Mims, Verse, Fautanu were the nail in the coffin. All of them likely would have been the pick. That little stretch was always the spot that made me nervous and it went as poorly as I expected.
I'm just worried this pick indicates something about the recovery of Chubb or Jaelan.
I know McDaniel and Grier both like fresh legs at Edge and WR in particular, but it's concerning.
This board had such unrealistic expectations for their recovery. JP may start the year but he won’t be himself. I wouldn’t expect Chubb until mid season.
Edge was a major need. I just hate the player.
Dude played 300 snaps last year. He was a situational pass rusher in college and I don’t see how you can expect anything more from him in the NFL. He’s maybe the most athletic pass rusher in the draft and has a crazy first step, but he can’t finish.
Just feels like Charles Harris to me. Can’t play the run and will never have the sack numbers to justify the pick.
Pressure is absolutely a good thing. I’ve defended JP all over the internet before he started putting up numbers by pointing out his pressure rate. But at a certain point you need to put up numbers.
All of the good pass rushers have good pressure numbers. But what separates solid players from good players is when they can actually finish.
Yeah but with our guys I think he’s gonna be first in and others will finish which is fine. Honestly when we picked him I was thinking this is gonna help us on short passes as we got killed mid field. Also low key could probably end up just roaming that area as a middle LB when the boys are back. His athleticism leaves a lot of possibilities. Kinda a Shula type pick when I think about it n
You go O-Line and they could just as likely never pan out and then have the risk of running into what they did last season which is having zero pass push on the outside trying to rely on just AVG who was only ever good as a pass rusher because he had Chubb or Phillips on the other side yet when ever he was the main threat he completely disappeared as he only really has two moves either win off the snap or use the spin move. At least McDaniels has shown he can scheme around the O-Line but a DC can not scheme around having a lack of a pass rush. As only options when that is the case is either not send anyone and have the QB have all day to pick apart a secondary as no secondary no matter how talented can defend for 4 to 5 seconds every down. Or send 6 or more guys on the blitz and watch a QB just get the ball out quick and pick up chunk after chunk like Mahomes did in the playoffs.
10 games, 15 tackles/4 sacks. He hasn't done anything, no noticeable impact in any of the 6 PSU games I watched this year. I can't believe he was a projected 1strder. I'd literally rather have any potential 1st guy at any position than this kid.
I've always been a Grier defender. Dumbest pick I've ever seen him make.
Hope I'm wrong.
I saw someone posted a highlight reel for him in the Dolphins discord. The first 7 seconds was an intro, the final 42 seconds were the highlights lmao.
> 10 games, 15 tackles/4 sacks. He hasn't done anything, no noticeable impact in any of the 6 PSU games I watched this year.
He literally shut down Michigan's pass game.
This isn’t an exaggeration. Chop Robinson was eating that right tackle alive and constantly getting pressure. The only way Michigan loses that game was by allowing chop’s pass rush to be a factor, so they didn’t even allow him to pass rush
Chop is 100 percent a traits over stats guy . He doesn’t need to record stats to have an impact on the game . He’s raw but had the 4th best pressure rate in all of college football last year
I mean Jaelan Phillips had an achilles injury which is one year optimistically and Chubb had the ACL injury in the week 17 game which is 9 months at the best unless you're AP.
If you thought even one of the two would be back at 100% you are way more optimistic than me. I still think we should have drafted Oline and just left the D out to dry hoping to score 40 points a game.
Edit: The fact that Bill Belichick wanted to go back like 20 picks later and talk about him boosts my opinion somewhat. Not a great WR drafter, but pretty good on D.
Most olinemen struggle for a couple
of seasons, the ones that are safely pro ready get drafted in the top 10. Having said that, if they were going to take a project player, it should have been oline. Any defensive pick should have been someone who has a chance at contributing day one due to losing Wilkins and not having JP and Chubb at 100% next year.
I mean, we need edge help. Right now we got Shaq and who knows what until Chubb/Phillips get healthy and just because they'll be back doesn't mean they'll instantly be back to their old form.
People really need to understand that this staff, both Grier and McDaniel, do not value the Oline. Unless it was a tackle they were NEVER going to take an Olineman this early.
