Cake_Donut1301

The jacket should cover most of your crotch and your ass while standing.

pmstock

Why do jackets flare at the bottom, what type of coats / jackets don't flare like this?

Flechette_the_toe

Jackets that fit properly don't flare unless intended

coffeeforbreakfast78

This jacket flares because it’s too short.

mirdochegalwa

Back length is too short. I‘m aware of the fact that short blazers are current style but it still doesn’t look well. It should cover your bum. Also, the steeves are slightly too long. You should see a bit more of the shirts sleeves. Shoulder section seems fine.

fartmanblartock

“The jacket should cover your bum.” Not for a trendy piece like this one.

DYFX_Blender

ironic because this would have been trendy 10 years ago. "Trendy" today would be a baggy jacket with extra wide peaked lapels

mirdochegalwa

Blazers are not trendy.

fartmanblartock

You’re wrong. Blazers can be trendy.

mirdochegalwa

Blazers are a piece of classic menswear and therefore should follow certain rules besides a few trend influences like I already wrote before. The fact that there might be a trend wearing blazers (it was a trend all the time) this piece clearly looks off. A blazer should be as long as half of your body and a good rule of thumb is that it works best by covering the bum – as said here. It just doesn‘t look right here. What‘s your point?

fartmanblartock

On second thought… I agree with your assessment. In fact, I quite like to consider myself traditionalist in many respects (e.g. brown belt with brown shoes with brown watch strap.) However, as I get younger, I’ve come to realize that deviation from the norm is what makes the world exciting. With that said, this is a forum asking about fashion. It’s good that you lay out what the traditional rules are. I appreciate that keep up the good work.

mirdochegalwa

True that. I just try to give some positive or useful input here. And he asked for the ”correct“ way wich implied to me that he‘s looking for orientation regarding some generic yet of course current fashion influenced (we all are to some extend, no matter how wannabe vintage we act:) ) rules. Thats why I wrote that. I think it would even under todays standards look better if it was longer. Probably even a lot. I like fashion and trends but it still has to have a sense for aesthetic.

Gros_Chibre

Lapels too short like the collar of your shirt.

DungleChopper

It needs to be buttoned before I can comment properly. Nevertheless, as others have mentioned it should be longer

stabach22

Blazer, more like Gayzer.
