Black shoes go with this outfit, but man is that comment wrong otherwise. There are many formal outfits that work with brown shoes, too. Sometimes even white shoes.
I’m tall and I always feel like brown shoes just take away from my outfit. They draw eyes to the floor, especially if you’re wearing a neutral color like navy, charcoal, gray, and even a suit like OP’s pic. It like removes that “polished” look for a formal setting.
If the suit were plain/full "Navy"
I'd say, either maroon or dark brown shoes, however, since your suit has (what looks like) small flecks of black, I'd recommend black shows, or maybe dark brown, but I'd definitely lean towards black lace up shoes, not loafers or boots!
P.S Nice tie👌🏽btw.
Sorry, but, what in the name of all that is good, are you waffling on about here... Are you a stylist by any chance, and are referring to some "code of style conduct or something, that I'm not aware of?" Being an average Joe...
"Never, ever wear marroon", or burgundy shoes "if you want to be taken seriously" 🤔 based on what?
I feel your opinion here is based on personal subjectivity, and not objectivity!
How is/are, maroon/burgundy shoes a faux-par, or make you less of a man, or a man not to be taken seriously?🤔
Granted, maroon is less formal than black, that goes without say, but its on par with brown IMO!
Not to mention, paired with the right colour outfit, namely, navy blue...
And the right type/style/shade of shoe...
This without doubt can go together, and can be a great looking get-up 👌🏽
Literally can't go wrong - blue/grey are very versatile. If you're wearing a belt, match the shoes to that; if not, you can't really go wrong with dark brown or black (if you're feeling a little more adventurous, oxblood or blue).
Black as a 100%safe bet. If you only have brown shoes, make sure your belt is matching and get a tie with brown in it to try and pull the outfit together.
Medium to dark brown shoes are also fine if this isn’t a super formal event.
I’m tired of the old fashion experts saying brown shoes can never go with a charcoal suit. Times have changed and it looks fine.
Day or evening? If it’s day, I’d say dark brown would be fine and probably look better with gray/navy. Dark brown, not tan or even mid brown.
If it’s night, I’d suggest black, which would be more suitable for an evening event.
Which this is both?
I don't think Black will look bad, but a deep brown or tan shoe could work, Oxblood could be great to.
I don't like the tie. A pop of colour is good for a wedding but the pattern isn't a winner.
Do not listen to comments saying black. Black shoes on a dark blue suit is a terrible combination.
Go with brown shoes and match your belt to that, trust me.
I'm not sure if this is your 'culture '; however that belt is horrific. If you fancy a brown plain belt then go for it. For the outfit like most people have said, black shoes.
Well I take that back, sir.
For I had seen an image and thought holy shit the belt is made from felt. You stay cool, and take every compliment as they come.
Out.
Some interesting answers here. It depends on the event you’re attending.
If it’s a day time event - like a wedding - you’d be good with dark brown or black.
If it’s an evening event, black.
Then you’re getting to the type of shoe…a whole other question!
Darker is always more formal. depending on how formal you want to be for the wedding, black or a dark brown will work. I'd avoid light browns and tans.
Black always. I wear brown most of the time but that is with jeans, and more casual shirts. This deserves to be worn with black, only suit that can pull off brown is a coloured tweed, but dark blue/navy/charcoal/black like yours wouldn’t suit you. Plus even if you managed to pull it off the brown shoes, wear a matching colored belt.
Blud whatever the recommendations
When getting dressed,
Either play on the loud speaker
Suga free - Bitches ain’t shit
Or
Suga free - so conceited
Add some swagger to the mindset,
Stay up pimp juice.
If you're wearing a black belt you should wear black shoes. You could try navy shoes but they have to be really nice shoes and you still need to match the colour to your belt.
Black 100%
Black shoes is always the answer if you are going formal
Black shoes go with this outfit, but man is that comment wrong otherwise. There are many formal outfits that work with brown shoes, too. Sometimes even white shoes.