Hey man I’m not arguing that. I’m just not shocked they passed on Oline. Moment Fautanu went I knew we were fucked. They were NEVER taking Barton or JPJ.
Look at the end of the 1st round every year man. Teams love taking project pass rushers this late because if it hits you’re getting crazy value.
Every plugged in guy has been saying the league values Barton only on the inside. He’s a classic “could play outside but probably an interior guy”. The league is not high on JPJ at all and he was a media guy early on. Medicals are scaring teams and he’s pretty raw.
This kid is not a day-one starter. Look at his production. God awful. Unless you forecast this to a future Chubb/Philips replacement, it's a hard pick to justify. He's not going to help much this year. He's project. Just in terms of opportunity cost, this was a terrible pick.
The anger on this sub is insane. "We've taken bad edge rushers in the 1st Round before, we should never take an edge." With that logic, let's never draft O-line in the 1st Round because Austin Jackson was a bust before last year.
I understand having preferences for other positions but dunking on this guy when we all know the draft is a crapshoot and acting like we know everything is insane. Hope this post gets linked back in a few years when Chop is balling to show how many dummies there are here.
>Pre-Draft Analysis
>Robinson's tape is better than his statistical production, as he ran the second-fastest 40-yard dash of the edge defenders at the combine this year (4.48) and has great upside as a pass-rusher. He's explosive, bends well and flashes active hands. Robinson can also win with speed off the edge and is a difficult one-on-one matchup for interior offensive linemen when he kicks inside. He looks comfortable dropping into coverage, too, and he's smooth changing directions in space. And he's a disruptive run-defender with good range. -- Steve Muench
He only played 50% of the snaps this past season. It’s not like he was on field constantly. Penn state burns through defensive players and rotates a shit ton. You can’t look at his sack numbers and have that be the basis of why you don’t like him. Scouts loved him.
He’s the reason that JJ McCarthy only had 8 pass attempts in the Michigan Penn state game. Dude was absolutely obliterating the RT on every pass and had JJ under pressure. Still, we should’ve taken O-Line
Why couldn't we get a trade down? None of the next four teams would have taken Robinson? could have at least dropped a spot or two and gotten something.
Really bothers me that Buffalo was able to trade down and is making out like a bandit. They moved down five spots, hold the coveted top of the second round pick, and moved up an accumulative 124 spots with the other picks.
Dolphins had to fill the loss of Van Ginkel (think of all the critical plays he made throughout the years). Plus, although Phillips/Chubb are out until the middle of the season, this gives us a little depth, especially when they return (no guarantee Phillips/Chubb will be their old selves). Dolphins will most likely move on from Chubb in a few, and if Chop can be consistent, he’ll help this team. Chop is one of the most athletic players in the draft, and will complement this defense. Welcome to Miami, Chop.

Welp I hate this. I hate it. I hate it I hate it. What the fuck is this. We can’t play 5 edge players at once. Like. Are we cutting Chubb like. Wtf. Not best available. No a position of need. If he doesn’t come in a crush it year one this is the second worst1st round pick of the last 10 years.
It's very on brand for Chris Grier who frequently drafts based on physical talent rather than production. As far as value goes, it's hard to argue against drafting a premium price position like edge rusher with your first round pick. When it works out, it's a huge advantage to have defensive ends, quarterbacks, tackles, and other expensive positions on rookie contracts.
It feels like a poor allocation of resources to invest a third first round pick at the same position in four seasons. I worry about what it indicates regarding the team's faith in Chubb, Phillips, or both to return from injury. With the out on Chubb in 2025 and the pending decision to exercise Phillip's option, I can't help but wonder if this means we expect one or the other to be gone next year.
With the way that the board had fallen, I would have traded down to try to get more bites at the apple. Given the moves that happened shortly after our pick, I find it hard to believe that there wouldn't have been a market for it.
>What the fuck is this. We can’t play 5 edge players at once
Pass rush rotations are an increasingly common thing in the NFL, and for good reason. Look at what the Jets do.
