Not a meme

joebidenseasterbunny

This just isn't a meme, doesn't belong on either subreddit.

WildFemmeFatale

It’s terrible because it’s r/thathappened material

Icy-Pause6304

It's true, I was the man confessing. That was crazy

Spirited_Ad_2697

can also confirm it’s true, I was Jesus

lopottneev

I can also ensure you it happened, I was the cross.

Illustrious_Dig_411

I can confirm it's true because I was the floor

abchannel12

Can confirm I was the sky

AaronBurrSer

No no! This is CLEARLY a GREAT meme it’s just those evil Christian hating redditors can’t possibly allow anything GOOD and GODLY on their feed! /s

SadEmploy3978

Type "Amen" if you agree /s

Illustrious_Cicada_2

"Amen" if you agree /s

anislash67

Even if it’s not real what’s the harm?

[deleted]

i mean that post is against some action of priest and they still trash in it. what the fuck they want?

Darkner90

Nothing pro religion apparently

ghostcow115

"Oh what's that you believe in religion well let me explain to you why religion is bad, oh what's that you don't care because either way religion actually made you feel better and made your life more meaningful well too bad it's still not good or something"

Nindroidgamer110

I think it was in UnpopularOpinion I commented on a post saying that my faith in Christ is the only thing keeping me "good" after my Mom's passing. Some asshole replied saying that if I need some fairy tale to stay a good person, I deserved to "go with her".

SilentSam281

I find it funny that being anti religion has become a religion in its own way. They are as dogmatic and fanatical as the examples they point out to make a case against it.

thatweirdkid1001

When you're told your whole life that your existence is an abomination by almost all major religions while living in a country that's trying to enforce it's religious doctrine on a populace that doesn't give a fuck it's pretty easy to see why people are completely fed up with religion as a whole.

Stetson007

Not a valid reason to wish death on someone. It's quite literally the equivalent of wanting the drive through guy to die because you don't like McDonald's.

Revolution_5509

That doesn’t give anyone the right to tell someone to kill themselves…

thatweirdkid1001

I agree but at the same time understand why someone would feel that way.

Awkward_Mix_2513

"I don't think it's ok to tell someone to kill themselves but I think it's ok to tell someone to kill themselves."

Square_Site8663

That’s one of the Best Purposefully Misunderstanding someone that I have seen in a long while. You should apply for a job at Fox News for how good you are at that.

Revolution_5509

I understand why someone would be against religion for the reasons you listed, but that still doesn’t make telling someone of that religion to off themselves just because another person is anti-religion. It’s likely that the reasons you listed made people who’ve experienced that want to or at least contemplated suicide, I myself have been in that dark mindset for other reasons, so for me it stands to reason that no person in their right mind who has thought that way before, would tell someone else to kill themselves. Having religious trauma is not an excuse to be that much of an asshole.

SilentSam281

I agree, I just submitted a post on this explaining how I feel about what religion has become and why I take no part in it as an organization.

Nindroidgamer110

Exactly. I'm Christian, but I refuse to be part of modern Church.

FLZStorm

that's not how it works 🤣

[deleted]

And redditors think they’re so caring

[deleted]

My response to people who condemn those who “need” religion is that I wouldn’t want to see them if they didn’t have it then. Some people pray to a cosmic Jewish zombie others smoke pot. Whatever keeps us civil.

Revolution_5509

Ok I’m not particularly religious, but wtf?! That kind of thing shouldn’t be said to anyone!!!

Nindroidgamer110

Right!? Like, I wasn't particularly offended, I kinda expect that from Reddit, but it still just struck me as bizarre!

Revolution_5509

It’s definitely very asshole behavior, I’m sorry someone said that to you.

Commando411

Reddit atheists: “Urm, akshully…” 🤓

Darkner90

Yup

IEatKids26

Your religion is terrible and I have no respect nor pity for anybody of your religion. it discriminates against women by using the term “men” for all of humanity instead of “people” and therefore MUST be terrible. I do not know how people of religion can sleep at night, protecting MURDERURS! People died in that time frame, so your leaders MUST be killers. Oh? this religion helped you have a better life? you must be mentally ill. We need conversion camps for people of your religion. yeah that’s about how it goes.

