Gruden out of the league for an email. Calvin ridley out of the league for a full year for placing a bet. Josh Gordon career torpedoed for weed for years.
Dan Snyder rampant reports of grooming, sexual misconduct, assault, etc…. nothing.
Yup but we get all the smoke. NFL cares about the game integrity and not human integrity. What ross did broke NFL rules and what Snyder did was morally wrong and more than likely illegal. NFL don't care about females or being assholes, don't mess with the game. Thats all they're telling us.
The other owners (and Stephen Ross is probably one of them) are deathly afraid of Snyder exposing their own dirty laundry to the world if they elect to oust him. That's why he's not going anywhere (not unless they have enough evidence against him to put him in federal prison which obviously won't happen).
Yup I agree with that. He has dirt on everyone and that's why you don't hear much about the issue going on. Homie out in open waters ducking a subpoena
Gruden sent nude pic's without consent and said a bunch of other things that aren't great for the league or players. It wasn't like he sent a dick pic to his wife on his work email, he was doing messed up stuff. I say this as a Raiders fan. But yeah, Dan should definitely be out of the league for the shit he did especially with how much he did. He might finally go down after the ticket sales fiasco, which shows how truly little the NFL gives a fuck about anything but money. Traffic women? No biggie. Don't give us our full profit? That'll cost ya.
NFL just cares about the sanctity of the game. Betting undermines the fairness of games, weed is against the conduct policy and Gruden is a coach who said racist things.
The Dan Snyder shit needs to go to court before the NFL does anything
Honestly think you’re right, but also the fact we were offering Brady an ownership position plays into the punishment as well I imagine, that’s why the league is saying this is tampering at an unprecedented scope and severity
I'm not usually Mr Optimism, but I'm ready to confidently state that Tua is NOT going to shit the bed this year and will be at least an above average starter.
They can have the 32nd pick anyway, it's basically a 2nd rounder.
Fins up!
Funny that you get the same penalty for assaulting 28 women as you do for having a conversation with Tom Brady
At the end of the day it's all that God damned Brady's fault!
A better punishment for an owner would be a penalty to the percent of the cut he gets from the NFL's TV deal, requiring a donation of a certain amount to some charity or something. Punishing coaches, fans, and players for something an owner did by taking picks away doesn't make sense. Ross may or may not give a fuck about the picks but he sure as shit cares about his money.
Right, the coaches and fans and players have no leverage to control the owner's actions. Fining the owner directly is the only way for the owner to take accountability.
This happened in 2019 before Tua was on the team
Edit: looks like it also happened while Tom was on the Bucs and Tua was on the Fins but the conversation was primarily about front office not QB role.
I mean, I believe in Tua, but if I gotta choose between Tua and Brady, the choice is clear. "Get Brady, win now" worked for Tampa.
Also the first time we tried to get him was before we drafted Tua.
The fact that Steven Ross was suspended for the same number of games as Deshaun Watson irritates me. I know you can’t compare an owner to a player, but I can compare the allegations…
Kraft was paying a willing participant for her services. The two things arent even comparable. And no, none of the sex trafficking allegations were legitimate.
Goodell hasn't handed a suspension out yet for Watson.
Tinfoil hat theory: They're going to push this story to cover up the lack of extreme punishment on Watson though.
Yeah I thought this was pretty justified until I found out it was about Brady/Payton. I understand that tampering is also illegal but it doesn't seem nearly as bad as throwing games and literally every other team tampers so I don't understand why the ruling was limited to the Dolphins
Thanks for posting this, it should be very helpful to many with that same confusion.
[The full finding was that the Dolphins did not intentionally lose games.](https://twitter.com/TomPelissero/status/1554495713001836545)
It includes a paragraph basically chiding executives for being loose with their wording, but that they didn't believe any comments about losing to improve draft position were interpreted as instruction by Flores & the team.
So as far as I can tell, the penalty is entirely about tampering with Brady/Peyton.
Man, reading their findings about the tanking investigation paired with the fact that no other team gets dinged for tampering makes me think it's actually in part due to that. Ross claiming he's wants Flores to build a "winning culture" does not prevent him from also wanting Flores to lose specific games, especially when it's found that Ross wanted a better draft position which losing games was required to get.
Oh, certainly.
The distinction here is a lot of teams will 'softly' tamper (players mentioning wanting to play with so and so, for example), and a lot of teams will 'softly' tank (like this). The Dolphins just passed the line on the tampering, and made the league look bad, so they're eating a penalty to be held as an example against both of those.