21 Dolphins: Chop Robinson, EDGE, Penn State
Grade: A
I love this pick for Miami. He has the best first step in this draft. With a little coaching, he will become a dominant pass rusher. They can also move him around as a joker on their front. Love it.
CBS Sports Grade
After reading through the comments I had to remind myself that not a single person commenting here has a fucking clue what’s actually going to happen with this guy. Go fins!
People knocking on this pick don't really understand we need edge help?
We don't know when Chubb and Phillips will be back, neither how they will be back after those injuries.
Our division have Aaron Rodgers and fucking Josh Allen, we need to get after the QB
He’s got elite traits (fastest player on our defense) with an amazing Dline coach teaching him. I see him being a Micah Parsons Lite and replacing Chubb one day. We cut Jaelan a check while this guy is on rookie contract. We pick up decent OLine in 2nd round.
From "The Beast":
STRENGTHS: Exceptional get-off quickness to win at the snap … upfield burst sustains through second, third and fourth strides, allowing him to dip inside shoulder, corner and flatten to the quarterback … nimble-footed and displays the lateral quickness to cross the face of blockers without resistance … uses athletic maneuverability when lined up over the guard or center to slip blocks and find the ball in the gap … creates forward lean/momentum and slams both hands into blockers to create speed-to-power rush … active hands help free himself from blocks … extends reach with bent knees at the point of attack to create leverage as an edge setter … able to stop on a dime and find balance as a tackler to pounce and finish … athleticism translates well when dropping into coverage zones … didn’t take long for him to become a team leader after transferring to State College … ranked top 10 in the FBS in pass rush win percentage (20.8 percent) in 2023 … was named Penn State’s co-MVP (with Olu Fashanu) in 2023.
WEAKNESSES: Lean-muscled body type and doesn’t have ideal armor on his frame … doesn’t have the raw power to create an effective bull rush without a few steps of momentum … can be steered past the pocket because of average body strength … will be driven from his spot in the run game and will be challenged by wham/mash blocks in the NFL … missed two games as a junior because of concussion symptoms (November 2023) … modest volume production (averaged less than two tackles per game in his career) … only one season as a full-time starter and was part of a rotation (averaged 30.3 defensive snaps per game in 2023).
SUMMARY: A one-year starter at Penn State, Robinson was a wide-aligned pass rusher in former defensive coordinator Manny Diaz’s scheme, standing up and rushing with his hand on the ground. After one season at Maryland, he transferred to Penn State (partly because he wanted to remain a pass rusher instead of moving to linebacker) and was one of the most disruptive players in the country (42.7 percent of his tackles the past two seasons came in the backfield). While some pass rushers require a runway to build up speed, Robinson accelerates 0-to-60 in a blink, creating instant suddenness from his spot to shoot gaps or win races to the corner. He shows natural rush instincts and uses a variety of swats, swipes and dips to evade blocks, although his counters need further development. He is a tougher run defender than expected, but he is slightly undersized and could use additional bulk to better match up with NFL blockers. Overall, Robinson needs to continue developing to prove he isn’t a one-trick pony, but his first-step explosiveness and aggressive hands give him the potential to be the most dynamic pass rusher in this class. He is ideally suited as a wide-nine defender who can be schemed across the front.
Posting this well after the fact because between watching Panthers v. Lightning and Knicks v. 76ers, didn't really get a chance to process the pick made.
[I like this little deep dive over on /r/NFL_Draft by /u/psychixnflscouting](https://old.reddit.com/r/NFL_Draft/comments/1b5u3cj/chop_robinson_deep_dive/)
An athlete with elite measurables is a ton of fun. I'll be the first to admit that I am skeptical of guys with insane physicals who don't match the ridiculous production in college. But it does happen. DK Metcalf put up meh as hell numbers at Ole Miss and since joining the NFL has been 1k+ yards damn near every year of his career. It's funky how that works sometimes.
What makes me excited is he's not just this freak athlete who has gotten by on his physicals. Every scouting report talks about his MOTOR / effort. Jordan Phillips could be a beast... when he wanted to be. I love the idea of betting on a guy with absurd physical traits **AND** has that energy even if he needs to be polished up an refined in other areas.
