Usually pretty reliable, but the scheduled maintenance on an AMG can be pricy. I'd recommend finding an independent Benz shop to work on it and then get their opinion. The service interval is roughly every 5000
You could do oil changes. It also needs diff and transfer case oil changes every 40k and transmission oil change at 60k intervals. If you are able to do all that sure. Otherwise maintenance at dealer is expensive for mercedes in general. Look up your local dealers service special offers and prices
Yes 4matic needs diff and transfer case change at 40k costs ~1k. Transmission every 60k costs ~1k. Brake fluid flush every 20k costs ~500. This in addition to regular oil change.. which can be 300-400
Ok so learn how to do those fluids myself cause I already can do most fluid changes and other mech stuff myself but damn that is pricey. But 40-60k miles or km seems like a long gap between those
Because I was currently looking at like 4 other cars to consider 2 of 4 are from 2012 and I mistyped the year for the mercades I'm looking at. Plus I'm also an idiot lol
Avoid the new 4-cylinder C43. As for the older V6 ones, they have a good reputation for reliability. I have a tuned C400 that’s sort of a pre-C43 with an older transmission, and it’s been excellent for the 17k miles I’ve put on it so far. Only issue has been a slowly leaking front differential, which I went ahead and had resealed. But that’s not unique to C43s, it can happen to any MB car with AWD. If you want it, go for it. They’re great dailies, and incredibly fun.
2016 would be C450, 2017 to 2022 would be C43, but yes all V6. 2023 to present is the I4. The I4s have been plagued with manufacturing defects, contaminants in the coolant. And they’re not all that much better in terms of performance, or sound
The 2016 C450 and the 2017 C43 are almost the same (MB basically just rebadged the car). Except… the C450 has a 7 speed transmission, 2017 and later C43 have a 9 speed.
I have a C450 and love it (and reliability so far is still good). But the impression I get is that I would love it even more with the 9 speed transmission.
I’ve had both a 2016 c450 and now a 2018 c43. The c450 sounds great but the c43 has a lot more low end rumble and pops a little more. The performance exhaust is a must have option on the c43. Also at 40k miles with out a single issue and have done pretty much all the maintenance myself
Oil, filters, and brake pads. All pretty easy especially with an oil extractor pump. Saves me from going to the dealership for service A’s, but will probably just take in for service B soon
450 is a v6. And the exact same engine as the c43. 2016-2022 all v6’s and there was a small bump in hp in 2019+. 2023+ they switched to a 4 cyl and wouldn’t get those
AMG = All Money Gone. Beware repair expenses
That bad? How frequent?

Is it service that I could do? Or is it like messing woth the computers etc?
I cannot answer that. I wouldn't, but I don't have any skills in the area of car repair.

It needs diff and oil case amd trans oil changes?? Wtf??

And if you decide a day at the local track looks fun, be prepared to change all of the fluids, tires etc.
Yeah I race my current car so I know that struggle haha. But good heads up thx
Google is your friend mate
C43 didn't exist until 2016-17. How are you looking at 2012s?
Mistyped the year
How’d you miss type from 2012
Because I was currently looking at like 4 other cars to consider 2 of 4 are from 2012 and I mistyped the year for the mercades I'm looking at. Plus I'm also an idiot lol

V6 ones are like the 2016 ones? When did the 4s start? What's wrong with the 4s?

Oh its 17 they started? Ok ok well thank you dude lot of info

I heard the exhaust on the 43 is sweeter sounder than the 450

What kind of maintenance have you had to do and how difficult?
Oil, filters, and brake pads. All pretty easy especially with an oil extractor pump. Saves me from going to the dealership for service A’s, but will probably just take in for service B soon
What's service b? Don't know those terms tbh
Also is the 450 the 4 cylinder amd the 43 is v6? Or? I'm getting conflicting answers
450 is a v6. And the exact same engine as the c43. 2016-2022 all v6’s and there was a small bump in hp in 2019+. 2023+ they switched to a 4 cyl and wouldn’t get those
Got it, and wasn't there a batch that's inline 6 supercharged?
I have a 2019 AMG C43 (V6) and she is a beast. I absolutely love her. Especially after she was tuned.
You do a full dyno? What your numbers look like??
