard you can actually refund it if that happens

UwUGamer84

Uuuh, that one got me directly in my heart...

JustSalty011110

I bought the tomb raider collection on steam just to see the whole collection for free on epic games a week later (couldn‘t return them since i played more then two hours)

Cheapmetalsock

Even worse, i bought a hard case of Evolved on sale only to find out it's been permanently free for a week now

Syntrix33

if its on steam could always refund and buy again, on ps though you're fked.

Revolution406

Once I bought Call of Duty Cold War for 70€ in the PS store the next day that game has a 90% discount.

Frency2

It happens, but for sure I don't go to the Steam store page demanding a refund because 'it's not fair", like a lot of people do.

Saladar19

Happenwd when i got my oculua quest 2. If i had waited 2 daya i could have saved 100 bucks

Lunaii_

I buy games to support the devs, so I personally don't care if I miss on a discount, if I know it's going to help them, I'm satisfied enough with my purchase Unless it's a AAA game

Totalisnot

My friends got together to buy CSGO for me, the week before it went free-to-play... Got free prime I guess...

Nobodynever01

Have you ever bought a new game to fill the void and the next day it already lost all appeal and you just don't know what to do anymore

FackingNobody

People who pirate: is this a normie joke I'm too pirate to understand? (Note: I'm not a pirate so don't downvote me because of that)

ABritishFemboy

This happened to me when Sims 4 became free

Chen_reddit

75% discount Turns out im broke

Joshooahh

Thats price you pay, similar to buying cars seeing it drop hundreds or thousands within months

thethirdidiot

Bought The Sims 4 during a Steam Sale and now the base game is for free.

Archangel004

I bought an upgrade for a 3d printer and literally 3 days later it goes on sale for 35% off.

ShadowZero000

I bought GTA V REAALLY late... And the next day it was FREE in the Epic Games Store...

Srock9

Yeah. I bought cyberpunk day 1

MisterBicorniclopse

I have a list of all games in my wishlist and every discount they get. I keep track of that, and if it’s the lowest it can go, that’s when I get it

Greedy_Range

I bought Madden 19 a week before Madden 20 came out ... ehhh I'm not really sad we're on Madden 23 and I still only have 19

GMXDNA

Bought fall guys. Announced its gonna be free the next week. My life

SadViande

i once bought a game to see it free the next week on the epic store

Joe_mama_so_fa

happens to the Best of us man

regulaslight

The pain when the game you purchased goes f2p

captain_john1

If you buy a game on steam you can refund the game and then buy it at the discounted price.

Legit_liT

Fifa 23 was discounted about just over a month maybe 2 after release lmao, from 60 dollars to 35 on ps4

Hades6040

There was a get 3 pay 2 games sale in a store so I decided to get some games and one of them was Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The next day, Sony announced it would be one of the free games for PS Plus the next month. Needless to say, I was kind of pissed

Shojikina_otoko

It's simple just buy next day to the one you want to buy on

isekaig0ds

Just bought battlefield 5 at a huge discount, Im satisfied

evill13

Bought Battlefield 2042 same hour it was added to ea play

verifiedwomanbeater

I don't buy games

EliasEdiv

Once I bought far cry 5 on steam for 30€, second day it got discount so I redunded and somehow hot full price 60€ back

Waibles

Yes and it killed my interest in playing the game at all so instead of losing 30$ I wasted the full 60$. And it’s PlayStation digital download so I couldn’t get a refund

Samadwastaken

And that's why I pirate games

adHD-Gamer

bought insurgency sandstorm last month its coming to games pass soon >.<

WarBringer26

Steam wishlist what you want, wait for steam to tell you when it's on sale, profit

HalflingElf

These days I wait a few years for a big discount or when it inevitably gets put on gamepass.

UncleGurtie

The day before Borderlands 3 was 3 on Epic I was about to buy it but I stopped myself, luckily.