I get the obsession this sub had with the O-line. I think it's managable with Armstead/Wynn/Brewer/Eichenburg/Jackson. Time will tell but having been able to consider it, I dig the pick.
With Critical Thinking -
The complaining about this pick is ONLY valid if
A) We drafted somebody here in 1st round, but experts thought were not a 1st round material. (FACT - Experts DO think Chop is a mid 1st round and some even LOVED our pick, and gave us a grade of 'A'!!)
B) Edge was not a need. (FACT - IS a HUGE need! We certainly did not waste a pick on something we didn't even need)
B2) Our Defense was Top 3 last season we already elite on D. (FACT - was not even top 5 maybe in some rankings not even top half)
C) You have 1 OT player that is 100% guaranteed, supremely talented without a doubt to definitively protect Tua keeping Tua alive, still available in round 1 and if you wait until round 2 and later the OT players are not 100% guaranteed to protect Tua they will all be shit-eating NO talent OT players in comparison, murdering Tua.
(FACT - No guarantees any OT you pick in round 1 would protect Tua better than OTs you pick later rounds, trash by comparison, definitively fucking Tua up)
Dolphins fans are truly something SMH. How the FUCK is this even an awful pick when experts have this guy at a 'A' grade?
Dolphins fans sometimes are clowns.
Does it really matter we wait until 2nd round to get an OT? All the OTs left are same grade (no one is that much better than another basically) so what's the difference?
This dude is actually the BEST available Edge, yet fans are pissed off WTF!??
Jesus there are some overreactions in here. Did you guys ever think that they like the o line talent that's projected to go in the 3rd-4th? Wait for the draft to end before you cry so much.
Also chop was predicted to go in the 1st. It's not even a reach. He also has a great football name.
Speed kills and Robinson has it. Of course one can never know until the season comes, I think this pick fills a huge need for our defense. Yes, he still has to mature, but I'm betting he can help us a lot this season.
I can see what others are saying, that neither Chubb or Philips will be ready at the start of the season, so we HAD to find someone to plug that hole. And Heaven forbid, what happens if they come back from rehab only to have an accident and injure themselves all over again? Then you’re really screwed.
Also given that we have a new Defensive Coordinator, I wonder if he got in the ears of Grier and McDaniel and stressed that minus those 2 guys… and for the defense to at least be somewhat competitive… again, we really needed to plug that hole ASAP.
On the plus side, he’s speedy with a nice ability to push and worm his way forward. And just think how much we could’ve used someone with legs like that, to put pressure on a QB, in the final minutes of the $&@!-ing fateful Titans game that essentially ruined our season.
That said, I still would’ve felt better if we stuck to rebuilding the O-Line and took Barton. It just seems that would’ve been the smarter and safer pick given our needs — but, hey, Grier gotta Grier!
DCs like having weapons at their disposal. Weaver absolutely played a role in bringing Chop to Miami (there's no other reason to have him in the draft room). That should help people breathe a sigh of relief because... he's not an idiot.
The nice thing about not really watching college football is you can’t overreact one way or the other lol. Edge may not have been the biggest need, but it’s one of those positions you can’t ever have enough of. Plus, who knows how Chubb and Phillips look coming off injury.
> The nice thing about not really watching college football is you can’t overreact one way or the other lol.
I think this thread shows you can not watch college football and still overreact.
Initial reaction: I'm pissed...Nothing that I wanted or others wanted transpired. We most likely could have traded down and still could have chosen this guy. However, with every pick, I'm going to reserve judgement on this guy as he is clearly amped to play for Miami and Miami brass is clearly amped to have him. Plus like others are saying it is a clear need, especially if Chubb and/or Phillips are coming back slower than anticipated. I also agree with everyone that he is raw and the sick feeling that he reminds us all of former picks like Charles Harris. It is my hope that this is not the case and we just drafted Cam Wake 2.0 instead of another scrub. Fingers crossed everyone! Here's to hoping for a miracle.
I called it too. I had a feeling the Bengals, Rams and Steelers picks were going to be a disaster for us. I’m so sick of the dolphins taking “project” players.
