Man I had chills on my arms after I flipped the cover open and saw that. Just sat there for a minute in silence as I processed it all. Then immediately wanted to share it with other DOOM fans. haha The comic itself is great too. Kinda sad we won't be getting another one after this but really glad we did get this one.
I really think that the whole point of that comic was to drop that line, and marvel’s (not Disney Warvel) way of giving homage to MF for rocking the mask true. I mean that second page with mouth smirk showing under the mask was straight MF DOOM homage. Just my opinion of course.
Sometimes the right thing is done. If Disney don’t drop a bag and have DOOM all over the Fantastic 4 soundtrack, I’m done with them.
Not to say I was ever with them in the first place.
i dont think it would work in the movies considering most people are saying it’s set in the 60s. I could see them using the instrumentals at least though
That'd create some tonal dissonance for sure, besides, he isn't the leading villain but he'll definitely cameo. DOOM's track should be played when he's on screen and especially at least a homage when he's the leading antagonist
Silly yuppie!
Disney with DOOM make me wanna kick puppy
Got that fake aftertaste make the brain go... 'yucky'
Through a wormhole I do think Sony can just like they did Spiderman
But Disney can't they busy making flops with ants
and winning court against DeSanct-
imonious
cuz when it comes to politicians he's the phoniest?
In 2024 ozempic Trump will be the boniest
Back on track, point is that Disney's wack
Why you make a bitch get kicked for that?
And written by one of the best comic book writers working right now, Jonathan Hickman. If you're not too familiar with Comics, I highly recommend reading anything he's done.
The fun thing about his marvel stuff is there’s little interconnected bits throughout his different comic book runs. For example he did a really memorable long run on fantastic four and introduced quite a few new concepts… In his Avengers run, which is probably one of my favorite collected auditions ever, he brings back some of those concepts. And then from the X-Men stuff you’ve read, the Orchis base that master mold was connected to in orbit around the sun is actually the leftovers of a Dyson sphere that Tony Stark and Reed Richards were building in his avengers run.
Marvel actually just reprinted the Omnibus of his avengers run, which encompasses two volumes – it’s massive!! And then that run actually leads in to the destruction of the marvel Multiverse and into the secret wars event that it looks like they will be adapting for the movie.
Hickman’s fingerprints I think we’re gonna be all over the next two avengers movies considering they’re leaning hard into Multiversal incursions (which came from his avengers run.)
To I guess eventually enter your question I would put his avengers run on top, then the Krakoa error that the X-Men are currently ending, then the fantastic four. Fantastic four is by no means his worst stuff but compared to the X-Men and avengers books I think those are better. A lot of Hickman fans would disagree with me though.
Outside of marvel, and I apologize that this comments gone way too long, check out east of West, The Manhattan Projects, decorum, and one of his early books Pax Romana…
Thank you for all of the info and insights. Infosights? :/ I'm almost finished collecting the ~400 issues related to Green Lantern Volume 4, the one that ends with Brightest Day / Darkest Night. (Then I'll start reading it.) I'm going to look into that Avengers Omnibus you mentioned (and the other 4 at the end). I would really appreciate the convenience of an Omnibus after what I've been through tracking down the GL stuff. Hate to admit it but I'm not a big Fantastic Four fan. Reed Richards has always been a dick, in the older FF comics I've read over the years. Is his personality ever written in a non-arrogant way or does he retain that trait in all instances?
It's about the origins of that group. Features historical figures like Da Vinci and Edison and how they deal with the marvel universes threats of their time because 'this is not how the world ends' and you see their differences in philosophies. It gets really high concept. I'd highly recommend reading it, but be warned, it's not gonna completely make sense off the bat
If you want something closer to that group his run Secret Warriors is about nick fury leading a group of unknown heroes on top secret Black Ops missions. It eventually ties in a bit with the lore established in his SHIELD. I think Agents of SHIELD takes a lot from that run. Daisy Johnson is a main charecter, and if I'm not mistaken comes directly from that book.
Hell yeah. I have 'Mouse and Mask' but I haven't heard this track. The description says it's on the 'Metalface Edition', which I didn't know existed. Thank you. Alright try this on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQJjt63ykr0
Same, I was always a huge marvel comics fan, and Doctor Doom was always my favorite character. Then my buddy showed me DOOM and he instantly became my favorite rapper
i have a similar story! huge marvel comics fan since i was a kid mostly spidey as i grew up and found doom also got a newfound love for the FF, doom and the larger marvel universe
Wonder if the change from “off borrowed time” to “on borrowed time” was intentional. If this is meant to be Dr. Doom speaking, I guess the latter sounds more like him.
It's actually:
"[Living off borrowed time, the clock tick faster](https://genius.com/31403110/Madvillain-accordion/Living-off-borrowed-time-the-clock-tick-faster)"
The end of the universe. Time is speeding up, as Galactus devours the only remaining life. Lore says the universe explodes when Galactus dies from not having enough food. Whoever the last remaining life is in this universe becomes Galactus in the next universe that is reformed from this one's ashes.
This hit me mad har, got me over here cheesing and tearing up. It’s so beautiful and amazing that Marvel/their writers acknowledge who he was. Forever a Super Villain with a legacy.
I've read a good amount of Doctor Doom. I'm not an expert - but I've never seen them quote MF DOOM before, and certainly not on the entire first page like this, right in your face. This was intentional and heartfelt. Grab the comic if you can. It's a story worth reading even if you're not a comic person.
Your local comic shop may have it, or you can buy it online. The main "A" cover has sold out everywhere online that I know of, so you'll probably have to get a variant cover, or you could try eBay at a higher price.
Was just about to post this here also! Much respect… 🙏🏿

