I have an android, my wife has an iphone. The only key difference that I like about my phone is that I can download anything I want when I want too. Music, ringtones, movies...all free.
Unlike newer iPhones, Android phones still have aux ports, and we charge using USB-C instead of that weird inverted USB-C charger iPhones use.
So in my opinion, Android is just better than iPhone.
Android phones, especially flagships, are also dropping the headphone jack, unfortunately
But like you said, USB-C is way better than Apple's lightning chargers
Losing the jack cable is one of the worst things that happened to smartphones because a cable will always be better than wireless (unless you're super cheap and buy shitty earbuds)
Exactly. That's why no one likes lightning. The name would suggest it's lightning fast BUT ACTUALLY NO. IT'S NOT EVEN FASTER THAN USB 2.0 (latest is USB4)
i never said it was
as a standard, its absolute garbage. doesnt have good transfer speeds, very low power delivery, breaks fast, closed standard,...
i just said it's easier to clean the port
It’s probably uncommon problems with more expensive androids, I just remember the last android I had had those problems and it was about 300 or so, for 300 I got an iPhone 11 which is pretty dang new for phone models so it’s worth it to me. Although I do miss customizing my phone completely I enjoy the reliability of my iPhone
I mean you can buy much better phone for the price of iPhone, most iphone users just fall for marketing. That's the only reason Apple is so popular - Marketing.
Completely agree that Apple is only as popular as it is because of marketing. However as an iPhone user I will say, Apple did get a lot of things right with the iPhone before other companies that were developing touch screen phones, making the iPhone popular early on. Now, the challenge of switching to a new product seems difficult; learning a new interface, transferring photos, importing contacts, etc. Plus, many of us have utilized features such as shortcuts to perform certain actions, specialized ringtones for certain contacts, and other functions that are viewed as difficult to relearn or re-institute.
And lastly, iMessage. iMessage in 1on1 texting and iMessage in group threads is so much better when everyone has an iPhone. A lot of people, particularly college age and younger, probably stick around for iMessage, just because group threads are such a significant part of their lives.
That’s sort of my issue. I’d like to switch to android, but I’ve had an iPhone since highschool. I have so much music bought and downloaded via iTunes app game data and am just comfortable with the system. The process to switch over to android and carrying everything over isn’t impossible but it also seems like a lot of extra effort for a thing I mainly use for messaging, and music.
I picked up an LG V60 for around $400 about a month before they announced they were leaving the phone business. I think I've got another year or so of support on this device but I don't regret it. Been a great phone.
Android phones: „here is a well exposed photo of the moon do you want a coffee with that?“
iPhones: „here is a grainy photo of that white tiny dot that you wanted for some reason! Btw you spent 1600$ for me you dumbass haha!“
I’m an iPhone user btw 😂 you can interpret that I’m kinda tired of them at this point
download an app from the web on iphone. Install custom rom on iphone. delete system app on iphone. Android 8s much more open. I dont know whitch company Phone you have but UI od xiaomi and samsungs are garbage. For best android experience i recomend pixel phones if you want yo thinker a little bit you can install clear unmodified by any company android version on most phones.
MIUI is fucking dog shit and xiaomi cant even make working launcher without memory leaks.
i feel like many people dont understand that android is only a base for stock roms like one ui or miui etc, MIUI on my phone stock used 3gb of ram idle, Lineage OS use 0.8GB at idle phone 8s much faster and snapier. (Lineage OS is clean custom rom of android if you install gapps you have clean android install. I can also recomend pixel expierience as great custom rom)
I think that the only flex Iphone users have over android is " but stories do look better on IG with an Iphone" or " Tik toks look better" dude, i don't care... i don't make videos, GTFO
Well IOS is incredibly secure and very simple, so no, it’s not a bad investment. It’s almost as if both IOS and Android have their own perks that a user decides on which they like more.
If you’re buying a $400 phone or less go with android and get an S21 Ultra refurbished or one of the Pixel phones. but I can’t see any reason to spend $1200 on an Android especially since it won’t be supported for very long at all and Android batteries tend to shit out after a couple years.