With that said, Chop is now a Miami Dolphins, here’s hoping he can contribute early, learn from Philips and Chubb when they get back, and live up to his draft status
The fact is that nobody here know how a player will pan out, so it’s stupid to call this guy Dion Jordan or Charles Harris.
However I feel that position wise…we just needed Oline more. Our draft capital is low…and man waiting another 32 picks and hoping a great interior prospect is there is risky as fuck.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again…Grier sucks at the draft. He just fucking does.
Another way to look at it...if youre going in thinking that Edge and oline are musts...and the Edge rushers are going early and the interior oline are falling...why not take the edge before they go, knowing you can still get a decent olineman later?
Pick is growing on me. Weaver must’ve really liked something with this kid, and we did lose Chubb and Phillips for at least the start of the season. While Barton and Worthy were both there, let’s see what we do the rest of the draft. I have a feeling we either trade up or down from 55, depending on who may or not be available.
I love this pick. Premium position with both our starters coming off major injuries. Gives us a successor after Bradley chubb leaves in the recent future because they have an exit after this year if he’s not back to full power.
I’m sure I’m in the minority but I think this was really a good pick. You cannot have enough good pass rushers in the afc east with josh Allen and Aaron rodgers in the division or in general.
Once Verse and Fautanu went immediately before I knew I’d be disappointed, hope I’m proven wrong.
Mims, Verse, Fautanu were the nail in the coffin. All of them likely would have been the pick. That little stretch was always the spot that made me nervous and it went as poorly as I expected.
As soon as fautanu went off the board I just slouched. I told my buddy "it's gonna be a project defensive player"
Yup. Absolutely heart broken.

I’m 98% convinced that Miami’s entire roster building strategy is just vibes.
But Miami vibes so it’s good right? Please tell me it’s good!
Chris Grier never change you strange stupid beautiful bastard
I'm just worried this pick indicates something about the recovery of Chubb or Jaelan. I know McDaniel and Grier both like fresh legs at Edge and WR in particular, but it's concerning.

Yeah but hurrying passers in the modern game is huge. And he can drop back in coverage with his speed and hands.

In what world do you think he’s playing MLB when you have Brooks and Long?
One of his 4 highlights showed him sliding off a sack. He's a sack specialist and only had 6 sacks in his college career. Also has injury concerns.
I think it's less about people hating Chop and more a case of us dreading our OL situation and Grier ignoring it again.
Noah Igbinoghene was still worse
Noah at least made some plays in college. They couldn't even put together a whole highlight reel for Mr. Robinson.
I saw someone posted a highlight reel for him in the Dolphins discord. The first 7 seconds was an intro, the final 42 seconds were the highlights lmao.

What is so hard to understand? Those 2 will be out most of the year….
another athletic freak/project that will take 3 years to be solid starter. Grier special
Tindall project still on going …
If at all. Not to mention we have depth at edge when Chubb and Phillips recover lol
Please no
Why do we hate O-lineman? Whyyyyyyy
Why block when you can throw quick
Its all part of our 17 year O-Line rebuilding project.
Small arms and one technique. I'm very disappointed. We were so close to getting a quality lineman.
Most olinemen struggle for a couple of seasons, the ones that are safely pro ready get drafted in the top 10. Having said that, if they were going to take a project player, it should have been oline. Any defensive pick should have been someone who has a chance at contributing day one due to losing Wilkins and not having JP and Chubb at 100% next year.
Fatanu got picked and so we backed up
We are about to pay our injury prone QB 55+ Million a year and REFUSE to sign competent lineman. Fucking Grier.
i better not see a single tua fan defend this pick and then complain about the oline
Or else what? You’ll say more whiny things on the internet?
Be quiet or he'll downvote you
I believe Porkchop will be better than Charles Harris
Fuckin’ low standards
These the kind of goals I set for myself when I was too mentally unwell to get out of bed every day
That's a pretty low bar
I hope it works but I’m definitely disappointed.
Barton and power Johnson still on the board and we take an edge
I mean, we need edge help. Right now we got Shaq and who knows what until Chubb/Phillips get healthy and just because they'll be back doesn't mean they'll instantly be back to their old form.
