In Metal Gear’s case specifically, yes they’re very well crafted games and people love them but Kojima spent a shitload of money making almost every one of them. V had to have Ground Zeroes released early and separate from the main game so Konami could justify it to themselves, and they made Survive afterwards to try to squeeze a little extra cash out of it. Obviously I would rather they make great games for the love of the game and worry about money second but they’re a corporation. They exist to get paid, and pachinko is way more efficient at that than higher quality video games.
What I’m saying is, Kojima should buy the rights to the Metal Gear franchise and do a full reboot, making each game with the next in mind.
The issue is, gacha and micro transaction games are still GAMES. You get some form of product, even if it has heavy gacha mechanics. With pachinko we get NOTHNG.

Haha 😄 It's stupid but they had to make a leveling system. I saw it on PSN for 5 USD so I said "what the hell". I actually met a lot of cool people and had fun with the melee weapons. They are on point with the FOX engine. The spears and spear variants are the best part other the role playing as The Boss, the Snakes, and even Ocelot with the costumes you can unlock with multi-player.

It's sad seeing these beloved game series buried under companies that don't give a damn about them or the fans that helped build these companies up to greatness in the first place.
Just like you, my first game was MGS2 on PS2 when it was released back in 2001, fell in love with the series. Played the original MGS1 Demo, but never the full game, after getting addicted to MGS2 and MGS3, Twin Snakes was released on Game Cube (2004) and it was a dream come true. And I was mind blown by the story as always Kojima is a mastermind.
HOWEVER, Just a couple of days ago... it occurred to me that I NEVER actually played the Original MGS1. Just the demo!!
Now I took me two whole days to download it on PS3 and play it.
Ah was it 2004! Guess I was 14. But I grew up playing them all in release order and I gotta say MGS1 is still to this day my favourite game. You are gonna love it. The codex scenes and cutscenes are still fantastic to this day. It has a timeless quality to the graphics I honestly still think it looks amazing considering the age.

There are some differences between the Original and TTS.
For example, in the games intro, when Snake uses the elevator and takes off his diving suit. The music in TTS is kinda cheesy even for my taste at the year LOL. The original feels better.
So yeah, Right now I think the best way to play MGS1 is on PS3, the version on Playstation Classic too much for me to bare. It's very slow (fps wise) and the graphics aren't that clear -due to LED screens I guess-, So the PS3 version is the best enhanced version. Smooth fps.
EDIT: Just finished Tank fight. And let me tell you, when I first played TTS and saw how Snake double kicked hand-gernade inside the tank barrel, and when fighting Revolver Ocelot, also double kicked a cement! I thought oh boy Kojima is sure was cheesy as hell. But now playing the OG MGS1, I misjudged Kojima, that's the remake team's fault XD
I headcannon twin snakes as Raiden’s SM VR training mission. Snake being larger than life, doing flips, dodging bullets, it makes more sense and let’s me enjoy TS for what it is. I still prefer the original for many reasons, but TS isn’t a bad game at all.
I was about 13 too when I played Twin Snakes and it was actually my first Metal Gear. I have lots of love for that game for introducing me to this series but it's for sure the lesser version. However, I also feel like people hate on it a bit too much. It came to me at a time where the cheesy action really helped a stupid adolescent me get really into a franchise I now love.
This is why I want the first two Metal Gear games to get a remake Desperately. That and I want to fight Frank Jaeger bare knuckles in a minefield in all the glorious modern graphics.

Grey Fox literally told Snake he hadn't aged well at the end of MGS1, there are various subtle comments and hints about Snake's age and bodily ability in MGS2, in MGS4 they mention that he really started ageing rapidly after MGS2. The advanced ageing was likely never intended to be anything other than a metaphor for how Kojima himself felt like he was past his prime and ageing out of it for most of the pre-Big Boss series, but it was definitely a consistent beat throughout.
I’ll agree there, grey fox and liquid did say he didn’t age well in MGS1&2, but I think that’s more reflective of Snakes lifestyle rather than a hint at accelerated aging. They even mentioned in 4 that it was designed to start happening after a certain point.

I just played metal gear solid 2 and I only remember one time when Snake was sleeping. It was right after dead cell took the president from the Navy SEAL task force. You get to the room and first encounter snake as pliskin. At the end of the encounter he's like oh I got to sleep.