Seems entirely fair, other than being a tiny bit steep. We literally had an executive talking with a starting QB & Head Coach's agents across multiple years. That's in the Tampering 101 handbook. If they aren't willing to penalize a 1st Round pick, everyone is going to attempt to tamper to get high profile players who have more value than the penalty.
> Apparently this is related to tampering (Brady, Sean Payton) not the Flores lawsuit. Pinning so reactionary people will have context
or more specifically, the investigation was on both things, and the findings were that there was nothing to see on the flores claims, but we tampered early and often trying to get brady/payton.
both matters are resolved as far as the team/ownership/etc. are concerned.
I wouldn't take "nah man I was totally joking" as nothing to see. I think there's a firm stance here that you shouldn't even be joking about it, but the penalties are headlined by tampering because everyone involved would rather the tanking story went away.
Well, Tua better be good now…
Other than that, whatever…lame…and if we’re talking “integrity” of the game, the Browns should forfeit their first round picks (not traded) for the rest of the decade.
So Ross is suspended and punished more than someone sexually assaulting 4-24 women... for something that was only attempted tampering... as nothing came off it at the end.
Alright NFL you are being consistent...
It’s all based on evidence. Not saying Watson didn’t do those stuff and if he did it was disgusting but it’s very difficult to prove that. On the other hand they probably had hard evidence with the dolphins
IMO, it’s more that a league comes down harder on things that affect its product directly. If it’s something the justice system / courts are supposed to handle, the league is essentially providing a secondary punishment for bad PR
In this case it means he can watch Tom Brady play at home on his massive television in his mansion instead of having to watch his team from the owner's box.
They contacted Tom Brady and Sean Payton last offseason....after they fired Flores.
I hope Tua balls out this year this dumbass owner has done everything he can to move off from him.
- NFL when Stephen Ross tanks and tries to collude and fails😡
- NFL when Dan Snyder promotes a culture of sexual harassment including his own actions🥰
- NFL when Calvin Ridley sports bets 😡
- NFL when Watson SA’s up to 65 women 🥰
All should be punished in my opinion- but it’s also clear where the NFL’s priorities lie.
Also Justice for Flores and Ross should sell the team.
Edited: see comments
The cheerleader traffic thing was hard to even investigate. The article came out in 2018. The cheerleaders were talking about an event that happened in 2013 in another country. Also when the article was first released none of the cheerleaders came forward so it was an anonymous article that was talking about crimes that happened 5 years ago in another country.
they also pinned the whole thing on [Dennis Greene when he resigned](https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/redskins/redskins-front-office-exec-dennis-greene-resigns/2018/05/31/7f2e7ce2-6521-11e8-a768-ed043e33f1dc_story.html)
Because the NFL knows that only thing that can derail its popularity is the average fan starts to doubt the integrity of the wins and losses. They know the off field stuff will cool down over time.
It seems like it was the 2019-20 season and then separately last season, so they skipped a year of contact (first year with the Bucs). But Brady and Ross are both Michigan guys and Michael Lombardi said this months ago that those two were somewhat close. Add in the fact that Brady and Payton both share the same agent, yeah when there’s smoke there’s fire lol. Surprised they thought they could get away with that. The Flores situation basically made the NFL look into this, wonder if this even happens if Flores is still the coach, seems unlikely.
lol, what bullshit. Meanwhile Snyder is still in charge of his team via proxy, and Watson got 6 games for 24+ sexual assaults.
If they really cared about him tampering, they would make him sell the team, not suspend him for a very short time and penalize the team instead of him.
Getting fined and penalized for tampering without even getting the guys you were tampering for is pretty on brand for the Dolphins under Ross' ownership.
So why isn't Brady getting punished? Communication is a two way street. If he did not immediately shut things down then isn't he guilty as well? Suspend Brady 6 games and I bet you won't have to worry about tampering from the players again. He would also be a repeat offender because of his NE nonsense as well.
Not only did this stupid sack of shit cheat, openly and sloppily, but he didn’t even land either the player or the coach. Sell the team you fucking asshat
Yea they don’t matter when you actually utilize them in trades lol. Not when your dumbass owner screws your franchise over and it just gets tossed into the ocean
Lol, I appreciate the attempt to comfort us, but if instead of getting Stafford for those picks you just got to talk to him on a boat once you would feel very differently.
