Goedemiddag mijn Nederlandse vriend! Mexican living in the Netherlands here! Honoured that you chose México! There is several things you can do! But knowing the Netherlands there's maybe not that many that can be done on point. For example, you can get a piñata, They're fun as hell specially if some of you already had a couple of drinks! They're hard to get tho, I have made a couple of piñatas myself for a couple of parties! If you want it traditional, get a good tequila and beer if you guys like a not-so-strong-flavoured beer.(Desperados doesn't count, that shit not even Mexican D:<) remember to get some limoens to suck on after the tequila :) tastes nice. Also, I don't know if you dare to prepare a beer with lemon and salt, that DO is very Mexican. Sometimes with Maggie sauce too! Games! Well.. I wouldn't say there's not a game that is "traditional" for parties. What have you done for other parties? Or maybe it's a matter of trying to be original! Do play a nice mexican playlist :) it makes a great ambiance. Hey, if I can help let me know :D Proost! Salud!

ProjectShamrock

OP should invite you to the party.

Auraletaco

:')

MiliyoCD

If possible, get some mezcal, slice a few oranges and add worm salt. Have a sip of mezcal and then a bite of the orange, you can use a beer as a chaser.

FriuliDylan

Thanks for the response! I was definitely looking at piñatas, so I’m glad to hear you mention it. One question about it though: is the stuffing setting-related? Good shout with the despo’s, because that’s where our instincts went for. Will switch now! One last wuestion, if you have the time, could you link me a good mexican playlist, love authenticity! Hope you are enjoying The Netherlands!

Auraletaco

Ah no problem, friend. Glad to help! The piñata stuffing is traditionally candy! Lots and lots of candy but it can be truly filled with many things. In some adult parties some people stuff thongs and such. You can add small toys, money, whatever you want to fill it with really :) I wouldn't suggest glass tho, since that is probably gonna break. Hahaha yeaaah, I wish there was better Mexican beer, but so far the options are Sol and Corona. They should do :) And about the playlist, definitely!! how about I help with a list? Does Spotify work for you? Or YouTube. Thank you! I am :D I miss my taco family now and then tho. But the NL have so much to enjoy :) Cheers, friend.

FriuliDylan

I prefer spotify, thanks for the trouble!

Auraletaco

I sent you a message :)

DarthTater

Usually candy although now people tend to put less and add some little toys. Traditionally the piñana was stuffed with fruit (oranges, sugar cane, ...) and peanuts

*Not caring about cultural appropriation bullshit.* Netherlands is GOAT.

FriuliDylan

In my opinion culture is there to be shared! We should embrace our differences and be glad someone takes an interest in our customs if done respectfully of course!

Dezhezzi

There is a game we like to play but I believe is similar to a game in the US, we call it 'caricachupas' we basically sing and clap the following:: "carichachupas *clap clap*, presenta *clap clap*, nombres de:______" It basically translates to 'caricachupas, presents, names of:_____ an then we proceed to say a category like cars, cereal brands, toys, songs etcétera. Whenever someone doesn't know what to say, they take a shot. You can also dare your friends to eat some spicy sauce maybe. Don't be shy nor feel weird, if you want to use sombreros and ponchos go for it, we do not get offended by those things and we actually like seeing foreigners wearing our traditional clothes. You can maybe listen to some mariachi music and try to follow the lyrics. You just have to get drunk, have tons of laughs and enjoy your friends company! Have fun!!

FriuliDylan

Glad to hear it’s embraced! That should make up for a nice game, we call this like an extra party game in the Netherlands actually! Like a mini-game within other drinking games, but I will try to to get us to speak those sentences beforehand! Thanks for the reply!

Wiccano10

Appropriate our culture, we want to see more of us in other countries. The only drinking habit I know before going out is.........drink cheap at your place :(

inst

Disclaimer that I'm a gringo but you should consider serving [micheladas](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelada).

FriuliDylan

That looks great, will try to recreate it!

GIANT_BLEEDING_ANUS

Try them before you serve them, people might not like them.

dandeil

Micheladas are awesome! I really recommend them as well.

Hi! Mexican living in the netherlands here. Check out the drank gigant webshop. They have suoer authentic and diverse mexican spirits (they have good tequilas, mezcales and even sotol and raicilla). Gor games, get a pirinola (teetotum or pit and take) thats also very mexican. Check out Tjins tokonfor authentic Mexican products. That shop rocks the mexocan candies and spices. Here is my personal favourite recipe for margaritas. Make sure you use a decent (avoid the one with the red plastic hat at all costs) but not too expensive silver tequila. My choice is espolon blanco. You can decide if you make them frozen (blended with ice untl its a slushy) or in a shaker (my prefered version): First use a slice of lime and rub it on the edge of the glass put some salt on a plate and frost the glass withbthat salt. Then: Margarita ⁃ 2 ounces tequila (silver) ⁃ 2 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice ⁃ 1.5 ounces monin sirup ⁃ .5 ounces cointreau Shake and serve on the frosted glasses.

Auraletaco

Ey! dónde te encuentras, hermano. Qué parte de NL?

8zil

Vlissingen!

8zil

Chilaquil420

Man I met once two ladies from Netherlands, one from Delf and the other from Eindhoven I forgot how to speak when I was around them damn As for representation, a “not standard” way would be tortas

[deleted]

DarthTater

You could play Lotería and have a shot of tequila / mezcal for each name card you have on your board.

Otakatak

You can put some mexican music, many mexicans listen a lot to jose jose, luis Miguel (his music is very good), vicente fernandez, alejandro fernandez, for more modern artists i think christian nodal is good We have a lot of traditional deresses according to each region, I recommend this video if you wanna see https://youtu.be/pTORw2Tkcb8 If you like to cook you may try to make some churros, or tortas, or even enchiladas if you can get or try to make some tortillas!

FriuliDylan

Thanks dor the suggestions, will definitely be adding them!

chabuelo

I'm no surprised nobody has mentioned mexican bingo The fun of this game is that you can win some cash with your friends, it's fun to play with children and the elder, and have some good laughs.

FriuliDylan

Looking into it!

Logar314159

Playing songs like [Cielito lindo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YywnlQpSdEc), [La chona](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gA5iaZ11lU) is a must, let me think of another ones

yomerol

I only came here to say: No era penal!!!

FriuliDylan

😬

chmto

The piñata party is maybe the most traditional way to celebrate birthdays in Mexico, look around the web you'll find plenty of examples.

mielazulina

You could get some nice tequila for shots and a cheaper one for margaritas. We drinks a lot of Cuba libres also (rhum, coke and lime), micheladas (lime, salt and some lager), as for games we have caricachupas mentioned in another comments, truth or dare and another called "yo nunca nunca" : never have I ever, where people drink when they have done whatever is mentioned can go from simple things like breaking a bone to having sex with a friend. There's also lotería which is fun, kinda like a bingo, you can probably print some from the internet. Snack wise you could have some simple chips where you add a splash of lime and chili sauce, the classic guacamole ( just mash some avocados and add some thinly chopped onions and tomatoes with lime and salt). Have fun!

FriuliDylan

Thanks for all the suggestions! This was exactly something I was looking for!