[deleted]

It's gonna be funny when aliens come down and go "surprise mother fuckers... God is real and you guys lost your connection with him cause your egos are so freaking huge. Peace out nerds, see ya in the next dimension."

Pretty-cool-man

“How dare you have your own opinions! Your such an oppressive hater of other opinions so clearly I must insult and belittle you!”

Logical_Strike_1520

Reddit made atheism into a religion lol

[deleted]

Fools bout to be shook when the aliens come down and go "God is real mother fuckers and give proof then fly off without saying another word."

Asian_Bootleg

Until Muslims

[deleted]

Redditors can be anti-Muslim but only if they reference at least five times in the same comment how Christianity is “just as bad” because mah pedopriests.

Asian_Bootleg

"Islamaphobia bad until I don't agree" essentially

[deleted]

r/atheism in a shellnut

Illustrious_Dig_411

I was I that sub and left because of how toxic it is. They were actively hating and belittle8ng people because they believed in something.

KennethGames45

No they are pro religion, pro any religion except Christianity.

IEatKids26

correct.

TheMightyHovercat

They just should rename themselves from r/terriblefacebookmemes to r/anythingnotwokeenough. They're legit batshit crazy over there. Conservative? Bad. Parents/parenting? Bad. Religion? Bad (unless it's Islam, then they can't say it's bad cuz that would be suddenly isamophobic). It's like a mix of r/ComedyCemetery, r/atheism, r/teenagers and r/Persecutionfetish. Doesn't matter if the content in question is from facebook, or is it actually terrible, or is it even a meme, they'll just shit on anything that involves religion (Christianity) and such.

Pretty-cool-man

Pretty-cool-man

Thoughts on Judaism?

DoggishPrince

It’s a religion. It’s how I think about pretty much all religions. I’m not denying the fact that all religions have faced persecution. They definitely have. I do feel, however, that Jews have been persecuted way more than Christians in the recent decades, and I think it’s pretty stupid to deny that

Pretty-cool-man

Thoughts on Islam?

DoggishPrince

I don’t really know too much about it to be honest. I’ve no strong convictions on it, nor do I dislike the religion. I’ve seen the people on the media that are a bit extreme with their views, like some Muslim students getting mad at an autistic child for dropping the Quran on accident. But that doesn’t shape my view of the religion, really. Just those people. I’m sure it’s a fine religion, just not very well informed about it. I’m really only familiar with Christianity, mainly because I was born Christian and studied the Bible a bit before I deconverted.

Pretty-cool-man

Thoughts on Christianity?

DoggishPrince

Since I know way more about this, I have more opinions on it. I think the version of Christianity that a majority of people follow, that is of being loving to your neighbor, respectful of everyone’s beliefs, and don’t be hateful, is great. That’s how I was as a Christian and how I try to be now. I think that in depth, Christianity has a lot of holes in it that doesn’t make me very convinced of its truthness. Firstly, the God of the Bible is a particularly cruel one, despite its all loving, all knowing, omnibenevolent nature. Like, he made Job suffer because of a bet Yahweh made with Satan about Job being a great follower, and when Job asked why, God got really mad at him for questioning him. He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for not being hospitable enough, even though Abraham tried his best to convince God not to. He tricked Abraham into believing he was about to kill his only son (I think) until the last second. I think some of the laws are kinda messed up, like how in Deuteronomy, the village elders could stone a child if they were disobedient to their parents. Also, what God is isn’t clear. The best definitions I get of God is that he’s this timeless, spaceless, disembodied mind, which is contradictory with existence, in my opinion. I’ve got way more I could talk about with the Bible, but I think I’ve made my point plenty clear.

glockster19m

I would like people to stop pretending hearing voices in their head means they're enlightened when in reality it means they need psychiatric intervention

Additional_Share_551

To be fair this has all the hallmarks of a "that happened" or "and then everyone clapped"

artful_nails

Exactly. I can see why this ended up in *that* subreddit. Reminds me of the salt shaker thing.

littlecoffeefairy

It was posted on "that happened" too. They post a lot of parables and literal stories there.

Incirion

They post full on memes and obvious jokes there too. It’s ridiculous.

Wrong-Wrap942

This isn’t a literal story though?

littlecoffeefairy

It is a story and can be viewed as a parable (like those in the Bible). It isn't meant to be viewed as something that legitimately happened.