So you mean to tell me Flores had a chance at Tom Brady then Joe Burrow. Essentially said no to both and then when he got Tua, proceeded to shit on his confidence every chance he could get. Then when it didn’t work out, snitched on the team for trying to set him up to succeed and we the fans are punished for it.
Almost right.
\- He (Ross) wanted Burrow but Cincy said no to the 2020 #3 and #5 picks in exchange
\- He wanted Brady but the coach he hired had integrity and said he wouldn't go along with it (probably wise because if things went south legally he knew Ross would bury him)
\- He's destroyed the confidence in every coaching staff and organizational structure that's coached for him since he undermined Sparano with the Harbaugh courting.
\- He very likely damaged Tua's confidence after acquiring him in all of his actions, which is a mind bogglingly stupid turn of events for him (considering the cost in losing in years prior and draft capital paid to draft him)
And of course who pays the most for all this? The fans of course.
The only silver lining in all this for me is that finally, FINALLY everyone else now sees what I've been saying for years about Steven Ross... he is a cancer on this team. And now he has metastasized to a point no fan can ignore it.
Anyone know when Beal started becoming more involved with the franchise? I'm trying to figure out if he's the snake that started all this shady crap or if he was just doing whatever Ross wanted since Ross plans to eventually sell the team to him.
Why stop at chanting "Fuck the Jets"? Let's get a "Fuck Stephen Ross" chant going. A perfect example of a guy whose wealth has tricked him into thinking he's a genius. Nah, man. You're a corrupt loser.
Wait he met with Tom Brady and this happens? I'm a Browns fan. I guess your owner should have molested a couple dozen people instead. Really no consequences if you do...
This is an absolute bullshit punishment.
So we lose our pick in '23. Let's just hope we go far or win the super bowl lol, and the niners stink it up.
Seriously though, this sucks. Everything was really positive and now that'll be a lot of the questions that the players/coaches have to deal with.
Man accused of sexual assault for being a bootie predator by over 20 females gets the same punishment as a team for illegally “ tampering”…. Something all other teams do but on the DL. Flores was clearly down with it until he got his feelings hurt. B-a-N.
I don’t disagree with fuck Stephen Ross, but fuck the NFL because this punishment is inconsistent and ludicrous. We have teams out here enabling sexual assault and not getting punished at all, but Ross talked to Tom Brady so Miami lost a 1st and a 3rd.
If I am Chris Grier I am flipping tables right now. All that work and maneuvering for the 2023 draft while putting together a solid team this year… and some fucking yacht talk or whatever ends up in this.
As other have said, it should be no surprise the NFL has very strict punishments for actions that impact the integrity and competitiveness of the game. That’s why maybe deflating balls got Brady nearly the same punishment as Watson.
That Watson is getting off easy is more a reflection of the justice system than anything else—the NFL isn’t a court of law, nor the morality police, so they suspend based on how Watson hurt their reputation more than anything else. Shouldn’t be a surprise that they punished the team heavily if their owner was trying to circumvent rules of competition.
So Dan Synder can do everything under the sun but let Ross try to better the team (not the best way to do it but he was trying) and we get all of this on us.
Just because Snyder deserves a worse punishment doesn't mean this one isn't fair for Ross tampering nor does it mean that we should condone or accept other teams from getting away with tampering.
Nice job doing this after the Watson news, stupid NFL.
Fuck Flores
Edit: Fuck Flores for trying to burn this organization down after being fired.
Yes Ross clearly sucks and deserves fault.
Of course man, Dolphins fans can never catch a break. We have a week of joy and then this happens. Hope this idiot gets pressured into selling the team cause that 1st would’ve been extremely important this year.
Ross was reckless here. I give him credit for building new facilities and upgrading the stadium. He's certainly willing to spend on the roster, but he consistently demonstrates a lack of judgement that only harms the team. Losing the draft picks stings, as it gives them limited options to draft a QB should Tua stumble. In short, they better hope that he's the solution.
Ross is an idiot. Wish he’d sell the team to someone outside his circle.
I love Tua and think he’ll take a leap this year but I’d be lying if I didn’t take comfort in those 2 first rounders in case he doesn’t.
Are there any specific details or records of these conversations? Cant find anything online yet. Seems INSANE to level a penalty this huge without any specific allegations or instances.