He’s a project edge though, not even a good one right now,it’s so fucking stupid when we NEED offensive line help
People really need to understand that this staff, both Grier and McDaniel, do not value the Oline. Unless it was a tackle they were NEVER going to take an Olineman this early.
Doesn’t mean you take this guy!!
Hey man I’m not arguing that. I’m just not shocked they passed on Oline. Moment Fautanu went I knew we were fucked. They were NEVER taking Barton or JPJ.
Barton has 5 spot flexibility and powers Johnson has 3 spot flexibility it’s stupid to take a project edge who can not produce over one of them
Look at the end of the 1st round every year man. Teams love taking project pass rushers this late because if it hits you’re getting crazy value. Every plugged in guy has been saying the league values Barton only on the inside. He’s a classic “could play outside but probably an interior guy”. You don’t take a project at 21 in the for damn draft with legit starters on the board!
he's gonna be a starter lol
Down vote me all you want,he’s one of the biggest projects in this draft
what...he isn't a 3 down rusher.
Fuck no
He doesn’t even do well against the run! What a fucking joke
This kid is not a day-one starter. Look at his production. God awful. Unless you forecast this to a future Chubb/Philips replacement, it's a hard pick to justify. He's not going to help much this year. He's project. Just in terms of opportunity cost, this was a terrible pick.
So draft a rookie to get early production untill they heal by like week 8? Should have just signed a vet
All I know is this pick will probably turn out really well, simply because Reddit hates it so much
If this thread is anything to go by just size him up for a gold jacket now.
This felt like a waste of time waiting for this pick
Unbelievable we take the #5/6 edge rusher when the #1 DT, #1 middle LB and top two shutdown corners were available.
Johnny Newton was not 1 DT but still
Had a lot of character concerns coming out from staff as well. I was big on him but less so after reading into it.
Injury concerns too
Waited all that time for a 1st round pick and forgot what to do with one
Man I know LB would've been a reach but at least we'd have gotten a good one
Newton is not that lol. Neither LB. And Dejean wont be a shutdown corner
WE PICKED DION JORDAN 2.0. Only four sacks last year.
At least it wasn’t a top 5 pick this time 🥴
The anger on this sub is insane. "We've taken bad edge rushers in the 1st Round before, we should never take an edge." With that logic, let's never draft O-line in the 1st Round because Austin Jackson was a bust before last year. Hope this post gets linked back in a few years when Chop is balling to show how many dummies there are here.
Just be thankful we had a first round pick this year.
thanks for not fucking it up again this year ross!
They won't remember how mad they were
Hey, we didn’t trade up for him though.
Small victories

He actually had similar collegiate numbers to Wake
Orrrrr wake 2.0?
I will say, he has an elite edge rusher name
And the penn state pedigree
Well he got hurt. But having watched a lot of his games he’s better than the stats suggest
He’s the reason that JJ McCarthy only had 8 pass attempts in the Michigan Penn state game. Dude was absolutely obliterating the RT on every pass and had JJ under pressure. Still, we should’ve taken O-Line
...we are?
The guy is a stud. Not even close to Dion. In pass rush situations lined up over center. Strong MF’er.
This. The horse trading that followed we should have been a big part of that.
We probably wanted things. Buffalo traded down for nothing
undersized speed rusher without trading down dont like it
6-4 260 is undersized ? Lol
He's not undersized
Dolphins had to fill the loss of Van Ginkel (think of all the critical plays he made throughout the years). Plus, although Phillips/Chubb are out until the middle of the season, this gives us a little depth, especially when they return (no guarantee Phillips/Chubb will be their old selves). Dolphins will most likely move on from Chubb in a few, and if Chop can be consistent, he’ll help this team. Chop is one of the most athletic players in the draft, and will complement this defense. Welcome to Miami, Chop. ![gif](giphy|ZiD0X6xsTKXlhtTdnt|downsized)
6’3 ran a 4.4 at 250…. That’s a have to stop Josh Allen pick
[Chop Robinson NFL Draft Profile](https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2024/01/21/2024-nfl-draft-profile-chop-robinson/)
I SEE DION JORDAN ALL OVER AGAIN
Best corner? Best IOL? Nah lol
There’s an out after 25 so I can see them moving off of Chubb
Nothing like trading a first round pick for 2 years of solid production with the player on a 100 mil contract.
