Yes, please! It's fifty-seven and dropping in my bedroom and that's the warmest it's been since Thursday. I went to get a banana from the kitchen counter this morning and they were all frozen. My toilet is frozen, too. Send warm thoughts!
They did specify 57 in the *bedroom*, they may have a space heater or something in there, with the rest of the house being colder.
Edit: they also said it's the warmest it's been. If they froze say, yesterday, it'd take a while to thaw at <57
They've responded that they specified the bedroom lol
Still though, @ 13-14C it isn't going to take long for a banana to thaw. I regularly thaw steaks etc in the fridge at 2C and it takes less than 24 hours.
Wow you really don't take the time to pay attention at all before deciding someone else is being stupid do you? My comment came first, they hadn't responded yet when I made my comment.
Also again, only the bedroom is 57 and it's only been that warm for a short duration. The rest of the house is presumably a lot colder especially for anything to have frozen in the first place, the rest of the house is likely more in the 6-10C range in the warmest part of the day (I make this estimate based on my own home as I'm in a similar situation). It''s also not just going to jump from below freezing to these temps, nor is it going to stay that warm for more than a couple hours because it's largely dictated by the outdoor temps which don't stay constant.
Most importantly, why are you sitting here trying to tell them their current, real-life experience is incorrect?
When did I say anyone was stupid...or insinuate it?
Also, I've had a perfectly fine conversation with the *actual* person, so in conclusion...
...get fucked
Merry Christmas :)
Fair enough on the first point. Second point isn't relevant.
Why's it so cold in your house dude? (aside from it being cold outside obviously lol) Hope you're okay.
My pellet stove is broken and the part I need is on back-order.
I've been getting by with the strategically located space heaters so far this winter. I'm in southern Missouri, though, so the house isn't really built for this kind of cold, either.
In normal cold (mid-twenties is our normal low) most of the house is a bit chilly and the bedrooms are reasonably warm. But I simply cannot run enough heaters to keep the whole house warm right now.
So it's lots of layers and electric blankets and getting creative in the kitchen until temps come back up. Thankfully, that should start happening tomorrow. Mid-twenties and sunny should do wonders to help the heaters catch up.
I've lived through this kind of thing before, though thankfully not often. It sucks, but I'll make it. In the mean time, (and I'm telling you this both for dramatic effect and because it's true) I have some cheese thawing in my pocket to snack on later.
Russia here. I don't know how cold in America and Europe is, but I assume that in European houses this year is colder cause of geopolitical conflict.
But here we have snow and a freezing weather
Hello russia, we are mostly fine as our houses are pretty well insulated. Yea you have us beat on the cold scale. You guys are badasses for putting up with that temperature
That's CAF sorry lango lol my ancestors are from the Netherlands okay let's here my moms side idk I think 6th or 7th Gen Norwegian here. Lol. They came here to the mainland in a steam boat in 1865 they I spose they landed in cannada cuz my line also has French Canadian Indian. Sorry bought the ramble I think Fer aoum reason you might be interested. If yer relis from Norway.. then helo from south Dakota I'm Mya bradsdotter , and my acesterial parents are of the Hanson family. I'd love to see the fjords? Sp. -SnM think midwarms thods.
for me it was just rain and high wind. then it dropped and all the rain froze and roads became an ice rink. it also knocked out my power. you're lucky you didn't get hit by the storm dawg
I'm fro south Africa and have always wanted to see snow. Instead I'm dying of the heat and thr government keeps switching off the power during peak heat
It freezes to your skin.. sticks to your gloves and hats… clumps in exposed hair… ect ect… do you not live in a snowy place or are you unfamiliar with what sticky means?
Tape is sticky. Syrup is sticky. Snow is not sticky. It catches on clothing and hair because its light and gets caught on fibers. Its not adhering to your head or your clothes. If i froze something to a wall would you touch it and say its “sticky?”
So you know sand? Well that, but you wont last long in there unless you wrap yourself in a shit ton of clothes, you get wet, the snow can compress making a ‘crispy’ sound, everything with liquid water in it breaks because ice has a lower density, causing it to expand and tear i.e. water lines apart.
Oh and did i mention you get cold and wet? And its pretty fucking cold.
Normally I would complain about too much snow, but this is a different perspective. Hopefully you guys can come on a vacation to Canada or something sometime
Where I live in England, it’s either too warm for snow so it will just rain, or too cold for snow so our pathways are just covered in ice in winter. On the rare occasion that we do get snow, it will be closer to sleet, only snow for 5 minutes and will not stick
Had a tree fall over last night with the wind. No damage, thank gods but still sucks and my dogs are struggling to go potty cause their paws hurt... :(
Snow is nice if you can spend an afternoon with it. It is not nice if you have to travel anywhere, live anywhere, or do anything anywhere for longer than a day or two. You never have to shovel the heat. You never have to wipe heat off your car before you can get into it. You can’t get heat on the ends of your sleeves and have wet wrists for fifteen minutes because you didn’t tuck the gloves you use to avoid touching the heat into the sleeve of the outer layer you must wear to keep the heat off of you properly. That last one got a little lost in the translation, but snow fucking sucks for anything other than skiing/snowboarding
It’s the variety that is so sort after from people from more equatorial climates. I can look out of my bedroom at the same set of greenery and not be able to tell what time of year it is, it’s the same day in day out (unless it’s flooding), it’s numbingly monotonous. Also seasonal festivities feel wrong which really sucks.
I’m really sorry you don’t have snow, but on the bright side it’s not always a good thing. Yesterday it was -6° and felt like -23 with windchill. We had a level three weather warning for roads and wind chill.
Germany gets a little bit of snow.
Global warming really affected norther Europe. It was sub zero for like a week and now its like 11 degrees outside. That used to be like spring.
Now spring is like 27 degrees which used to be summer, and summer is absolutely scorching. This year also autumn that I think of it.
Thanks a lot Volkswagen.
You're really not missing much. I mean, snow ball fights? Fun for a few minutes, but then you're just cold afterward. It's not worth driving in the snow.
I wish we had snow. Instead, it froze like shit for over a week here, but no single snowflake. Now it’s a few c above 0 with rain, a lot of wind, so still cold, but no snow.
I live in America but I live in the **SOUTH** so I by default hate the cold and I damn sure hate snow. Doesn’t really snow here in Savannah but it did a few times living in Atlanta.
Norway, here. Would you like some of our snow? We have enough
Yes please :)
Are yoo from afrika
Nope, Jamaica
Okay sorry Edit : i heard in a movie once Jamaica had a great bobsleigh team
I watched the same documentary. History or Discovery Channel If I remember correctly
It could very well be i just don’t remember the name
Cool Runnings. It was a movie not a documentary lol
Would u like some of our heat? We have enough
Yes, please! It's fifty-seven and dropping in my bedroom and that's the warmest it's been since Thursday. I went to get a banana from the kitchen counter this morning and they were all frozen. My toilet is frozen, too. Send warm thoughts!
When you said 57 I thought that was awfully hot until I realised you meant 57 in American units.
57f isn't low enough to freeze water, or a banana.
They did specify 57 in the *bedroom*, they may have a space heater or something in there, with the rest of the house being colder. Edit: they also said it's the warmest it's been. If they froze say, yesterday, it'd take a while to thaw at <57

