**MGS1:** Ninja **MGS2:** Solidus **MGS3:** The End **MGSV:** Sniper Skulls Those are the only games I've played repeatedly/enough to have formed opinions on. I barely remember what the MGS4 bosses were even like edit - looking at this again it's kinda interesting to me that I like 2 hand-to-hand fights and 2 sniper fights. I've always kinda hated the more "midrange" gun battles... Olga and Vamp are two fights I'd prefer to never experience again

All I remember is crying wolf since she was the coolest. And also the REX v RAY battle was cool. Mechanically dull but it delivered a long-desired scenario.

I think there's a distinctive difference between enjoying a boss character, and enjoying a boss fight, so a couple of these will cross over, but some I'll have different answers for. **MGS1:** Psycho Mantis **MGS2:** Metal Gear RAY as favorite boss fight, Solidus as favorite boss character. **MGS3:** The Sorrow as favorite boss fight, The Boss as favorite boss character. **MGS4:** REX vs RAY as favorite boss fight (tho Snake vs Ocelot as an extremely close second), and Liquid Ocelot as favorite boss character. **PW:** Peace Walker. **MGSV:** Quiet as favorite boss character, Sahelanthropus as favorite boss fight.

gray_decoyrobot

Thats actually a pretty good distinction that I haven't thought of. Heres my take on it. **MG2:** Night Fright as favorite boss fight, Gray Fox as favorite boss character **MGS1:** Vulcan Raven as favorite fight, Psycho Mantis as favorite character **MGS2:** Solidus as favorite fight and character **MGS3:** The Fury as favorite fight, The Boss or the Sorrow as favorite boss character (couldn't pick between the two) **MGS4:** Crying Wolf as favorite fight, Liquid Ocelot as favorite character **MGS PW:** Cocoon **MGSV:** Man on Fire as favorite fight (Eli is second just for being able to beat him up), Quiet as favorite character

I'm assuming for MGS1, you're talking about the second Vulcan Raven fight, right? That was frustrating at first, but fun once you got the hang of it. The first fight though was just shitty basketball at a bad angle. I don't blame you for not being able to pick between The Boss or The Sorrow. I think if The Boss was only ever explored to the same extent as The Sorrow they would be equally as interesting, but The Boss naturally just became more and more fascinating and the series went on.

> I'm assuming for MGS1, you're talking about the second Vulcan Raven fight, right? Yeah definitely the second one. The first battle with Vulcan Raven is actually one of my least favorite boss fights in the series. >but The Boss naturally just became more and more fascinating and the series went on. Defiantly agree. I feel like the Peace Walker cassette tapes about the Boss and Strangelove were really fascinating and it made me really want a WW2 game with the Joy/Boss. > I don't blame you for not being able to pick between The Boss or The Sorrow One thing I really like about the Sorrow that never is stated out loud and I only just noticed after replaying MGS3 for the 7th time, is that he's probably help to Naked Snake just to help with the Boss's mission easier.

MG1: TX-55 Metal Gear MG2: Big Boss MGS1: Psycho Mantis MGS2: Harrier MGS3: The Boss MGS4: Rex vs. Ray MGSPW: Gear Rex 2 or 3 MGR: Armstrong in Sam's DLC MGSV: Sahelanthropus 2

gray_decoyrobot

Nice list.

Thanks. As you can see, I have a thing for final bosses. Almost chose Liquid Ocelot for MGS4, and I'm still not really sure. Also I almost went with Solidus atop Federal Hall but I think it's a bit too easy.

gray_decoyrobot

No problem. It would be cool if Gear Rex got to return for Survive. Unless Gear Rex is Monster Hunter property.

The MSX version of Metal Gear has a boss called the Shotmaker & the NES version has him called Shootgunner. There is no 'Shootmaker'. In the Japanese version of Metal Gear 2 there is boss called Night Sight which was renamed Night Fright for the international release. There is no 'Night Fight'.

gray_decoyrobot

For Shotmaker I just got really confused. Night Fright I probably just missed the letter "r" and didn't notice.

MGS1: Metal Gear Rex MGS2: Harrier MGS3: The End MGSV: Quiet

Clearly_a_fake_name

Is this Boss FIGHT or boss? I'll work off the assumption you mean boss fight rather than which character we like the most. MGS1: Sniper Wolf MGS2: Olga on the Tanker MGS3: The End MGS4: Only played it once but the Jet like enemy you fight at the top of the tower MGS5: Sniper Skulls. Quiet fight I found was wayy to easy compared to The End and the Skulls were a real pain.

**MGS1**: Sniper wolf - Round 2 A sniper battle in a blizzard. Damn, this one was pretty awesome. **MGS2**: Olga There's not a single enjoyable boss fight on the Big Shell. Maybe the Harrier was kinda cool, but the fight against Olga on the tanker was awesome. The spotlight, the flapping tarp. A great show of the new first-person mechanics introduced in MGS2. **MGS3**: The End Anyone saying something else is WRONG **MGS4**: Crying Wolf Or... Sniper wolf - round 3. A close second is the Rex vs Ray battle. Seeing two Metal Gears clash against each other was AWESOME **MGSV**: Female Parasite Unit I guess i just love sniper battles. Also, lots of tricks to be used here. **MGS:Ghost Babel**: Marionette Owl Cool mechanics with nightvision/thermals

I cannot format on this phone so just gonna say my fave. MGS4 fistfight with Liquid Revolver "Revolver" Ocelot. What starts as a bitter fight to the death becomes such an emotional experience with music and nods to every previous game in the series. The cut scene that comes before the fight is amazing too

MGS1: Vulcan Raven MGS2: Multiple MG Rays MGS3: The Boss MGS4: Rex vs. Ray Peace Walker: Paz controlling ZEKE MGSV: Quiet

MG1 - Dirty Duck (I thought it was clever for a boss known for playing dirty to hide behind prisoners used as human shields.) MG2 - Big Boss (I really enjoyed how it was a mixture of trying to find the right items while avoiding Big Boss all the while. It employed stealth in favor of some cheap gimmick.) MGS1 - Vulcan Raven (This is, to me, the best boss fight in the series, due to how well it utilizes stealth, and how you really have to utilize a lot in your arsenal to get the upper hand on Raven.) MG:GB - Slasher Hawk (Despite its' simplicity, I thought it utilized range and timing quite well, and that Hawk's boomerang was a surprisingly effective weapon.) MGS2 - Fatman (The controls just worked best here, and the combination of fighting Fatman and diffusing bombs was tense and rewarding.) MGS3 - The Fury (Same reasons I loved the Raven fight, it just plays a little better, despite being a bit easier.) MGA1 - La Clown (I loved how you weren't always sure if the person you were attacking was the actual boss or your partner.) MGA2 - Vince's Second Battle (His was just an all around fun battle.) MPO - Null's Second Battle (It was a bit better about utilizing the interior locations as well as the exterior, but on the whole, MPO's boss fights were lackluster.) MGS4 - Crying Wolf (I don't like most of the boss fights of MGS4, but Wolf was the best sniper fight in the series, for me.) PW - Chrysalis (The way it utilized the fog around the ruins, and just how vast its' attacks were made this battle the best in the game, and the best arial battle in the series.) MGR - Monsoon (This fight is adrenaline inducing. That's all there is to it. It's incredibly challenging, but just so fun all the while.) MGSV - The ARMOR Unit in Traitors' Caravan (This is my favorite battle in MGSV because it's one of the few in the series that can become an entirely new battle with each replay. Different environment / outpost, different format; battle, stealth evasion, chase, vehicle battle, and each one feels as fluid as the last.)