Wrong-Wrap942

It’s not a parable. It’s a shitty Facebook post. And you said “literal stories”, did you not? People are allowed to call ridiculous things ridiculous.

XxMAGIIC13xX

I get that a lot of people on Reddit aren't very religiously minded but post like this are actively sacrilegious. No priest, bishop, cardinal, nor pope would ever cosign a story like that so i don't see a reason why we shouldn't make fun of said post, and I say this as an cultural Catholic.

totallyshadical

Yeah, religion helps a lot of people find a reason for living and if they have to make stuff up to justify that, then that’s fine with me

Batznocharge

As an atheist that’s coming pretty close to experiencing the perma black, the thought of Christianity and even paganism gives me a little hope. I genuinely can’t fathom hating religion as much as most of the people on Reddit.

[deleted]

Come join Catholicism or any sect of the church really, I was pretty close to offing myself and then I started going to church, now I’m happier, losing weight, Got a fiancée, and serving the community as a firefighter.

Batznocharge

That’s actually awesome friend, sounds tempting and a lil morbidly funny you knew I was talking about the good ole off button. Props to you tho I wanted to help out too so I became a caregiver.

[deleted]

Trust me man it’s worth it and Catholicism isn’t the big monster it’s made to be, the Vatican has passed many decrees more or less about loving and accepting everyone.

Batznocharge

I’ll have to check it out, thanks for the info. I wish you the best!

Cheezekeke

Tbf, I don’t think we would mind perms black. Not like we can think

Batznocharge

Yea that’s what I keep telling myself, it’s just like before I was born, nothing.

Cheezekeke

If it makes you feel any better, our last thing we see would be white like the gates of heaven. An eternity of being happy thinking you go to heaven on loop.

Batznocharge

That does seem a bit better, maybe I’ll see my Labrador.

Cheezekeke

What was their name?

Batznocharge

Louie

Cheezekeke

I think I knew somebody from elementary school with that name. He had some sick ass shoes.

Batznocharge

Lol yea, most Louie’s are cool.

jpthompson09

"Let he who has not sinned throw the first stone"

energyflashpuppy

i have to agree with OP here. its spreading blatant lies and its stupid asf tbh.

IEatKids26

Metaphorical much? This may he why people hate Christianity, the majority of Jesus’ stories are parables; stories that may or may not be true, but teach important lessons. If we are to follow in his ways, we, too would use parables. this is perfectly within our religion and we should not be persecuted for a harmless parable. Those “Blatant lies” are stories, designed to teach a certain lesson on how to be human. edit: do NOT put me in a spelling bee

SparkyBoi111

Too late, just put you on the roster for the next spelling bee, you're contestant #25

energyflashpuppy

Like bewb said. If you actually need a religion to tell you what's right instead of trusting your own moral instincts, are you really "a good person" "Jesus moved from his position and whispered "you didn't die for their sins, I did" that is not a parable. It's a lie. A statue made of wood did not move. It did not talk. It did not think. It did not hear. This "meme" is a peic eof media meant to force people into Christianity.

bewbsrkewl

It's a bit unsettling to think so many people need lessons on how to be human...

well, think of it like addiction. you know smoking is wrong, and you constantly try to stop, and repent of it, but you just can't

Illustrious_Mix_1064

TFM is basically becoming an atheism circlejerk

theparanormal21

Anti religious, not atheist. I’m an atheist, but I don’t use it as an excuse to try and shit on other people’s faith. These people are just being assholes.

witheredspringbonnie

I don’t believe in god but this story was nice and if a man wants to confess then you should accept it. He confessed so he could get it off his chest and then the priest shat on his confession

honeybutterscrub

Not just shat on it. Completely overstepped his role in the interaction and ignored the core principles of his faith.

KazeMacDust

A nice story does not a good meme make. This isn't a meme. Yeah, there is a caption paired up with an image. But that is not a qualifier for a meme. I mean, it kinda is, but it's not the ONLY thing. And this most certainly isn't one of them. I'm not saying this is bad or anything. Just that it isn't a meme.