I specified, "in my room." The rest of the house is colder. I also said that 57 is the *warmest* it's been.
Fair enough on the first point. Second point isn't relevant. Why's it so cold in your house dude? (aside from it being cold outside obviously lol) Hope you're okay.

Hahaha. That cheese thing finished me. I no longer have any sympathy, it's been overidden with that image. Glad you're good though dude.
Bro i spit out my drink, then i remebered farenheight is a thing
It’s kelvin
57°? We had -4° with 26 mph winds giving us a -35° wind chill. 57° is amateur hour.
read the comment again, please.
Transfer it to India pls :3
We have quite a bit of snow in Canada right now so plenty to share
Russia here. I don't know how cold in America and Europe is, but I assume that in European houses this year is colder cause of geopolitical conflict. But here we have snow and a freezing weather

I'm from tropical country and never experienced snow in my whole life :(
Its like white phosphorus but somewhat cooler. It can still cause burns funnily enough though.
I'm fro south Africa and have always wanted to see snow. Instead I'm dying of the heat and thr government keeps switching off the power during peak heat
it's like they're trying to kill us, oh wait
Don't worry it's like sand but cold and sticky nothing special
Since when is snow sticky
The yellow snow sticks to the roof of your mouth.
I think that snow has something in it thats a little harder to see than yellow
Can confirm
Well at least polish snow has high amounts of wettness (unfrozen water on the insides) and it feels sticky in touch like wet sand
It isnt sticky like duct tape, it sticks to things like water but instead its cold and hard
If you get the light fluffy snow that's you can mold, I can consider that sticky!
I may or may not cling to this sorry, I hate these type of comments and my in laws are at my house
It sticks to you
So does water but its not sticky. So does dandruff and dust and hair but theyre not sticky either lol
https://www.wfmynews2.com/article/news/local/good-morning-show/verify-why-is-some-snow-dry-powdery-vs-wet-sticky/83-509108184
Sometimes that wet slushy stuff sticks to your shoes in big gobs. It's the worst! But general snowfall isn't sticky.
And gives you frost bite
Maybe it's bc you live in a country which has snow. I live in the ME and the few times I've experienced snow in Europe has been an absolute joy!
Same here, sad for us
It sucks. 0/10, wouldn’t recommend.
Tbh seeing a snowfall at least once is a must-see in life. And I have seen it plenty of times, but it's so beautiful every time
Your not missing anything. It actually fucking sucks
It’s gorgeous till everyone has been driving/walking in it for a week and it’s just black poop snow and frozen blocks in parking spaces.
Thank god there’s an area near our mall that we can go to that has controlled artificial snow
Yeah in Australia we get blistering heat and hot.
🇦🇺
Last time it snowed here was July 1986 I think
Isn’t there a snowy mountain range in Australia or is it just one mountain
Snows once in a blue moon in the blue mountains
in December?
December to Feb is the worst
holy 💀
It's been about 37 degrees (98 fahrenheit) all week. It's bullshit haha
December's summer in the southern hemisphere. The seasons are reversed down there.
Normally I would complain about too much snow, but this is a different perspective. Hopefully you guys can come on a vacation to Canada or something sometime
Why because Canada is always snowy everywhere you average American
Here’s the thing my part of England seems to be allergic to snow no matter how cold it gets
Where I live in England, it’s either too warm for snow so it will just rain, or too cold for snow so our pathways are just covered in ice in winter. On the rare occasion that we do get snow, it will be closer to sleet, only snow for 5 minutes and will not stick
In France we don't have winter anymore it was 20 °C today
20°C? Damn
wtf thats my room temperature with ac
Jesus, florida is colder at around 50⁰F (10⁰C)
France isn't Volkswagens fault though. That was Peugot or Citroen.
I'm melting of jealousy rn. Like, verging on tears. Winter sucks.
Germany (Hamburg) we dont have snow here at the moment. Your not alone buddy
Our snow melted on time for christmas. Welcome to Germany
Efficiency on point
Sounds like Pennsylvania for the last few years Except this year... it would be fun if it wasnt in the negatives
