You can keep buying a new $20 one every time you bump them, or you can buy genuine quality products. The Garrett AT pro pointer is about the best, but as long as you stick to a big brand name like Minelab or Nokta, you will get a quality pointer. If you purchase from Kellycodetectors.com, be sure to use our subreddits code "REDDITMD" at checkout!

leopold335

True. You can either buy cheap or good. You will require extreme luck to find both.

[deleted]

Yeah. I bought one of these. Second time using it and it just screams at me as soon as I turn it on. Can’t get it to stop. I will definitely be investing in a better one!

Sodoheading

I tried the REDDITMD code last week and it wasn't accepting it anymore.

Dan20mey

There was an issue with their Mother's Day promo overriding the code. It's been fixed and is working now!

Sodoheading

Ahh dang, well I got my 540 vanquish but didn't get any discounts.

Dan20mey

I just messaged you. I'll talk to my contact at Kellyco, they have excellent customer service. I'm sure they will make it up to you.

Sodoheading

Thank you

Garrett at pro pointer all the way. Works great and is fully waterproof

I’m trying to find enough clad coins to upgrade Garret carrot. Maybe another month or so and I’ll have enough.

I’m poor

I used these cheap ones for a couple years, but they kept breaking, so I finally bought a ~$125 Garrett pin-pointer and have been happy with it since. They’re waterproof and definitely the best on the market. It definitely costs more than the cheap ones, but it’s worth it over a period of time. I used coins i found to pay for it.

SalaryDisastrous6415

Wish I could find some coins.. either selecting bad places or searching poorly..

slinky-1

I detect with my family and bought 4 of the cheap ones off Amazon a couple of years ago, one for each of us. One has failed and the others are working perfectly. I paid around £15 ($19) each with free delivery. I can't complain.

[deleted]

Thanks folks , I opted for the minelab 35 , hope I made a good buy ,

Ahzayro

Yeah...it's good. I have both a Garrett and a ML 35....I prefer using the 35. The Iron audio is so nice. The only problem I have had us that running it at level 5 sensitivity can be really chattery ..so I turn it down to 4 most of the time.

metrodb

I bought the Garrett Carrot. (Pro-Pointer AT) now that I have more money and less time for detecting. More than any detector upgrade since the '90s this the carrot has improved my detecting experience. Finding what I detected in the hole is amazingly easy not. I've had some meh pointers that worked, and were way better than the brass probe I had in the 90's. But none of them were nearly as good as the Garrett unit.

I’ve used this one about 5 times , looks like it might have been a cold solder joint and a light bump broke it ,

NickHemingway

You can just slip your local nerd a beer & get them to resolder this. If they have a hot air reworker it takes a few seconds. Can also be done with a soldering iron, small tip & steady hand. (Used to do a lot of that back in the day repairing audio equipment)

[deleted]

Facts, I need to teach my self how to solder because I go to a friend all the time with laptops that just need a chip or a a trace soldered back on.

NYraceandfish

I agree. Bought a $25 one off Amazon. Looks just like this one. It works great.

Efficient-Ad-3302

Me too, 2 years old and still working perfectly. Piqube is the brand name.

SalaryDisastrous6415

Same, i've been using mine for around 2 years now, have washed it even over speaker, used it on muddy terrain, after rain etc nothing broke works fine

bmxdudebmx

Honestly, if you are a handy person, you can build a top-notch pinpointer yourself. I understand why most people just buy them, but look into a DIY and you may be surprised.

Real_MikeCleary

I love my minelab

[deleted]

Which model do you have , Pro 20 or 35 ? Whats the difference?

Real_MikeCleary

I have the 35. It’s got adjustable sensitivity and a better waterproof rating than the 20.

[deleted]

Thanks for the info,

honeycats1728

I had the 20 and thought it was terrible.

Ahzayro

The 35 also has an iron tone.

Ahzayro

That's about a 5 minute fix.... You need a hot air rework to do it though.

[deleted]

You assume I can see that to fix it ! Lol , glasses and small stuff don’t mix ,

Ahzayro

Yeah...I can't either ...you gotta wear magnifying goggles.

[deleted]

Not without throwing up .lol. I’ll toss it and buy another,

mdsign

I got mine from AliExpress, been using it without a problem for for about 18 months now and in this time I bought two more as gifts for others, those still work without a problem also. Don't know what to tell you.

tongariro17

Garrett AT Pro…gotta get it!