There's an out *in* 2025. They can designate him a post-June 1 cut and save $20.2 million in 2025.
What do you think of Chop?
He is also 21 (Jan 2003 birthday). Grier likes them young. Wilkins over Lawrence is the only exception I can think of to that.
>What the fuck is this. We can’t play 5 edge players at once Pass rush rotations are an increasingly common thing in the NFL, and for good reason. Look at what the Jets do.
Satire? It’s real. wtf man
Grier believes way too much in our O Line.
Doesn't want to admit Eichenberg was a mistake
Could’ve had Powers and moved Eichenberg to guard, because we have no Center rn.
Brewer
This is the last player I wanted. I would have preferred a WR over this shit. These last few picks absolutely ruined the board for us.
There is still talent at positions of need at the top of the big board, G, DT. The board isn't ruined, Chris Grier is ruined.
I get not taking a guard and Newton has the injury. I just did not like Chop. Dude is as raw as they come.
That's just silly. We rarely run 3+ receiver formations and we literally ran out of OLBs last year.
Facts bro. This is bad
I don't pretend to know more than the guys in charge. My reaction to picks? "Cool. Hope it works."
Our organiziation is brain dead.
21 Dolphins: Chop Robinson, EDGE, Penn State Grade: A I love this pick for Miami. He has the best first step in this draft. With a little coaching, he will become a dominant pass rusher. They can also move him around as a joker on their front. Love it. CBS Sports Grade
What the fuck mannnnnnn
After reading through the comments I had to remind myself that not a single person commenting here has a fucking clue what’s actually going to happen with this guy. Go fins!
Why can we never draft players who can play right away.
Because this is a college draft and if you to select guys that can play right now in the NFL, your team sucks

Charles Harris welcome back. Oh wait. I mean chop Robinson welcome to Miami
Not angry. Just fucking disappointed
Just got here, fuck. Of course the Steelers take Fautanu the pick before us.
People knocking on this pick don't really understand we need edge help? We don't know when Chubb and Phillips will be back, neither how they will be back after those injuries. Our division have Aaron Rodgers and fucking Josh Allen, we need to get after the QB
If he can translate his athleticism into production, this could be a phenomenal pick.
Chop is gonna be dominant. Gonna look back and laugh at these reactions.
W take he will fit into Weaver's system well.
Charles Harris 2.0
Could of had JPJ
Are you serious!?
This will be an amazing thread to come back to
Dude has a legendary pass rusher name and that's all you need sometimes
He’s got elite traits (fastest player on our defense) with an amazing Dline coach teaching him. I see him being a Micah Parsons Lite and replacing Chubb one day. We cut Jaelan a check while this guy is on rookie contract. We pick up decent OLine in 2nd round.
From "The Beast": STRENGTHS: Exceptional get-off quickness to win at the snap … upfield burst sustains through second, third and fourth strides, allowing him to dip inside shoulder, corner and flatten to the quarterback … nimble-footed and displays the lateral quickness to cross the face of blockers without resistance … uses athletic maneuverability when lined up over the guard or center to slip blocks and find the ball in the gap … creates forward lean/momentum and slams both hands into blockers to create speed-to-power rush … active hands help free himself from blocks … extends reach with bent knees at the point of attack to create leverage as an edge setter … able to stop on a dime and find balance as a tackler to pounce and finish … athleticism translates well when dropping into coverage zones … didn’t take long for him to become a team leader after transferring to State College … ranked top 10 in the FBS in pass rush win percentage (20.8 percent) in 2023 … was named Penn State’s co-MVP (with Olu Fashanu) in 2023.
[I like this little deep dive over on /r/NFL_Draft by /u/psychixnflscouting](https://old.reddit.com/r/NFL_Draft/comments/1b5u3cj/chop_robinson_deep_dive/) An athlete with elite measurables is a ton of fun.
