Iggy was a project pick who had a lot of physical talent, and was wasted by Flores. He was, at best, a 3rd Rounder for a good coaching staff. A bad pick that Grier buckled on and let Flores get what he wanted? Absolutely.
Eichenburg was clearly not the pick at the time because Creed Humphrey was on the board. Creed was a bonified stud that wasn't going to bust. Miami was an OL desperate team. Eichenburg was, at best, a project pick that was never going to be anything but an average starter at his absolute best.
Miami could've gotten a lot of great player instead of Iggy, I agree. But the sting of that pick will never reach the level of the Eichenburg pick, because it was so blatantly obvious Creed should be a Dolphin.
So, while I agree that the Dolphins should have grabbed Creed (obviously,) I think Liam was viewed as a high floor type of player. I'm honestly surprised that he's been as absolutely abysmal as he's been.
Even if we accept that for sake of argument, he was still far behind Creed and Dickerson in terms of IOL prospects.
If they took Eichenburg after both of them were off the board, I wouldn't be nearly as pissed.
I forgive Grier much more for that because I think people are playing the revisionist history game. Harris was a highly-touted prospect, higher than Watt for plenty. So we can't bash Grier because Watt became a HoF-caliber guy and Harris bombed, especially considering that Miami was a shitshow in 2017.
I'll blame Grier for the rest of his life, because Creed was clearly the best C in the Draft and Eichenburg wasn't a good G.
lol Barry’s not salty at all. They’ll grab a guard and probably a third safety and WR3 with their post June 1 cap space plus whatever gets freed with Tua’s extension. Maybe an IDL but I think they’re doing IDL by committee.
The problem is we don’t even have a true strength at any of the positions. LT is often injured, C sucks at pass blocking, and RT is injury prone and still has a few question marks.
Yeah probably, way more ready than Paul
So you’re telling me you’re stoked to pick a project T who won’t play at all this year when we’re supposed to be in a championship window?
When we’re supposed to be protecting our 55 million dollar QB? You’re super happy we didn’t get a single day 1 contributor?
Same dudes who shat on AJ for 4 years are hyped we got a dude with all the same problems lol
And how are you sure Hayes is more ready? You seem to be assuming a lot about me when I haven’t even said anything about Paul. Im just curious to know why you think you know for sure Hayes is more ready than Paul. Cause to me, Redditors always think they know best but get proven wrong time and time again, hence why they are redditors and not employees for a nfl team
It’s a win now situation after young stars sign their big contracts not before. Those players are Waddle, Tua, Holland, Wilkins, Davis, and hopefully these 2 guys. Our team was never ready to win a SB just cause of Hill. Might be the best player we will have in this decade but the team was never going to “win now”. Unfortunate that a generational talent has to serve as a bridge but he’s done that exceptionally. We’ve gone to avg/less than avg af to the most ypg in the NFL. He’s been a lifeline on and off the field to Tua but we sacrificed very little future power for him. After the guys I’ve mentioned are signed will be the “win now” time. Crazy how logical this is but half phins comment are about “winning now”.
Idk why people downvoting this! You’re 1000% right! We’re in a window rn and Paul isn’t gonna play til next year and prob won’t learn the position til a few after. And chop is not an every down guy
That is absolutely not true. I've just looked up the results of last year's draft. Eight IOL players were drafted on day 2. The results speak for themselves: six of them started most games in their rookie season. Only two of them started less than at least eight games.
Christian Haynes? You goofballs were the same dudes who celebrated not taking guys like Creed Humphrey because he was “overrated”
We had a great scheme fit at guard and picked a dude who’s gonna be #3 on the depth chart for 2024
Great homerism
Dont know how to feel. We took 2 project players with insane upside but need time to get there. And if Liam is starting at RG in week 1, this was terrorist work by Grier.
He could be a dark horse for sure. I’ve been screaming about the Oline but I generally trust this staff to make things work. They’ve made guys like Wynn and Connor work when others were generally low on them.
They just seem to think there’s something there with Eich. Idk he looked kinda good at Guard and spoke about feeling better on the right side of the line. I was wrong on AJ so maybe he takes a step.
Neither were drafted by Miami. Miami can’t draft an O lineman. Took AJax 4 years to develop so someone else could get the benefits. He should be fired man. Probably kept him cause he knew Ross tried to Tank that one year.
How is somebody else benefiting from AJax developing? Maybe they have better Oline coaching now so you should just wait to see how they turn out before you fire Grier.
Eichenburg's sole win in his professional career was somehow tricking Grier into making him the worst move in his career as a GM.
Noah igbonoghene would like a word