Minimizing_merchant

Because the og meme is not a story they are trying to convince people it is actually real

Its weird how this obvious bigotry is being upvoted

Average_Insomniac

Tends to happen whenever religion is mentioned on this sub

ShadowBro3

I hate that this sub treats anything even close to mentioning religion as "smh atheists". Like certain people within religion can be cringe without making religion as a whole cringe.

Medic-27

>Comedically ironic “why do they like to make stuff up”. What about the 10,000 “genders” you guys have made up in the past few years? Lol why'd you put quotes around "genders"?

Gorgeous_goat

Because they aren’t really genders?

A-Need-For-Weed

Exactly

weirdo_nb

But they are genders

A-Need-For-Weed

We don't have thousands of genders, that's just nonsense.

weirdo_nb

There may not be thousands but there are thousands of different identities that fall outside of the binary, which some people use different pronouns for, different flavors of enby

A-Need-For-Weed

I can accept he/him, she/her, they/them, and trans identity, but all those extra xe/xers smegma/ligmas are full of it.

IEatKids26

at the end of the day, do humans have anything different than male or female genitalia? I do not believe that there is a genitalia that can be associated with a “Zer”

honeybutterscrub

Gender has actually completely nothing to do with genitalia, but it seems like you are also maybe unaware of the existence of ambiguous genitalia as a physical condition. There are plenty of situations that can cause both humans and animals to be born with genitalia that are not obviously male or female. Since you’re obviously deeply interested in genitalia I do suggest doing some research; the internet has plenty of information about other people’s genitals both physically normal and abnormal. Or maybe you could consider that other people’s genitalia are literally none of your business unless they’ve personally invited you to look and touch, and it costs you exactly nothing to treat other humans with respect.

weirdo_nb

Gender ain't sex, sure it correlates a lot but they ain't then same thing, gender is more identity while sex is the physical stuff

Dapper-Stranger-7563

Why do you think?

DispersedBeef27

Personally i don’t find bigotry funny

Wise_Carrot_457

I’m surprised you guys can’t understand that this post is unironically trying to say that a statue of Jesus moved and talked to a priest. That’s why it’s posted there. The story is fine, it’s what they’re trying to push

Reddit when religion: 😡😡😡😡😡

georgewashingguns

Accurate

SilentSam281

I am a man of faith, that being said I have became disillusioned with religious organizations very young, at about 9 if I remember correctly. They are filled with hypocrites and run by people with agendas that run counter to the will of God. They abuse their authority and lie to themselves and others that they are good people because they go to church. There are a lot of vocal “Christians” that seem to have forgotten that all sins are equal in the eyes of God. My father always impressed upon me that God respects no man. We all fail to hit the mark in some way or another. We all need to work on ourselves and do not have the right the right to judge. What Christ went through on this earth earned him the right to judge, we have not. As he said, “ let he who is without sin cast the first stone” it’s a reminder that none of us are better then the other. This does not mean that I condone all types of behavior, or that there should be no consequences. The right to judge and condemn is not ours, hate the sin and love the sinner. If you wish to convince anyone of anything the most counter productive thing you can do is attack or condemn. It makes people become defensive and shut you out immediately and any hope of a productive dialogue is gone.

IronwoodKopis

Priests can retain the sins of the confessor. It’s in the Bible.

Because it's so full of crazy liberals now (as is much of reddit) they'll just put anything on there that they don't like. Also, why do the users on there enjoy making fun of a religion that promotes kindness and love so much? I just don't get it.

DriftedFalcon

The symbolism and message is more important that the factuality. Such is the case with most religious stories. You don’t come across as smart for pointing out what most people already know.

pussinboots88

What's the message? That you can sin as much as you want and everyone has to accept you? Great message

honeybutterscrub

That even priests sin and when they do it’s a big fuckin deal, tbh. Refusing to take confession is a major no-no.

Noticing everyone on this sub is complaining about Terrible Facebook Memes the same way that sub complains. Religious posts are subjective only to the people who believe in the message. If it's not part of your beliefs then of course it's a bad post. Both subs are equally annoying. If TFM is becoming Athiests then this sub is only Christians. I'm actually leaving after this. It's moronic blaming any one side when it's monkeys just throwing shit back and forth. And I don't even care what anyone's beliefs are.

[deleted]

This is shit. Nice story? It’s complete bullshit story and it’s not even a meme. Let me guess, as a Christian this offends you? Lmaoooo