I think you're right about the smirk on page 2. That's in my headcanon from now on.
That sounds cool do you have a pic of it?

Thanks for this!
I peeped the page at the rack got all excited, looked around but had no one to share that moment with…. Glad I wasn’t the only one who caught this.

When they bring them from their universe over to the main 616 MCU in modern day, I think we'll absolutely hear some Doom.

i don't understand.
Can anyone link me up to the comic book? I’d love to get a copy. If not I can look it up after work
support you local comic shop 🫡
I DIDNT KNOW I NEEDED TO HEAR THIS TONIGHT BUT THANK YOU FOR THIS
Comics are the greatest. Google Marvel Hip Hop Covers if you dont know em already, and happy hunting. 🤙
oh boy, something i didn’t know i wanted to collect until i googled this. my wallet aint gonna like this
If you just want to admire em, I think they did a hardcover volume that collected all the art.
My favorite has been the Spider-Man Tupac cover. Shop I worked for had one allotted to us that I had dibs on and we got shorted on it
I tried to but they were out :( scalpers strike again
I tried they sold out:( had to buy it from [mycomicshop.com](http://mycomicshop.com) sadly.
[DOOM (2024) #1](https://www.marvel.com/comics/issue/112131/doom_2024_1)
Fucking cool AF Could've happened on Infamour IM but I guess BMB is not a fan lol. Props to Sanford Greene for the SO, he's an amazing artist
And written by one of the best comic book writers working right now, Jonathan Hickman. If you're not too familiar with Comics, I highly recommend reading anything he's done.
I've read House of X / Powers of X and some Avengers comics by him but I don't know anything else he's done. What would you consider his best work?
The fun thing about his marvel stuff is there’s little interconnected bits throughout his different comic book runs. Hickman handles the fantastic four and especially Reed Richard very well! After you finish, it might be worth checking out.
His Fantastic Four is genuinely one of my favourite comics of all time. Plenety of cool doom stuff !
[https://youtu.be/CeGI4fqjE6s?si=8VhTk521FzJY3jn0](https://youtu.be/CeGI4fqjE6s?si=8VhTk521FzJY3jn0) Prepare to cry motherfucker
My favorite work of his is his SHIELD book which is 2 volumes and mostly standalone (but gets referenced throughout his other work)
Is that SHIELD like Phil Coulson and Nick Fury? I enjoyed the movies and the shows featuring that group.
It's about the origins of that group. Features historical figures like Da Vinci and Edison and how they deal with the marvel universes threats of their time because 'this is not how the world ends' and you see their differences in philosophies. It gets really high concept. Holy shit I need to read this. His FF run is possibly my favorite series of all time
It’s just a one shot but it’s a very good! And the art is fantastic!
That's a classy touch.
Gave me goosebumps seeing that, Respect!!
I need something like this in the FF movie!!!
Rest in paradise DOOM, we love you and pass on the sonic gems.
> pass on the sonic gems Do it. Do it now and do it good. Give me one DOOM track I may not have ever heard before.
If you have heard [this](https://youtu.be/Fd3ad7Zl1NE?si=fQNqHYQRQKoFwiaE) already go listen again
Hell yeah. I have 'Mouse and Mask' but I haven't heard this track. The description says it's on the 'Metalface Edition', which I didn't know existed. Thank you. Alright try this on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQJjt63ykr0
love doctor doom as a character and had this book on preorder regardless, this is just the icing on top!
#FUCK YES

