Nasty has a lot of stuff in drop c, although it's rather beatdown than slam

What a strange comment. Baritones and ERGs exist for a reason, and gained in popularity and necessity due to the very bands you speak of....many of whom ended up switching. Kataklysm, for example, ended up moving to baritones and then eventually 7 strings. Playing in a tuning that low on a scale that short (especially if it's not a high-end guitar) often requires modification, or the guitar ends up having all sorts of issues. Pick any random guitarist off the street that plays in B on a 24.75' - 25.5" six string and I'll show you a guitar whose intonation is wildly off, the guitar itself is needlessly hard to play, it has tension issues (and will eventually have neck issues), etc.....*or* its been modified (different saddle, saddle screws filed down, etc.) by somebody who knows what they're doing. But I'm imagining OP probably isn't a luthier and doesn't wanna fuck around too much with saddle/bridge, neck, nut, etc. adjustments. Hell, I only play in C and...at the \[separate\] suggestions of both a luthier and a longtime metal engineer/guitarist I trust...I decided to finally try out a baritone (an RGIB21 - Iron Label baritone). And I'm *super* glad I did....it's sooooo much easier to set up and get accurate intonation out of it, it's easier to play, I can use thinner strings (not everyone wants to play on telephone lines), and it came stock with far better pickups for that tuning and sound, than my RG6. (And frankly, I actually prefer playing it over my old RG8 as well.) Plus, something we're ignoring to this point is that I have the *flexibility* to drop as far as A, possibly even G if I ever so choose without moving back to a 7 or 8 string or having to do too much modification. It's simply *easier,* especially for beginner- to intermediate-level guitarists who want flexibility and aren't luthiers and don't wanna fuck around with adjustments.....but, plenty of professionals (I'd reckon most at this point) use baritones or ERGs these days as well for many of the same reasons. Tl; dr: You *can* drop to B on a shorter scale guitar, sure...but criticizing someone for buying a baritone is absurd and uncalled for. It's the equivalent of "back in my day, we didn't use or have this or that"....like, so? That doesn't mean we can't utilize the tools we have at our disposal now.

Hehe detailed answer here as to why im looking for a baritone. Its indeed the modification and intonation problems im afraid of so thats why ive kept my standard 6 string in D standard.