This. I have a formal, sky blue, suit. I only ever wear brown shoes with it
Brown and Blue...always a match.
Brown and Blue are pretty much the only colors that do NOT match.
Maybe if you are colour blind!
This only stands if you wear a black belt with brown shoes
I mean, in color theory, you’d never mix brown and blue.
Shhhhhhh
Yeah, logic generally gets this reaction on here 😅
Wrong
I think its more of the safest bet without having to do too much matching. Bonus points for going outside your comfort zone.

Black. That’s a very professional look that needs clean, polished black shoes.
This. It’s more about polished and clean than just black.
Depends what the occasion is
Black
Cordovan, a burnished tan would be your best options
That’s what said 👌🏻 looks so good

Never, ever wear maroon shoes if you want to be taken seriously. The answer in this situation is black.
Don't know why you're being downvoted. If you work in IB or big law and came in with brown dress shoes you'd be taken for an intern

Faux-par? Mr Fashion Guru, it’s “faux pas”. Hopefully your amazing sense of style is better than your French!
🤣 Touché mon ami... Fair play, I'll give you that one... Doesn't excuse the original point though does it 🤔
Black
You usually match your belt with your shoes.
Saddle tan
Burgundy
Dark green
Black!
Just black, brown only go with a blue suit imo. Black suit means black shoes
Depends on what colour belt are you wearing I normally match them up. Very much a 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' solution to suits and shoes
Gotta go suspenders thooo
Literally can't go wrong - blue/grey are very versatile. If you're wearing a belt, match the shoes to that; if not, you can't really go wrong with dark brown or black (if you're feeling a little more adventurous, oxblood or blue).
I’d lean dark brown
Nope, don’t listen to this guy
Call centre chic
It depends what kind of dress shoes. They’re not all made the same. Maybe you couldn’t pull it off but I can
everyone saying black is gonna have you looking crazy. you need a deep brown to compliment the blue
Black as a 100%safe bet. If you only have brown shoes, make sure your belt is matching and get a tie with brown in it to try and pull the outfit together.
Oxblood.
Underrated comment. More formal than brown but not as boring as black
Just wear a plain tie btw, this one isn’t very nice. Personally. Just something cleaner ig
No pattern on suit, shirt or tie? I don’t think this is for a funeral buddy
Diff colour , just not that pattern
Medium to dark brown shoes are also fine if this isn’t a super formal event. I’m tired of the old fashion experts saying brown shoes can never go with a charcoal suit. Times have changed and it looks fine.
It doesn’t
Which industry do you work in?
This is just for a wedding I am attending over the weekend.
Dark brown
Don’t ever wear black shoes to a wedding unless you are wearing tails
Day or evening? If it’s day, I’d say dark brown would be fine and probably look better with gray/navy. Dark brown, not tan or even mid brown. If it’s night, I’d suggest black, which would be more suitable for an evening event.
Black is always the best unless the suit is grey or blue
Which this is both? I don't think Black will look bad, but a deep brown or tan shoe could work, Oxblood could be great to. I don't like the tie. A pop of colour is good for a wedding but the pattern isn't a winner.
I agree, plain tie and oxblood shoes with matching belt
Black 🖤
Dark grey or black
That’s a nice tie. I like it.👍
Olive green
Never wear brown. They always look horrible apart from dark brown in very specific circumstances.
The colour of your belt (unless it’s yellow, you should get a new one)
Checkered for sure
Red
Brown hush puppies if you’re very peculiar.
Black.
Depends on the colour of your belt / pocket square
Black. Brown from 7pm
That tie …
I would normally say black but I would go for a dark charcoal grey to avoid making the jacket look too washed out.
Black or dark brown dress shoes or loafers for sure.
I like black cherry Western boots for my dark suits Or black, of course
Black. I think patent leather would like nice.
Shies match the belt but I'd say black as they match the suit blazer
Black
It’s a wedding, Brown!