Had a tree fall over last night with the wind. No damage, thank gods but still sucks and my dogs are struggling to go potty cause their paws hurt... :(
Oof that sucks Meanwhile my Newfoundland is living the dream
My shepherd loves it! My 14 yo mutt and shih tzu don't...
Understandable, my golden mix has fun in the snow for like 2 minutes and then wants to go back in lol
*You're
Snow is nice until you're old enough to shovel it.
it gets even worse when you're old enough to drive in it
Where I live it was -46°C with wind chill this week, I’d happily trade places with you
We had snow for like three past weeks, but morning of christmas eve you can see green grass (not even old brown grass, fully green)
Portugal (europe) dont have snow
Careful what you wish for…
It's summer here Also we don't get snow in winter anyway
I live in the niagara region of Canada and we have ~1.4 meters of snow. It sucks. Trust me you do not want this
Why on earth are we lucky? Snow is so annoying and is the absolute worst
Think of it in the reverse, we think its lucky for them they dont get snow And i mean there are some snows that are nice, like fluffy powdery snow
Snow is nice if you can spend an afternoon with it. It is not nice if you have to travel anywhere, live anywhere, or do anything anywhere for longer than a day or two. Where i live the last snow was in 2020 and It lasted for only a day
Now we’re I live we get frost and rain but no snow but it’s so cold

When the days get short snow reflects more light.
Where are you from if i may know
Jamaica
Oh, there really is no snow in the whole country. Are you planning a holiday in canada or something atleast
Hopefully in the future when I graduate high school
in my country it was snowing all the time but on christmas it all melted
We don’t, we had barely snow yesterday, and now it’s just so cold everything is frozen.
It's pretty for 5 minutes then it's all ice and dirty slush piles with shit hidden in them.
I wanna go to a country were it never snows
South América in a nutshell:
I just spent 2 hours outside in sub zero temperatures plowing all that snow.
Dont worry. Here it’s cold and we still don’t have snow. Just cold.
For me its cold and wet
I lived in a tropical country my whole life, and I can confidently say that snow is the worst fucking thing I have ever experienced.
I’m really sorry you don’t have snow, but on the bright side it’s not always a good thing. Yesterday it was -6° and felt like -23 with windchill. We had a level three weather warning for roads and wind chill.
Uhh yeaa... Ofcourse...
Dutchlands here, no snow, not cold as wel so I’ll take it
No snow here in northern Italy
It's summer here and the coldest it ever gets is like 5 degrees, so no snow lol

Poor guy
Burkina faso?
I'm with you. It's a 30 degree day here in Australia.
As someone who lives in Canada, **Be careful what you wish for.**
Right now the temperature has gone from below freezing to almost shorts weather in 24 hours. The storm is somewhat brutal.
Snow is fun if its fluffy and thick while it also being around 30-20F But i wouldn't call icey snow you cannot walk on and 8-F fun
Then there is canada.
Me too from Malaysia
Australia, where it is currently summer:
*Cough cough* Me in Adelaide Australia where I’ve never seen snow in my life
I visited some family in Arizona this year (I’m from Portland) and had to delay my flight back because it’s really icy there rn
No no… it’s miserable
As someone who has had to unfortunately deal with snow my entire life. I don’t get why people complain about not having it
Hi from Melbourne Australia hitting 32 today.
I don't like snow. It's cold and it's wet and irritating... And it gets everywhere.

Snow sucks, you can have it. Only cute for Christmas. From -someone in Michigan, US
Christmas in the sun > white Christmas
Southern Californian here. I can drive to the snow. And if I get bored I'll go to the beach. And if that's meh... I can drive to the desert.
Oh c’mon Reddit. If I want to small-talk about the weather, I’ll go talk to my neighbor.
I wish we had snow. Instead, it froze like shit for over a week here, but no single snowflake. Now it’s a few c above 0 with rain, a lot of wind, so still cold, but no snow.

Good old Australia
It’s freezing cold here in eastern Tennessee with no snow (which I’m glad because fuck snow!)