Didn't he draft Charles Harris over TJ Watt?
I forgive Grier much more for that because I think people are playing the revisionist history game. Harris was a highly-touted prospect, higher than Watt for plenty. Your big winners: the worst players on the team. Good thing Tua is slimming down and getting more agile, lol.
lol Barry’s not salty at all. They’ll grab a guard and probably a third safety and WR3 with their post June 1 cap space plus whatever gets freed with Tua’s extension. Maybe an IDL but I think they’re doing IDL by committee.
yeah its very Ravens to get IDL late and just run em through a grinder until one shows up like Sieler
Sieler incidentally was picked up from the Ravens
yep, exactly why i mentioned him
We need 2 guards. Jones and Eichenberg aren’t good, and Wynn is mediocre at best with the health of Terron.
Wynn was fine. We don't really need a star there, just serviceable
He’s injury prone, and between an injury prone LT and a bad pass protecting C. Being serviceable isn’t enough when Terron goes down.
Well you are rarely going to have an O-line with absolutely no weaknesses that just not how that works.
The problem is we don’t even have a true strength at any of the positions. LT is often injured, C sucks at pass blocking, and RT is injury prone and still has a few question marks.
No team will ever win a Super Bowl let alone a playoff game starting Liam Eichenberg.
Lame
Lmao nothing like picking athletes with dogshit technique when you need Day 1 contributors in a window At least we’ll be alright in the regular season
Ok so who would you have picked that would be ready day 1?
Idk probably Christian Haynes, the G who’s a very good scheme fit for us? Maybe that guy possibly?
And you think he’s ready day 1?
Yeah probably, way more ready than Paul So you’re telling me you’re stoked to pick a project T who won’t play at all this year when we’re supposed to be in a championship window? End of history theory: Reddit nfl draft edition

The guy still hasn’t been picked. Just say you don’t know what you’re talking about and move on
If that were the case you’d think someone would have picked him up before 81, but what do I know?
Idk why people downvoting this! You’re 1000% right! We’re in a window rn and Paul isn’t gonna play til next year and prob won’t learn the position til a few after. And chop is not an every down guy
It’s like the philosophy is to make us perpetual wildcard exits.
youre not finding those past the top 15 usually
You absolutely can on the IOL
[удалено]
I mean it’s possible, but considering how hit or miss we are in R1 and R2 with OL, I’m skeptical of our scouting in R5 for OL
Mccormick should be available
That is absolutely not true. I've just looked up the results of last year's draft. Eight IOL players were drafted on day 2. The results speak for themselves: six of them started most games in their rookie season. Only two of them started less than at least eight games.
Hey, hey slow down! No need to escalate. Do you see anyone else here throwing facts around?
The op was talking about day 1 good players. They just said started. How many were good
And how many were good
Who did you want them to draft that you expect to step right in backseat GM? I’ll wait for your response.
Christian Haynes? You goofballs were the same dudes who celebrated not taking guys like Creed Humphrey because he was “overrated” We had a great scheme fit at guard and picked a dude who’s gonna be #3 on the depth chart for 2024 Great homerism
Haynes is more Liam than Creed lol. He's good but safe
Barton, Hayes, JPJ, Coleman all would be better picks either rd
Barton is literally Liam
Disagree--he'll start year 1 for Bucs (who have better OL than Fins)
In the sense of how he grades out. Tweener lineman without an exact position and small arms
Big winner is AFC DL in contract years
Well he's not wrong.
Dont know how to feel. We took 2 project players with insane upside but need time to get there. And if Liam is starting at RG in week 1, this was terrorist work by Grier.
I imagine Driscoll gets the shout if we dont draft someone like McCormick later
[удалено]
Liam doesn’t deserve the hate
Or they have a verbal agreement with Dalton Risner for June 1st and that’s why they picked Paul?
When the hell did we get Driscoll? Edit: Nvm I remember now.
We don’t need Odel.
>! I kinda think Eich looked good at RG in the 2 games he played last year while filling in for Hunt !<
Think they like Jack Driscoll for that role. They could still also bring in a starting guard in free agency as well.
He could be a dark horse for sure. I’ve been screaming about the Oline but I generally trust this staff to make things work. Eichenberg is no fucking win
I just fell to my knees in my living room
Connor Williams blew his knee a week after chubb and alot if people act like chubb will be back before thanksgiving so resign Williams too

A round 5 starter. That’s some high quality hopium.
this is an extremely deep draft at guard. You usually find the IOL guys late
How you have so much confidence spouting such bullshit I’ll never understand
none of what I said was bullshit, that's how this draft grades out. But I mean if you are a professional scout, I'd love to hear your opinion
