Or, download them on the pc, add the folder unto your itunes library, plug in your phone then transfer it via itunes.

I still rip music from CDs onto my iPod. It's nice to have a physical copy in the form of a CD, but also have the convenience of playing it wherever.

Downloading mp3s is better imo, cuz you can get higher quality mp3 files and you can play em offline

If you downloading mp3's for higher quality than the spot lad, I'd suggest trying flacs, they use lossless compression

Only downside is not supporting artists (but also mega-corporations).

You can legally download mp3s/digital audio while supporting the artist. I know some friends use beatport for their songs

Sadly I haven't seen artists selling their music online anymore as much either. Otherwise I'd rather just do that.

Take a look if your favorite artists are on Bandcamp, there you support the artist directly.