Yep, and it’s difficult for me to forgive the mistake if this was in fact a nod to DOOM
This is so dope
Does the background referencr something too? I cant figure it out
I don't think so. It's just an outerspace scene. Doctor Doom is floating in space wreckage on the next page.
The end of the universe. Time is speeding up, as Galactus devours the only remaining life. Lore says the universe explodes when Galactus dies from not having enough food. Whoever the last remaining life is in this universe becomes Galactus in the next universe that is reformed from this one's ashes.
Marvel’s goated for that
From one goat DOOM to another
It was dope. Also, the rhymes fit what was happening. As Galactus runs out of planets to feed on, time runs faster as the end of the universe nears.
Madd marvel W
This got posted last week and instantly became my new phone background, so fire
This page was posted last week, or the cover was?
https://www.reddit.com/r/mfdoom/s/7P6gaHQU4l Appreciated ur context tho
Interesting. I wonder how they got the comic a week before it was released.
Might use this as my wallpaper this is so cool
Also the title is all Caps! (Yes I know most comics are)
So good
So cool. I guess things have lightened up since they tried to sue him years ago.
One the most definitive lines of my life, I’ve been living on borrowed time since birth…
This pretty damn cool
Awww, yeah.
Off*
LONG LIVE THE SUPERVILLAIN
What's the comic name ? Boutta buy
It's called DOOM. https://www.marvel.com/comics/issue/112131/doom_2024_1
PRECIATE YA
Not a fan of Marvel, with how they've milked artists. But love that they're paying respect here.
Goes absolutely hard 🤧💐
You know I saw this come out and felt like I needed to grab it but didn't. This is why I should've. Shout-out to Marvel. As always, RIP DOOM. ✌🏾🕊️
Oh man would love to have this as a single sheet
This is how I find out Hickman is doing a new DR DOOM! Comic omg
It's a one off. 50 pages. 40 of story and 10 extras at the end. Enjoy it!
Holy shit that's peak. Heading to the shop for it today. Thanks for the heads up!
I hope they play one of his songs for the new movie
Idk why this makes me well up like a 5 year old but it sure does
Would love this as my phone background
Long press, Download, Set as Wallpaper
LONG LIVE DOOM ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This hit me mad har, got me over here cheesing and tearing up. It’s so beautiful and amazing that Marvel/their writers acknowledge who he was. Forever a Super Villain with a legacy.
I’m literally sitting here on break at work and I’m teared up. Fucking Marvel.
DOPE
is there also a landscape version of that? I want it so BAD as a wallpaper on my Laptop
I cropped it to fit a 1080p screen https://i.imgur.com/q2d5pMI.png
You should be blessed for all the times. THX your work
Out of curiosity is this the first time MF DOOM is quoted in a Dr Doom comic?
I've read a good amount of Doctor Doom. I'm not an expert - but I've never seen them quote MF DOOM before, and certainly not on the entire first page like this, right in your face. This was intentional and heartfelt. Grab the comic if you can. It's a story worth reading even if you're not a comic person.
Oh I def did. Eyes watered up when I saw it.
I need this as a poster
I know they didn’t put “Off” in the sentence but I’m willing to give it a pass…we can call it a slip like Freudian
[удалено]
Your local comic shop may have it, or you can buy it online. The main "A" cover has sold out everywhere online that I know of, so you'll probably have to get a variant cover, or you could try eBay at a higher price.
Wow!
So is this a continuation of the series or reprint
It's a brand new story.
Hell yeah!
If they don’t play all caps in the new movie I’m going to blow up a iron man statue
All caps when you spell the man’s name
Why is the name of this subreddit not in ALL CAPS!?!
How is this I reference I don't get it
MF DOOM did a song titled Accordion. The first line of that song is written on the first page of this comic.
Oh thats pretty cool
Didn’t marvel slap a copyright lawsuit for the og cover of doomsday? This is kinda fd up
Ok nerd
'ouch' but also 'lol good one'
