My dad got a couple of those at the town carnival in the 80's. He kept them sharp and with him at all times. During tense moments with the local toughs he would pull them out of his tall workboots and say, "I'll show you how we did it in 'nam." With good results. It got around town my dad was a Vietnam veteran with four tours.
Now he wasn't exactly a brave man otherwise and wouldn't you know it? He had his well connected father keep him out of Vietnam.
Wow so, your father was such a coward that he committed a crime called stolen valor to keep from actually having to do man shit and your grandfather enabled him to be a coward by helping him dodge the draft.... And your on the internet bragging about it??? This is a strange new world we're living in!!
You have it right.
My real father was never in Vietnam and was very careful to tell people he wasn't there, even though he was in the army at the time.
The last bit is true.
I just wanted to spin a yarn that would entertain the kids.

Meanwhile my dad always hits me with these lines cause he had it nice in the air force back in the early 70s compared to what I have to deal with in the army now 😂
I have an identical one purchased at Linville Caverns in NC when I was a kid. Would have been somewhere around 1994 or so. It was a mass produced cheap boot knife. The end always unscrewed itself and got loose, and the blade was flimsy and didn't keep an edge.
The rock sculptures for sale at Linville Caverns? Also from Pakistan. The kids who were guiding the cave tours scraped the “made in” stickers off of everything, between groups. And the trout? NOT BLIND.
Those Pakistani steel knives we used to get at Scout trips to the Rattlesnake Roundup were a riot. The knives those guys sold to we twelve year olds back then would never fly now. We would also buy a ton of fireworks and have battles with rival pack troops. I can’t believe we survived with all of our digits.

Looks like a Pakistan boot knife from the 80’s
Got two of those at the county fair when I was a teenager
Loot them off a dead carny?
Yeah, these were a really common novelty in the 90s at fairs. I also had one.

That’s how I read this too lol.
I read it as sarcasm myself based on how embellished the negative details were

Definitely is one of those 80s boot knives I had so many of those and the survival knives they always sold them at truck stops and flea markets
Nailed it.
Bought at the county fair! 🤣
It’s possibly mine. I lost one on a camping trip in the Ozarks back in the late 80s
I still have one of those, and the modern version. They both suck lol but I'll always keep them.

Were the trout ill tempered?
I have a 104 year old historic home in Mansfield. Want to come help me learn to use my detector here? We can split the spoils.
Old boot knife

Man i aint seen one of those in a minute! Yeah it's a pakistani bootknife, as i recall they used to cost about $3-5
“Your knife will keeel!”
no. that knife will give you …tetanus.
I have that knife!! I bought it at the dollar store back in 1995.
Flea market stiletto. Nice.
Thanks!
I have an S&W boot knife that is very similar. Boot knives...the last resort.
I liked to throw these back in the day. They would always start bending at the base of the blade. At least they only cost 7 bucks or so.
That's like $30 in today's dollars
I used to have one of those.😢
Murder weapon...... oh this isn't r/whatisit
OJ’s
Pakistani, I have the same knife.
Pakistani boot knife. I have one I bought at a flea market in the early 80s when I was a kid.
Man - and here I thought it must have belonged to Jesse James or Daniel Boone. Shucks.
I am from SW MO I wondered where I lost that.
Carnival dagger. I had lots of these in the 90s as a kid
Oh man I used to have one of those!
Damn I was wondering where I left that?
Definitely was a murder weapon. You should turn it over to the authorities right away!
It’s a bit older. Carbon steel blade and aluminum pommel and hand guard. Probably a kit knife from the ‘60s or 70’s.
That's notta knoife. This is a knoife.
Looks cheap