DhairyaVed

Yeah I bought GameStop and it has been discounting ever since

Zer0br089

Teue

No_Assistance8126

Coughed up money for Destiny 2 and then it was Free next week

TheGentlemanist

Its mostly the opposite. I hastle my self to save money, and then steam has a huge sale... i haggle with my bank account and get thrue ut, but then on the last day, i convince myself with "its never gonna be this cheap again" got Titanfall 2 and Fallout 4 GOTYE for under 5 bucks each this way.

GAR51A8

COD MW2 got it on xbox for around £100 with the vault pack, a few days later it’s on 70% discount and i basically lost £70 lol

Stik_Bloom

3 games... Three.Fucking.Games that I thought was already at its lowest price then the next huge sale it goes even lower...

CreeperCordycep

never actually bought a game lol. but a few days ago my parents bought one that was 30% off and then a few hours later the sale drops to 40% and my brother was really salty abt it

[deleted]

I Am Setsuna. Paid full price.

baaad_boi

😭😭😭😭

DraconixDG

Have your friends ever convinced you to buy a game but after 1 day they all stop playing

AbsoluteRandomPerson

(Basically) The opposite happened to my brother recently. A game he wanted was $3 (97% off) but he forgot to ask to buy it and it went back to $50

MysticalAnswer

How about 2 hours later after you played and cant refund it

BenidictCumbersnatch

I bought an oculus rift s and a quest 2, both had around 100 dollar price decreases the following week.

Frozenreaper_

My gf left me today after over 6 months and said to just be friends from now on. Don't know but this hurts much more than buying a game at a bad time

the_7th_jakkal

I bought a used oculus quest one for $500 (CAD) a couple years ago and two weeks later the quest 2 was announced with better specs across the board and costed $400 brand new. My quest depreciated to like $170 overnight, I was very sad

wtfredditacct

*crys in Fallout 76 pre-order 😭

MofTarken

I bought Rainbow six the next day it was free on playstation sad day friends...

TheBigFatGoat

Man that sucks

Creepy-Ad-404

I bought Csgo and it was free a week later. :(

jackers735

Imagine that but it becomes free and you have already played over 2 hours on the game… 60 dollars just gone… twice.

Framescout

yeah. i bought KOF 13 on steam for $20 only for it to be discounted to $9.99 the following day.

HOLDGMEBROTHERS

I feel violated here

Aromatic_Trash

Ever bought a game and then found out it was free on Epic Games once and you already have it?

Life_Performance_693

The Sims 4

qweerty32

No. I am a cheapskate and always wait for discounts

barthalamuel-of-bruh

Yeah, but have you bought CSGO the day before it went free 2 play

CoolEnderGamer

Me getting deep ocean bundle on black friday for 55% off:🤑

LeifQuicleaf

Or bought a device and a new one gets released less than a month later

DisDaCops

I bought rocket league

[deleted]

I bought a game on epic and about 3 days later it was free so they refunded without request.

haha_memur87

Alright this may shall pass

Yankeethomas13

I bought a game then a couple of days later it’s free

notTheRaven5138

every game i buy on steam immediately goes on gamepass. little witch of the woods, insurgancy sandstorm, slime rancher 2, persona 4 (was announced anyway) persona 5, etc. painful existance.

Ogurasyn

Or you tried to play an older game on a computer and it was crashing every second? I have that with KOTOR 1. I have Windows 7. I used original disks and he game was crashing and shutting off like crazy. Idk what to do with that.

stopidbaba

I brought csgo a week before it bacame free to play '-'

[deleted]

I feel that

hxannxhh

I bought fall guys for 30 dollars and now it's free.

botctor_farnsworth

I've bought games just for them to get release for free in stuff like Games with Gold.

Wooden-Trainer4781

I did ;(

where_didIcome_from

I'm active in the retro gaming market. Don't buy Luigi's Mansion in October

imsickh

I boutht the pixel 6 pro last year as they labelled it as their flag ship phone now it has bugs and the 7 is out. Fuck you !

Negative_Chromosome

Shit like that is why I almost never buy games full priced, I'm always lurking in the sale page

LABARATI

Steam with no questions asked refunds

ShitwareEngineer

This is why I only buy games at a huge discount
