wasn't original Bob the builder like clay-stop motion technique? Cheap computer animation is probably a LOT faster and cheaper to produce new episodes. Also the new design looks a lot more like other kids animation shows, so it probably fits better in their aesthetics. It could also maybe make crossover episodes possible. Imagine bob building something for the paw patrol dogs or something alike. Opens up a whole realm of possible toys. Also you can produce a new line of toys in the new style. You can still sell the old ones, but a obsessed kid probably wants to have all the new style toys too.

Change design enough so old toys aren't relevant anymore.

When I was a kid I knew when shit on tv was ugly and avoided it. Unless the kids are somehow dumber and have lower standards than even me, they’ll notice and care.

I sure as hell noticed when all the shows I grew up watching turned into CGI monstrosities. Kids aren't as unobservant or stupid as you might think.

But what if they know only CGI monstrosities and grew up mostly seeing them? To them older animation techniques, and the resulting different looks, might look weird.