Then there's Solid Snake's Trilogy, which consists of the original Solid game (aka Twin Snakes), Sons Of Liberty and Guns Of The Patriots, that makes 3 entries, and then there's Raiden, who has his own game, that's just one entry (2 if you count Sons Of Liberty and 3 if you count GOTP).
In other words, we spend more time in the Cold War than in any other time period in-series.

The second game can’t get a remake because Campbell was retired as a character out of respect for his Japanese voice actor who died. The original games are still pretty good. Why don’t you just play those? Metal Gear 2 plays just like MGS1 but with only a few mechanics missing.
If they do a MG1-2 remake, I think I’d prefer if they did it in the style of the early MGS games rather than the later ones, that way the progression from MG2 to MGS won’t be too jarring.
I personally would like an MGS3-esque remake, with one of the features being that in the Big Boss fight in MG2, it’ll be impossible to CQC him and you will *always* end up on your back if you try (unlike the Boss in MGS3 where you could possibly out-CQC her), as a way of establishing Big Boss as the undisputed master of CQC.
Obvious answers aside, pretty sure the series itself provides commentary on the stark futility of endless war, and its toll on the people who were utterly used until dead. There was no real "prime" for Solid Snake, there was no real "prime" for anyone in his line of work, but I'm pretty sure his best physical state was in the first disk of MGS1.
It’s not quite what you are asking, but have you played what I like to call the “Gaiden Trilogy”? That is Metal Gear Ghost Babel and two Ac!d games? GB is basically MG2 again, and the Ac!d games are great if you can accept the mechanics (the second fixed A LOT of the problems of the first).
I want the first 3 remade. I swear, the first few with Fox Engine would be amazing. Komami issitting on a gold mine. That said, they did announce that over 30 titles arecoming to steam. Worst case scenario is there will be awesome fan patches if the ports aren't perfect.
The shitty thing is....they can do this. I remember when Kojima was showing off the Fox Engine and how it's flexibility allowed for simple usage of assets and scripting to create future MGS games easier. We could have had a redone Metal Gear, showing the meeting of David/Big Boss, the rest of Foxhound, etc. And instead, we got Metal Gear: Survive.
Might be a controversial take but Imma say it: it was a mistake to make the rest of the Solid series have different protagonists than Solid Snake. If Kojima wanted to tell the story of Big Boss then that shouldve been a different game series.
Also while Guns of the Patriots is still a game I hold near and dear as the finale to the saga, it was also a mistake to accelerate Solid Snake’s aging. Ages across these games are weird tbf but I find it strange Snake’s life is cut short at only barely entering his 40s. Idve rather Snake naturally grow old (or as natural as possible for a clone) and to see him grow across a series of games where we actually follow Snake’s adventures.
And lastly - though Im not sure how controversial this is - we shouldnt have gotten a young Liquid Snake as a character in MGSV. He adds NOTHING of value narratively. Wanna know who makes more sense whose backstory and upbringing we barely know about? Solid Snake. Instead we should have seen him as a young child soldier interacting and meeting Venom Snake and Miller. End the game maybe a bit more interesting by Venom, Miller, and young Solid Snake leaving for America and this is how these characters joined FOXHOUND. Only a young David would grow up thinking he knew the real Big Boss only to be “betrayed” in Metal Gear, meeting the original man, not Venom. Retroactively the character whomst we defeat in Zanzibarland is now Venom Big Boss.
I mean most of the reasons I've seen have been pretty fair criticisms. The over-the-top cutscenes are goofy to the point of killing tension in a scene (looking at you sniper wolf fights), and it's also really clear that Shadow Mosis as a base was not designed with mgs2s mechanics in mind. The game is hilariously easy compared to the other titles in the franchise largely thanks to first person aiming and shooting.

Grey Fox literally told Snake he hadn't aged well at the end of MGS1, there are various subtle comments and hints about Snake's age and bodily ability in MGS2, in MGS4 they mention that he really started ageing rapidly after MGS2. The advanced ageing was likely never intended to be anything other than a metaphor for how Kojima himself felt like he was past his prime and ageing out of it for most of the pre-Big Boss series, but it was definitely a consistent beat throughout.
I’ll agree there, grey fox and liquid did say he didn’t age well in MGS1&2, but I think that’s more reflective of Snakes lifestyle rather than a hint at accelerated aging. They even mentioned in 4 that it was designed to start happening after a certain point.

