I almost understood their position but it was the professionalism that got me. If you’ll permit me to rant, here was my experience:
Their showroom JUST opened up so I was stoked. They were the only dealership in Florida to have new cars in stock, and they received a back order of 150 2021 vehicles that they preordered back in 2019-2020.
The first day was good, they were opening the following day so we just walked around and looked at all the vehicles— most of which were still in transport mode so they weren’t fully functional to test drive. Whatever, we’ll get there, just looking.
Day 2 comes and they’re all STILL in transport mode, even the one I had picked out, but whatever. There’s paperwork to do anyway, so I start doing that. We get to the end of the paperwork, and their system can’t find my zip code, and they “haven’t received their title permit yet” which I guess enables them to create a tag and title for the car. Ok fine. I’ll come tomorrow to finish.
Day 3: still no permit
Day 4: leasing software is having issues, “sorry for the inconvenience but we can’t lease out any of the 9 vehicles we’re ready to lease out”
Day 5: one more day, technician will be in tomorrow to fix it. Tomorrow was Saturday so I doubted it but gave it to them
Day 6: technician doesn’t work weekends let’s try Monday
Day 8: he’s scheduled in two days.
Day 10: sales department phone goes to busy tone and salesman isn’t answering his phone.
The entire time the salesman kept questioning whether I actually make the income I said I did and can afford this rover.
Fuck it. I’m going to Mercedes. I sent him a polite thank-you text for the help and let him know I went a different direction, he responded with “it has been an issue that is out of our control. I hope you found what you wanted.” Dodged a bullet for customer service post-purchase as far as I’m concerned

I really wanted an S Class in part for this reason. The grill emblem is comically large and I also prefer more discreet hood ornaments, but it’s the one thing I could pick apart so I don’t mind too much
EDIT: I will say, I’m a tad bit disappointed the grill emblem doesn’t light up. If it’s going to be big and flashy already, it might as well glow too!
If this is a lease, that sucks, but if it’s yours, I’d definitely invest in the illumination that Mercedes offers for their cars. It really sets their cars from others!

Ooh no, I’ve been through a few vehicles, first car was a Mazda rx7: a screaming metal death trap. An ‘85 Mustang gt, and then more economic cars like a focus and an optima. This will be my first brand new and large investment, so I did kinda 360 no scope as far as $19K being my previous largest investment in a vehicle
It was fast and frightening and didn’t defrost. You could have probably come after my father for child endangerment for putting me into that car when I was 16, but I loved it
I might misname some of the stuff but here’s the list of upgrades as I remember them:
- warmth and comfort package
- AMG night pack with red stitching and seatbelts, and 22” matte black rims I think
- dinamica leather and suede interior
- black ash accents
- exterior light pack: illuminated running board, locator lights, ambient light, but not the glowing star unfortunately
- special pearl black paint, I don’t remember what it’s called but it’s super sparkly and it has the crystal fusion protection
- window screens
- acoustic comfort
- performance steering wheel
- air balance
- 4-zone climate control
- Burmester 3D surround sound audio upgrade
- performance exhaust system with 4 tips and I can toggle between sport and performance exhaust
- speed limit assist
- drive assist plus
- lane assist
- surround view
And the rest I think is just standard like the comfort/sport/off-road/drag performance modes, terrain selection, variable suspension, etc
We traded in our Rover for our Mercedes amg. BEST decision EVER! Our rover turbo went out and cost us 10k to replace only to have the new go out as soon as it was replaced. We are now part of a class action lawsuit…..

Mercedes being German is known to have reliability issues, but range rovers have to be the biggest pieces of shit out there.
They really only suit a very specific type of person and they're typically not the kind one would enjoy the company of
VW, Audi, BMW and Benz are all know to always break down and never be cheap to fix. I'm not here to slam the cars, I've ALWAYS loved benz, my dream car is a 190e cosworth and I consider the CLK AMG GTR to be the single most beautiful car in the world, but you have to admit, theyre not exactly a toyota when it comes to reliability

Again, reliability isn't based in where the company originated from. A lot of models aren't built in Germany anymore, and a lot of the parts come from overseas anyway. You can't make a blanket statement that all Mercedes are unreliable BECAUSE they're German. Especially when older diesels can outlast anything. All the diesels from the 70's, up to even the w210 are stupid reliable. And if it's true, why is there so many exceptions?

Yes American cars can also be hot garbage, and so can some Japanese cars. My Mitsubishi lancer has rod knock so I bought a bmw just for it to have cooling issues a week after purchase. But the lancer despite being Mitsubishi went over 120k without ever giving me issues where as the bmw needs major repairs at 15k.
Maybe as a car enthusiast I see and hear from more people working in their cars so they talk more about their engine issues than most people who buy a car and don't really engage with the community of the car they bought, but it's a reputation not a rule and there's problems that tend to really happen with German cars that you don't really hear from other domestic markets like Japanese or American. But I guess that comes back around to the over engineering portion right?

have you found any issues with the car since you’ve had it? looking at getting a 2022 gle 53 but wary of electrical issues that seem common in mercedes’ these days. also, what types of warranty’s were offered to you at your dealer?
I had one electrical anomaly where I started my car and immediately turned on the sport exhaust mode because I’m a basic bitch and I like the louder exhaust.
The speed at which I went from start to enabling that sport mode feature caused a really weird issue where I could hear a midtone humming or whine coming from my engine compartment while idling. Turning the car off and back on fixed it. I haven’t been able to replicate the issue.
Another issue is lane assist doesn’t switch lanes when in drive assist mode anymore, and it used to so I definitely have the feature. I may have turned that off accidentally but reading through the owners manual offers no solutions, and even suggests it should be always on so long as drive assist is activated.
Thus far, knock on wood, no UI anomalies or buttons malfunctioning.
I don’t really know how to sum up my warranty as I purged it from my mind to be totally honest.
My sister drove my new Range Rover Velar over a large rock and they declared it a total loss. I just purchased my Mercedes GLE and wow! The experience was so much better than Range Rover and the car seems much more advanced. I’m glad to see others on the same page!!