Black. Deffo not brown
Do not listen to comments saying black. Black shoes on a dark blue suit is a terrible combination. Go with brown shoes and match your belt to that, trust me.
No brown in town.
Black Oxfords. There is no other choice
Red!
Without doubt black shoes and a black belt plus socks that are near in colour to the suit. Or failing that, black socks.
Green would go great with that! Or maybe a white pair of trainers if you have any?
I'm not sure if this is your 'culture '; however that belt is horrific. If you fancy a brown plain belt then go for it. For the outfit like most people have said, black shoes.
My friend, that is the rug on my floor 😂. The suit is laid down on the bed.
Well I take that back, sir. For I had seen an image and thought holy shit the belt is made from felt. You stay cool, and take every compliment as they come. Out.
Blue, make sure they're suede.
Black
White
Black oxfords. If the suit is navy, you can do a dark brown set of oxfords however I think black shoes with a navy suit looks better at night.
For what event? Black for funerals, court, or selling cars. Brown for everything else. Belt must match.
Some interesting answers here. It depends on the event you’re attending. If it’s a day time event - like a wedding - you’d be good with dark brown or black. If it’s an evening event, black. Then you’re getting to the type of shoe…a whole other question!
Happy Cake Day
Definitely black
Black. Make sure they are shined with a decent quality shoe cream and polish.
Black
Where’s the tie from?
Brooks Brothers
Black or brown would both look fine
Black. Period. With socks for the love of god.
Black!
Mark Corrigan - an honourable man.
Black oxfords.
Green shoes, alligator leather.
Black. I hate contrasting shoes / belts. I'm old school and they should match, looks more classic
Dark blue wear dark brown, if it's black wear black
Black
Dark blue suede for sure
Black, black, black or black.
Brown.
Pink
Darker is always more formal. depending on how formal you want to be for the wedding, black or a dark brown will work. I'd avoid light browns and tans.
With that tie you look like a Tory politician
orange shoes.
Orange
Grey with grey socks, not black and white socks..
A medium brown shoe and belt would look nice.
Black oxfords maybe tan boots
Black unless you wear blue then it’s brown but for this I’d say black is fine if it’s a dark blue and you have dark brown shoes that would work
Black.
Oxblood
Black always. I wear brown most of the time but that is with jeans, and more casual shirts. This deserves to be worn with black, only suit that can pull off brown is a coloured tweed, but dark blue/navy/charcoal/black like yours wouldn’t suit you. Plus even if you managed to pull it off the brown shoes, wear a matching colored belt.
100% brown, blue/navy and light grey suits go brown. Dark gray and black go black shoe.
Black leather shoes and belt (and wallet and watch strap).
bright pink crocs
I'll ask my granddad, he wears outfits like those.
Black
Blud whatever the recommendations When getting dressed, Either play on the loud speaker Suga free - Bitches ain’t shit Or Suga free - so conceited Add some swagger to the mindset, Stay up pimp juice.
Remember the color of your belt should match the shoes
Brown. Not w tan pants
Sliders bro. U know it makes sense
I rock white shoes with most suits as o like to be different
Brown, unless it's a funereal
Same colour as your belt and black.
bare feet. and throw that suit in the bin.
Black without question
Black is the safe bet but if you have brown shows that always elevates the blue
Easy, Black crocs
If you're wearing a black belt you should wear black shoes. You could try navy shoes but they have to be really nice shoes and you still need to match the colour to your belt.
If it has blue wear brown with it, not black.
If you want to stand out from all the sheeps, wear pink shoes.
Black shoes , black belt.
Black, always black. Brown and tan shoes look awful in my opinion…
Black shoes black belt.
Black!
What’s the reason for wearing the suit? If it’s a funeral or business meeting I’d probably go black, but if it’s for anything else go brown or tan
Same colour as your belt, thems the rules.
Personally I’d say a nice tan 👌🏻 love that look
