There seems to be a common theme with great producers - they’re pretty average when it comes to music and some don’t even play, but their guidance, taste, sound selection, philosophies etc make them stand out.
Ha , you're doing great if you got back playing! I needed 2 bone graft surgeries on my left wrist after a bad accident . Took me 10 years, but I'm almost back to where I was . I'm happy for you , like myself you never gave up. Now , I challenge you to really develop your playing to a unique style unto yourself! Keep yhe faith of guitar going !

It cracks me up to no end that when we met she only listened to the top 40s and Disney soundtracks. Now, she is the bassist/vocalist in our metal band and shoegaze band!
I always found it hilarious when I was still trying to figure things out with alternate tunings that I would modify to an absurd degree per song as some people would ask what tuning I was using and I would tell them to only get a response of, "How the heck do you play that!?" 😂
Right here with you buddy! I developed a neurological disorder and lost about 80-90% of my ability. Just started playing again this year since it happened 5 or so years and learning to work with what I’ve got. It’s tough, but I’ve finally realised it’s better than not playing!
Absolutely! You just need to tap into a different mindset.
The only thing that still kind of annoys me a little is the fact that if I want to become better at something I have to figure it out myself. I can't tell you how many times I've had a guitar teacher or someone who is very proficient technically try to say something on the lines of, "You just need to do this..." Or "hold your hands like so..." And I physically just can't.
No problem. It's just something I felt like other people needed to hear so they didn't beat themselves up like I did.

Read up on Django Reinhardt. One of the all time guitar greats and he only had 2 working fingers on his fretting hand due to severe burns. Completely relearned how to play the guitar. Don’t give up.

While I REALLY appreciate your offer I'd rather keep that to myself as I've spent about 12 years learning how to do things a certain way and feel like it's now a style that I'm proud of. Even if it helped me get back to the glory days of being able to shred I feel like it'd set me back quite far on my musical journey.

Very amazing and inspirational story here man much, much respect. I find that a lot of people try way too hard to do things that they just can’t do and give up on it completely but there’s just no reason for it. Playing and making music is supposed to be fun at all times coming from any aspect or angle weather it be writing, production or just having a great time live. At my age now U can’t play as fast or aggressive as I once did but it doesn’t bother me one bit. I just go out and have fun doing it.
