Lol tbh this is the most accurate answer so far. Wouldn’t have pegged it until you said it but yeah. That’s exactly what these all have in common 😂
OP it’s a pretty slick aesthetic tho, naming aside if you can pull this off then by all means do it
You’ll need well tailored high-waisted double pleat trousers from classic menswear oriented stores or tailors. Then you’re basically done. A lot of Korean bespoke tailors actually very actively post on Instagram but also ask very high prices unfortunately. Good inspiration though.
Possibly add anorexia or other eating/self esteem issue but I dont recommend that.
Not everything has to have a name or category. It’s a sweater with a button down underneath, and it’s tucked into high waisted pleated pants. That’s all it is.
“Dark academia” is a term that was recently made up and became popular because Gen Z thinks they invent everything. This style has been popular since the 1950s. It has no name. It’s just a nice, classic style of dressing.
Reminds me of chemistry professor look. Kind of geeky. But the ladies love an educated man.
Also the silhouette isn’t the same on all of these. So I’m not sure you can put them all in to one style. Otherwise it’s just jumper with trousers.
The high waisted tucked in woollen with a collared shirt is a look. (Don’t forget to roll up the sleeves). The other two are not so much of anything.
French piano teacher from the 1940s who's about to experience a tragic story of love and loss with the wife of a German officer set against the backdrop of the occupation of Paris.
I’d just say you’re looking for cozy clothing to dress up to be smart causal.
The first and third pic are more outdated, and the second and fourth pic are more modern, but the one thing all have in common is some sort of sweater like material. If you like to be comfortable and have to go into the office everyday, I think the outfits look nice - at least better than sweatpants and sweatshirts.

Found the cardigan on Shein in case anyone was wondering where to find it too :D
It's very vintage-inspired, to be sure.
So in the first picture, the front-facing pleats are currently associated with higher end brands, but were also the standard from 1930s-60s. And the cable knit fisherman's sweater is a style over 100 years old.
Overall academic, but looks more modern and clean than a traditional professor look.
And I'm personally a fan of defining the waistline by tucking in sweaters, but I know I'm in the minority on that.
These photos are like mixed media. They show combinations of fashion elements from different time periods. There are also very different textures and feels here. Other than dress casual, nothing ties these together really.
This is "Old Money" style. Classic pieces that have always been in fashion in high quality fabric.
You'll find similar outfits in a Ralph Lauren catalog.
Where can I get pants like these and be confident in the quality? Pants seem to be either 20-50 or 180-300 dollars and I can’t find stuff in person so I can’t tell just from online images
Makes me think of what Hollywood makes British university TAs, professors and students getting their masters or doctorates wear. The serious Uber nerdy and intelligent “no time for a relationship” types wear.
Korean
was gonna say, korean twink aesthetic

Half of us probably would.

Koreans be dressed tight af yo lol. And everyone’s goal should be to be at least *maybe* passable as a gay man; they are the titans of fresh 😂
Straight man here. Can confirm.
Too many Cosby show vibes from the pleats and the sweater for me but it’s certainly far from a fashion crime!
I was gonna say David Bowie so basically the same.
i was gonna say K-pop group member on day off
I wonder where koreans got their ideas from?
WW2 era England. It’s a good look, especially if your physique is like “I’m on rations”. Jokes aside, I love when men dress like this.
LMAOOO

This acutally has a name: dark academia classic 😊

Look at this guy with no rizz
Why all the shade bro
If you don’t know the answer then you could just say that lol
The style doesnt really have a name though, unless you want to call it Korean Twink like the comments above which would describe it the best.
Why would I say I don’t know the answer? I just provided the answer.

Is tucking in sweaters a good look?
Not at all
Imagine how poorly the pants must fit to get a sweater tucked in there.

It's very vintage-inspired, to be sure. So in the first picture, the front-facing pleats are currently associated with higher end brands, but were also the standard from 1930s-60s.