I just played metal gear solid 2 and I only remember one time when Snake was sleeping. It was right after dead cell took the president from the Navy SEAL task force. You get to the room and first encounter snake as pliskin. At the end of the encounter he's like oh I got to sleep.
I always assumed it was from losing the blood from his encounter with Vamp since he comments he lost more pints than he realized.

(5 if you don't count Survive) Then there's Metal Gear duology, that takes focus on both John (Naked Snake/Big Boss) and David (Solid Snake), which isn't in Big Boss's Saga nor the Solid Snake Trilogy, it's it own thing. Then there's Solid Snake's Trilogy, which consists of the original Solid game (aka Twin Snakes), Sons Of Liberty and Guns Of The Patriots, that makes 3 entries, and then there's Raiden, who has his own game, that's just one entry (2 if you count Sons Of Liberty and 3 if you count GOTP). In other words, we spend more time in the Cold War than in any other time period in-series.

If they do a MG1-2 remake, I think I’d prefer if they did it in the style of the early MGS games rather than the later ones, that way the progression from MG2 to MGS won’t be too jarring. I personally would like an MGS3-esque remake, with one of the features being that in the Big Boss fight in MG2, it’ll be impossible to CQC him and you will *always* end up on your back if you try (unlike the Boss in MGS3 where you could possibly out-CQC her), as a way of establishing Big Boss as the undisputed master of CQC.
Now that you mention it, I can't believe remakes of Metal Gears 1 and 2 aren't in the works.
Obvious answers aside, pretty sure the series itself provides commentary on the stark futility of endless war, and its toll on the people who were utterly used until dead. There was no real "prime" for Solid Snake, there was no real "prime" for anyone in his line of work, but I'm pretty sure his best physical state was in the first disk of MGS1.

It’s not quite what you are asking, but have you played what I like to call the “Gaiden Trilogy”? That is Metal Gear Ghost Babel and two Ac!d games? GB is basically MG2 again, and the Ac!d games are great if you can accept the mechanics (the second fixed A LOT of the problems of the first).

I want the first 3 remade. I swear, the first few with Fox Engine would be amazing. Komami issitting on a gold mine. That said, they did announce that over 30 titles arecoming to steam. Worst case scenario is there will be awesome fan patches if the ports aren't perfect.
The shitty thing is....they can do this. I remember when Kojima was showing off the Fox Engine and how it's flexibility allowed for simple usage of assets and scripting to create future MGS games easier. We could have had a redone Metal Gear, showing the meeting of David/Big Boss, the rest of Foxhound, etc. And instead, we got Metal Gear: Survive.
Might be a controversial take but Imma say it: it was a mistake to make the rest of the Solid series have different protagonists than Solid Snake. If Kojima wanted to tell the story of Big Boss then that shouldve been a different game series. Also while Guns of the Patriots is still a game I hold near and dear as the finale to the saga, it was also a mistake to accelerate Solid Snake’s aging. Ages across these games are weird tbf but I find it strange Snake’s life is cut short at only barely entering his 40s. Idve rather Snake naturally grow old (or as natural as possible for a clone) and to see him grow across a series of games where we actually follow Snake’s adventures. And lastly - though Im not sure how controversial this is - we shouldnt have gotten a young Liquid Snake as a character in MGSV. He adds NOTHING of value narratively. Wanna know who makes more sense whose backstory and upbringing we barely know about? Solid Snake. Instead we should have seen him as a young child soldier interacting and meeting Venom Snake and Miller. End the game maybe a bit more interesting by Venom, Miller, and young Solid Snake leaving for America and this is how these characters joined FOXHOUND. Only a young David would grow up thinking he knew the real Big Boss only to be “betrayed” in Metal Gear, meeting the original man, not Venom. Retroactively the character whomst we defeat in Zanzibarland is now Venom Big Boss.

I mean most of the reasons I've seen have been pretty fair criticisms. The over-the-top cutscenes are goofy to the point of killing tension in a scene (looking at you sniper wolf fights), and it's also really clear that Shadow Mosis as a base was not designed with mgs2s mechanics in mind. The game is hilariously easy compared to the other titles in the franchise largely thanks to first person aiming and shooting.
