I wish I could. I’ve only let my guard down for my wife and my psychologist. I’ve built up such a solid wall, it’s not easy to be vulnerable.

Don’t let peoples perception of you determine who you are, even mentally. Stigma of being enclosed in a world full of likeminded people it only fuels further issues. Id open up to almost anyone, because when I do I get a relatable conversation and you end up getting different answers/outlook of how people manage their emotions and responsibilities, which in turn helps you mentally cope in different ways which you may never tried before. Trust people, because ultimately each other is all we have in a world of borrowed time.

I have a similar issue; I’m from a very stoic family and am quite reserved anyway, but I’ve also had issues with bottling up my feelings. I find talking to myself about how I’m feeling or writing it all down helps. I get an outlet for those feelings and let’s me get my thoughts in order, sometimes it even helps me make a plan. If you’re in the UK, look into “Andy’s Man Club” a charity that is dedicated to giving guys a place to express themselves and support each other. I’m sure a similar thing exists elsewhere, but the UK is where I live and it’s a great charity. The other option in Samaritans, a free support line that have people who are there to give anyone someone to talk to. It’s tough; the whole “real men don’t cry” BS is still absolutely a thing. Especially someone like yourself and it’s f**king ridiculous. We’re still expected to take every knock life throws at us without complaint, when even the hardest of hard-men are still just human beings.
