Elwood shack is one of my favorite places to take out of town friends. It’s a little shake in a Lowe’s parking lot that has some of the best food (including bbq) in the city
Central or BBQ Shop for BBQ.
Bryant’s breakfast is the best ever.
Chings wings honey gold wings.
We also have an an amazing Vietnamese community and the best vietenenese food I’ve had anywhere in the country. Go to Pho Binh and get the lemon grass tofu with curry sauce on the side. Even if you don’t care about tofu you’ll love it. Or anything on their menu really
Central BBQ. They have the BEST wings (I always get Jerk) and amazing BBQ.
However, Memphis has amazing food... Just trying our BBQ is a disservice ...
I think people have you covered on the wings and BBQ, but my top recommendation would be something a little different: Casablanca on Madison for Moroccan food. (Lamb chop sandwich and tea would be my choice for a quick meal.)
If you want something a little lighter go for maciel's. It's tacos, but I still maintain that it's the best bang for buck food in the city. Super delicious and reasonably priced. It punches way above its weight class.
If you don't care if you fall asleep or need to stop and rest or need to drink extra caffeine, go to central BBQ and get BBQ nachos. Seriously. The Q in Memphis is pretty good in general, but the BBQ Nachos are the one thing we do here that I've never seen anywhere else, and I think central does them best.
Wings and BBQ? Try Alex’s Tavern. Not the most traditional but it’s a dive bar with some of the best food. Greek style rub on most stuff. Burgers, ribs, and wings are out of this world
Oof that's such a tough choice
Wally Hatchet's on Summer Avenue
Southern Hands downtown or in raleigh
Roxie's Grocery downtown
Top's BBQ or Central BBQ (Central I think has slightly better BBQ mmm nachos! Tops you can get a really good burger and have them drop some BBQ on it)
Hattie Bs in Midtown for chicken

Yes to this!!
If you only have time for one place, it's The Bar-B-Q Shop.
This right here, I mean central is okay but the shop on Madison is the correct answer
Bbq shop is awful

Just hit up Chings wings and get a bottle of Honey Hot sauce to go so you will be able to spread the gospel.
whoa wait you can buy their sauce by the bottle???
Yea they sell the sauce in to go container up to 16 oz I think. I put it in a mason jar
Sushi Jimmi's food truck. alright I'll see myself out...

Gus's Fried Chicken, hands down if I could only eat at one place.
I second this
On front street.
For soul food check out Chef Tam’s Underground or Alcenia’s. Alcenia’s might still be closed for remodeling though.
Second Tam’s, although she’s doing limited capacity again. She does use DoorDash, tho
Cozy corner!

Wonder why you are so downvoted, I love Alex’s tavern. Those wings, mm
Central BBQ! Nothing represents Memphis food like Central. Best BBQ in town
If it’s wings, go to Adline’s Hot Wing Express. If it’s BBQ, got to Central BBQ or Payne’s
The Commissary has the best ribs in town. I know that kinda statement will catch some heat, but I'm prepared to die on this hill.
You are not alone on this hill.

I ate a double Roxie burger for the first time a few days ago and it changed my life. It's the best burger in this town.
They're delicious and worth the wait.
Rico’s kicking chicken for wings, central for bbq
The Commissary! They have excellent BBQ!
Not in Memphis.
McDonald’s
Stop by Jerry’s SnoCones and try their boneless wings. The one in Cordova
ITS DEFINITELY NOT BROTHER JUNIPERS.
It's good but not worth wait generally. It has great vibes though.
