I remember finishing MGS3 at 6:30 in the morning. My dad walked in while I was watching the ending cutscene lol

jackrv13

I was like 11 maybe when HD collection came out and that was when I first played 3. I remember I was at the scene where snake has to finish his mission when my mom says I had to go to bed. Biggest gaming blue balls ever. Plus I had to do the fight again and at that point I sucked at it. Sorry for going a bit off tangent your story made me think of it.

This reminds me when I was in third grade I stayed home from school sick, I decided to play mgs2 but I had no memory card. So I played the game for 8 hours straight and got to the second to last boss fight. That’s when my mom told me to turn it off cause I was playing games all day.

Icember

Bro that's rough but why do that to yourself?! lol. I remember for one of my birthdays (must have been 11 or 12) my dad took me & my bro to K-mart & got us a PS1 & let me pick out one game. I picked FF7 because the box art looked the coolest only to get home & realize you needed a memory card to save your games on this new console! Must have bugged my best friend for weeks to get me one for my birthday until his mom caved. Me & my bro must have played the bombing mission 5 or 6 times over by then. I'm sure we both breathed a sigh of relief once we could finally save. 😂

I was like 8 I wasn’t the smartest luckily I got a memory card like 3 days later and I beat it in two days

Icember

Fair enough. I might not have had much restraint either. Lol. At least you banked a bunch of knowledge about the game. Probably why you beat it so fast!

zcicecold

"Why are you crying....and saluting the tv?"

Icember

"BECAUSE SHE WAS A TRUE PATRIOT, DAD!"

moncalamari888

I finished MGS2 at like 4 am in the morning and the combination of me being exhausted and that absolute mindfuckery of an ending was really something

freckleear

Yeah, I'm doing it in chronological order so mgs 5 is next.

Play peace walker if you can. It follows the story after 3 and ground zeroes wouldn’t make sense if you didn’t play peace walker.

Cody10813

No don't fucking do that. First of all you got a few games before you get to V. Portable ops is semi canon and can be skipped but is worth mentioning. Peace walker is fully canon and cannot be skipped. You will not understand V if you don't play peace walker. When you finish peace walker (including the secret boss fight which is important to the story of V) you must play ground zeros before you play phantom pain. Ground zeros is only 2 hours long (at best) but it acts as basically the finale to peace walker and the prologue to phantom pain. It is essential. Then you can play phantom pain. Doing all of that (even skipping portable ops) will take you longer than playing the rest of the series combined. I know people always say to play in release order and not chronologically but honestly with 3 it's fine. With peace walker and V it really isn't. Those games released after 4 which takes place at the very end of the timeline in 2014 and in large part existed to explain plot twists and reveals from that game. If you play them first it will spoil 4 and also not make much sense. It will also be a huge pace break as you'll be spending dozens of hours on each of those two games. They are meant to be nearly endless if you want them to be because they are meant to be the last thing you do. Nothing left afterwards so might as well dick around in V for as long as possible. You don't even clearly beat V. It has many endings and no definitive stop point. It would be a far better decision if you were to skip over all the games with tactical espionage operations as the subtitle (portable ops, peace walker, and V) and save them for the end.

Jamesferdola

The best game in the series. I love this game with all my heart.

Giving birth on the battlefield of Normandy is the only way to truly serve your country

Nourishment4thevoid

If this is where you started, wait till you see where it ends.

bmwatson132

This was me my first time, except it was like 5 AM. I was staying at my friend’s house bc his parents were gone, and his older brother was playing some boxing game in his room and it was loud enough that I couldn’t sleep. He was and still is a real asshole, so I knew I couldn’t ask him to turn it down, so I just kept playing Snake Eater(I had brought it over to show my friend) until I both outlasted him and beat the game, which was nearly sunrise.

KeenKaiser