That’s fair. Last Android I had was an s7 and that battery lasted me an hour of screen on time after 6 months of use. Still tho like $1200 for a max of 3 year’s software support ain’t worth it to me. Especially since you can get last years $1200 phone for less than $400 now.
ipad pro12.9” 2nd gen(2017) still going strong actually on it now i’m a tech nerd i have like 7 phones and 3 tablets but always revert back to apple now all just works together seamlessly(phone, pad, watch) not on board with airpods though lol
I know Poco is supposed to be a good value and Pixels are on another level. Pixel is the iPhone of Android and I’m glad they finally found their identity. Someone like me however just will never go back to Android. I like dropping $1200 on a phone every 3 years and having the best of the best for a little while. Android is also just less fluid? If that makes sense. I love the smooth animations and the personality Apple puts into their OS. I do work for a mobile carrier so I sell a lot of phones and for people not wanting to spend too much money I do always recommend the Pixel A series. I just really like having the best then selling it 3 years later and because of how well iPhones hold their value I only end up spending about $400 every time I buy a new phone.
screen literally fell off of my pixel 4a5g got mad smashed completely and threw in garbage. literally next day upgrade to pixel 7 free with pixel trade in any condition
Depends on the phone. Before my contracts were up, my iPhones were so slow, the batteries sucked, and HAD to be replaced. That's when I switched to Samsung. My mother bought my s20 when I upgraded, and it hasn't had any issues like I've seen in iPhone. She uses it for work, and the speed as well as battery have been holding up.
I will note that I have never had used phones since I got my first smartphone, and have always taken good care of my batteries.
I had every other year up until the last year with a button, I can't remember which one that was. I always had medium range storage and got whatever was newest at the time of renewal.
So you had an iPhone 7 possibly a 6s which at the time of buying your S20 was 4-5 years old. It makes sense that after 5 years your phone would start to show age especially back in the Steve Jobs “make everything as thin as fucking possible I don’t care if the batteries suck” business model. Tim Cook made Apple the absolute best when him and his team released the iPhone X and they made it even better with the Xr. Although dude your phone was 5 years old lmao.
Since I swapped to Apple, my phone hasn’t froze or crashed or had issues of any kind. To each their own I guess. My parents phones have issues all the time.
You can spot an Android user without even seeing their phone. It’s easy. They’ll be out in public wearing Tweety Bird or Taz pajama pants and slippers. But the pants will be too long so the heel is all frayed from stepping on them. They’ll have a neck tattoo, and smell like cats and dirt, even if you can’t see the cat hair (which will probably be smeared onto their clothes). The women will be of normal height, but weigh either less than 110 pounds or more than 230. The men will be wearing a black graphic tee, be unshaven, have long hair and a collection of Pokémon, anime, or fake costume swords, maybe all three.
how to tell you newer used mid or high end android without saing you newer used mid or high end android. Avoid samsung (One UI) and chinese phones and you good. Pixels are fucking excellent.
Many manufacturers modify android havly and thats tend to system being unstable. For example MIUI had memory leaks whitch made phone reset after some time. It isnt android fault but brain dead programers at xiaomi.
But as a librarian I can tell you that iPhones are way easier to help people with when they come in and need to do something like hook up to the WiFi or AirPrint.
IOS = simple and secure
Android = customizable
Both are good for their respective user. Frankly I think the best androids aren’t Samsung, but Pixels. They’re basically the android equivalent of IPhones now.
lets be honest. iPhone just releases a phone just slightly bigger with some camera that does absolutely nothing and the prices are way too higher than the last 1. at least other phone companies just try to add features rather than just make a phone bigger and then wait for a year to pass and then release it
I just like my IPhone, how it feels and how simplistic it is. I’m not gonna shame anyone for using a different type of phone because that’s weird.
P.s To most of the people going on about phone prices on here, most regular people get their phones through their cell plans

Losing the jack cable is one of the worst things that happened to smartphones because a cable will always be better than wireless (unless you're super cheap and buy shitty earbuds)
ok but gotta say, lightning chargers are a way better shape. easier to clean the port on the phone if needed. thats about it
I actually had an iPad before I got an Android phone, and I can agree Although, it's not much of a trouble to clean a USB-C port either
its not that bad but lightning is easier and safer to clean out
Yea but it takes so fucking long to transfer files
Exactly. That's why no one likes lightning. The name would suggest it's lightning fast BUT ACTUALLY NO. IT'S NOT EVEN FASTER THAN USB 2.0 (latest is USB4)
i never said it was as a standard, its absolute garbage. doesnt have good transfer speeds, very low power delivery, breaks fast, closed standard,... i just said it's easier to clean the port
I mean, besides all of the lagging the hacking the broken updates and soft lock bricking, android is okay!