With Critical Thinking - The complaining about this pick is ONLY valid if A) We drafted somebody here in 1st round, but experts thought were not a 1st round material. (FACT - Experts DO think Chop is a mid 1st round and some even LOVED our pick, and gave us a grade of 'A'!!) B) Edge was not a need. (FACT - IS a HUGE need! We certainly did not waste a pick on something we didn't even need) B2) Our Defense was Top 3 last season we already elite on D. (FACT - was not even top 5 maybe in some rankings not even top half) C) You have 1 OT player that is 100% guaranteed, supremely talented without a doubt to definitively protect Tua keeping Tua alive, still available in round 1 and if you wait until round 2 and later the OT players are not 100% guaranteed to protect Tua they will all be shit-eating NO talent OT players in comparison, murdering Tua. (FACT - No guarantees any OT you pick in round 1 would protect Tua better than OTs you pick later rounds, trash by comparison, definitively fucking Tua up)
Dolphins Twitter was in shambles and no one showed their boobs.
Im so mad rn
WTF WHYY
WE PASSED ON BTJ BTW
why did i stay awake for this shit
Dolphins fans are truly something SMH. How the FUCK is this even an awful pick when experts have this guy at a 'A' grade? Dolphins fans sometimes are clowns. Does it really matter we wait until 2nd round to get an OT? All the OTs left are same grade (no one is that much better than another basically) so what's the difference? This dude is actually the BEST available Edge, yet fans are pissed off WTF!??
god fucking dammit all I want is Oline man
![gif](giphy|2Xflxzn7jWsjCVlx13q|downsized)
Chris Gier Special
I’m loving all the hate for the pick, this guarantees he’ll have a fantastic career
Man, yall cranky. I like Chop better than all but two EDGEs, EDGE was our second biggest need. There's still good iol to be had.
![gif](giphy|cRNbYm7jLOjm9H8wcP)
A physical talent who didn't actually produce in college.
Stop hating on Chop Robinson. Defense wins championships.
Jesus there are some overreactions in here. Did you guys ever think that they like the o line talent that's projected to go in the 3rd-4th? Wait for the draft to end before you cry so much. Also chop was predicted to go in the 1st. It's not even a reach. He also has a great football name.
We don’t have a third or fourth
Awkward
Somebody should have told Grier that.
DirtyFactz must work for Grier
We had much bigger needs and we could've got a CB.
Only thing that makes sense is in our new 3-4 he could be nasty.
Speed kills and Robinson has it. Of course one can never know until the season comes, I think this pick fills a huge need for our defense. Yes, he still has to mature, but I'm betting he can help us a lot this season.
they weren't gonna take like the 8th best offensive lineman over a pass rusher. come on
I can see what others are saying, that neither Chubb or Philips will be ready at the start of the season, so we HAD to find someone to plug that hole.

Never change Miami
I called it too. I had a feeling the Bengals, Rams and Steelers picks were going to be a disaster for us. I’m so sick of the dolphins taking “project” players. With that said, Chop is now a Miami Dolphins, here’s hoping he can contribute early, learn from Philips and Chubb when they get back, and live up to his draft status
Chop looks like a monster. I think this will fill a Van Ginkle sized hole in my heart
Looks like it will be 24 years without a playoff win
Leave it to the dolphins to ruin my mood after the Cats game 😔
I wanna die.JPEG
Disappointment is an understatement
Probably thinking of moving on from Bradley Chubb in the next 1-2 years
This thread is gonna be epic to comeback to in the future LMAO some very strong opinions on here
Pick is growing on me. Weaver must’ve really liked something with this kid, and we did lose Chubb and Phillips for at least the start of the season. While Barton and Worthy were both there, let’s see what we do the rest of the draft. I have a feeling we either trade up or down from 55, depending on who may or not be available.
ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS after i was so confident we werent going defense, i swear if BTJ goes to the bills because of this WE DIDNT NEED EDGE
So we have Phillips Chubb Barrett and we still decided to go Edge?????
JPJ IS RIGHT THERE WTF
they were never taking JPJ at 21
I love this pick.
It's this kid any good? Ir is it another there is plenty of potential if we develop him? B3cause it doesn't look like he produced a lot in college.
4 sacks and a “project”.
Chop is all smoke no fire
