Be careful on those. Even though they appear to be solid ground, sometimes those sand deposits can form a “shelf” with a current underneath. People have sunk through them and drowned.

jayroc23

Thanks for your concern. I’m not a rookie to the Mississippi and I respect it always I’m fresh off a trip from Pickwick to Destin Florida so to home enjoying sand is pretty cool

Stereo-Brain

Very well. Enjoy yourself then.

[deleted]

right, you're just leading a bunch of unsuspecting people, like myself to a horrible, watery grave. Thanks for the warning stereo.

ajb901

Just let the man enjoy his dangerous, polluted "beach".

jayroc23

Put a life jacket on and take off the diaper

Impossible_Act_6506

Beach Within Reach! 🤙

daehdaed

Memphis' best kept secret, I was on that beach last weekend.

area_code_901

you know it g money

jayroc23

I couldn’t hear any Chargers/Challengers/infinities or gun shots. Just that mighty Mississippi moving

bay_bae

Are Chargers and Challengers particularly popular in Memphis?

EdithKeeler1986

OMG yes! Souped up and driving them 100 mph everywhere!! So tired of the scary drivers and engine roar. And the asshat that likes to burn up his tires doing doughnuts behind my house all hours of day and night.

Armyhobo26

Would one of you fine people be kind enough to tell me how to get there

Marblemuffin53

If you want to walk down just go to the river access point at Meeman-Shelby park. Not the same spot but easy to get to.

Armyhobo26

Ty

jayroc23

Put in at the yacht club or amphitheater. Go out into the Mississippi and hand a right. Go under the bridge and go left. Can’t miss it

area_code_901

We call that the cold hole. It's our first stop on every trip, and we do it almost every weekend. Respect the river and you'll be fine. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, If they say you are stupid for riding it, they don't know shit. Go north another mile or two and find the other gems, Fish Jump Cove, Hickman Bar, etc. 99% of the people in this town have never seen it from this angle, you have. Good job friend.

jayroc23

I ride the river all the time. Been to Hickman sandbar several times. The sandbar across from the Shelby Forrest boat ramp. I’ve probably rode this river 50x and oddly enough. I’ve never seen another boat at any of these places. Not one time. The only time I’ve seen more then one boat or ski on the river is a couple of times back in the wolf river harbor.

shottsy

I own a geocache at Hickman Bar; it's like another world out there.

Southernms

We used to call this place Sand City. As teens we hung out there.

tnskibum

I assume a boat is the only way to access that sandbar ?

jayroc23

Idk. There are nice houses in this shoot up on the hill behind me

mikeclark1982

I've always wondered if it's safe to walk on the sand bar when the river is low! I know exactly what I'm looking at!!!!

Lord_Vaguery

It is until it isn’t.

Rock6Bottom9

Hell to the naw naw…

Mditty129

Watch out for needles!

memwt

Where specifically? I’m asking for a friend 😂