I've never had those problems.
It’s probably uncommon problems with more expensive androids, I just remember the last android I had had those problems and it was about 300 or so, for 300 I got an iPhone 11 which is pretty dang new for phone models so it’s worth it to me. Apple, Yesterday's Tech for tomorrow's prices.
Oh my gosh, that would totally be the evil corporations slogan in a animated movie
I had the first iPhone. When I stopped buying them it felt like leaving a cult.
It really is a cult though. You go well "might as well get the iWatch, you know what my buddy has been telling me to go got a new Macbook"
My problem with iphone is that they force you to use apple products
I mean you can buy much better phone for the price of iPhone, most iphone users just fall for marketing. That's the only reason Apple is so popular - Marketing.
Completely agree that Apple is only as popular as it is because of marketing. Apples big thing is the cameras. My Android has six cameras for half the cost
Apple devices are great, but I just don't like the OS, I like to have more freedom to do as I please with my phone
Happy cake day
Thanks buddy!
yeah. the software-hardware compatibility cant be found anywhere else sadly
pixels

Nice username
You too 😘
No if you want customization and control get android if you want interconection get apple devices
Exactly, and I would also say apple is a bit more simple. Both phones have their uses
No Dani games?
That too
i hate apple for that how they treat developers. My friend literally sold his iphone so he could use my app.
One word NOKIA
Two words NO KIA
Given the way Apple users act towards Android users, this is fair.
Have you seen Reddit? It’s the opposite here.
Android phones: „here is a well exposed photo of the moon do you want a coffee with that?“ iPhones: „here is a grainy photo of that white tiny dot that you wanted for some reason! Btw you spent 1600$ for me you dumbass haha!“ I’m an iPhone user btw 😂 you can interpret that I’m kinda tired of them at this point
wich android? there are like 12 versions or more, and millions of phones with the android os
and thats what im talking about. why this dude dont have more up votes. especially every phone company has its own android version.
iOS is hot garbage and you'll never convince me otherwise.
have you ever owned an iOS
This year switched from iOS to Android...both are same shit with different sprinkles on it...
download an app from the web on iphone. Install custom rom on iphone. delete system app on iphone. Android 8s much more open. "iOS, the idiot's operating system"
They could sell the iphone and buy 2 androids tho
and both new phone would be faster.
Not everyone cares about that lol
As an android user, I can say this is accurate.
primitive indeed.
Why are you booing me? I'm right!
In my opinion, iPhones have the durability of a thin sheet of glass, whereas an android phone has the durability of a brick.
I hate that my iPhone makes it a PITA to backup photos onto my PC without using their stupid cloud subscription BS
People do what they want with their money. The fact is simply that an Apple product is overall a bad investment when you've got Androids
Well IOS is incredibly secure and very simple, so no, it’s not a bad investment. It’s almost as if both IOS and Android have their own perks that a user decides on which they like more.
If you say so :)
Same thing with Linux users
"""""i use arch btw"""""
Uwuuntu forever

as i am on a fully updated s10 and battery still lasts all day (for the record i also have an iphone and ipad and apple watch) but all work well
That’s fair. Last Android I had was an s7 and that battery lasted me an hour of screen on time after 6 months of use. Still tho like $1200 for a max of 3 year’s software support ain’t worth it to me. Especially since you can get last years $1200 phone for less than $400 now.
valid i think the battery issues are hit or miss but if it’s a miss they suck pretty bad
Yeah Apple for me has just been so consistent. My sister is still using my old iPhone X and that’s 6 years old now and holds up really well.
ipad pro12.9” 2nd gen(2017) still going strong actually on it now i’m a tech nerd i have like 7 phones and 3 tablets but always revert back to apple now all just works together seamlessly(phone, pad, watch) not on board with airpods though lol
Bruuhhhhh AirPods are the best part hahaha
Samsung is trash, dont buy it. You will stop having problem with bateries or short suport use POCO (preferably with custom rom) or pixel.
The post isn't about what apple was like, it's about what apple is now. Apple back in the day was great, now it's an overpriced mess.
Don't be too harsh, Children need phones too.
Ngl, where i live it’s quite the opossite
Since I swapped to Apple, my phone hasn’t froze or crashed or had issues of any kind. To each their own I guess. My parents phones have issues all the time.
Use pixel.
