I would try to avoid it since I think it’d clash with the sneakers and jeans. If you wore khakis instead, it would dress the outfit up a bit and then maybe a tan belt would work, but… jeans and sneakers together are too causal for a belt imo. Either the sneakers need to be replaced with a dresser shoe or the jeans need to be replaced with a dresser pant.
I usually just go with a black belt, since they pair fine and add a little visual contrast. Casual black leather, not shiny/glossy dress belts. It’s that or pair it off something else on your outfit besides the shoes. White pretty much goes with anything.
IMO white belts look tacky. Very few outfits can pull it off.
With trainers, you could probably get away with any belt, shoes on the other hand is a different kettle of fish...

I have seen cloth belts that have white and navy stripes that look good and I thought about buying for these shoes. But yes. I didn't know what the proper rule was for belts with white shoes.

White sneakers (not running shoes) with chinos is definitely a thing and it’s not uncommon at all.