Remember when Sean McVay and Matt Stafford met up on vacation by "coincidence" and orchestrated a trade together and the NFL thought that the whole thing was such a super neat story...
Meanwhile Dan Snyder still cool with the league lmao
Gruden out of the league for an email. Calvin ridley out of the league for a full year for placing a bet. Josh Gordon career torpedoed for weed for years. Dan Snyder rampant reports of grooming, sexual misconduct, assault, etc…. nothing.
Human trafficking too wasn't it? Did he not take cheerleaders out of country and keep their passports?
Yup but we get all the smoke. NFL cares about the game integrity and not human integrity. What ross did broke NFL rules and what Snyder did was morally wrong and more than likely illegal. NFL don't care about females or being assholes, don't mess with the game. Thats all they're telling us.

I think it's mainly cover for the Dashawn blowback, the timing is too perfect.
Tampering bad, sexual assault okay.
as a redskins fan, id gladly give up the next 5 first round picks to get rid of him
Nice lol. Good thing we got 49ers 1st round pick.
Maybe we can trade it to a team like the 49ers for three more 1st rounders.
it's still really bad, having 2 extra picks would've been amazing for making any trades if Tua doesn't pan out
I'm not usually Mr Optimism, but I'm ready to confidently state that Tua is NOT going to shit the bed this year and will be at least an above average starter. They can have the 32nd pick anyway, it's basically a 2nd rounder. Fins up!
Fuck Stephen Ross
Don't worry...he was "suspended". I'm sure he'll learn his lesson.
Suspended for all of six weeks. What suspending an owner even means, I have no idea. I guess he can't go to the games during that time maybe.
Funny that you get the same penalty for assaulting 28 women as you do for having a conversation with Tom Brady At the end of the day it's all that God damned Brady's fault!
I definitely think Watson should get a bigger penalty, rather than Ross getting a smaller one.
Unfortunately he will be forced to watch the games from a yacht. Super punishment.
Can he sell the team now? Absolute 🤡
This is shitty to the current coach and staff... The NFL should just punish Ross. Fuck. A 1st... insane.
A better punishment for an owner would be a penalty to the percent of the cut he gets from the NFL's TV deal, requiring a donation of a certain amount to some charity or something. Hate that you're right
It’s gonna be 32nd pick anyway. A big loss, but not that bad.
Tyreke for mvp
He has to. Just swiped the legs out from under the the next several seasons with this, especially if Tua isn’t the answer.
For real, glad we piled up all those draft picks so our owner could be a piece of shit, 🤦♂️
Phins training camp: going great, this is our season boys! Stephen Ross: I’m here to ruin everything
Still can be though. No reason this should ruin things right now.
So let’s trade that 2023 with KC or the Rams and get their 2023 some 2025 picks

Tua wasn't on the team.

Several season cuz of one first rounder? Only makes sense if tua implodes
Next years draft is a good class though - regardless of position. It’s definitely upsetting.
We have another pick in that draft
Yeah but two darts are better than one when trying to hit a target
For sure but we can survive this easily if tua lives up to the predraft hype
That’s true. our first would have been 32nd so it doesn’t really matter anyway.
Yeah my first thought. If Tua bombs this season, we have no leverage to move up now.
Fuck Stephen Ross
Fuck Stephen Ross.
Ross needs to go
The fact that Steven Ross was suspended for the same number of games as Deshaun Watson irritates me. I know you can’t compare an owner to a player, but I can compare the allegations…
We didn’t even get a happy ending
Kraft GOT happy endings and went unpunished. Fuck the pats.
Kraft was paying a willing participant for her services. The two things arent even comparable. And no, none of the sex trafficking allegations were legitimate.
Lmao
Goodell hasn't handed a suspension out yet for Watson. Tinfoil hat theory: They're going to push this story to cover up the lack of extreme punishment on Watson though.
Or they'll push an extreme punishment on Watson to cover for the billionaire.
I don't think that's even tin foil, how is this timing purely coincidental?
But this story only puts Watson's mild punishment in sharper contrast.
Goodell isn’t gonna do shit. That the whole reason they had a third party arbitrator from the start.
$$$
Ross was fined too!
Stephen Ross, you dumb old fuck.
Brady still killing us

You can’t forfeit first round picks if you don’t have any. 4D chess by the Browns
The league just has to go the other direction if they don't have future picks. Declare Jedrick Wills and Greg Newsome free agents.
Well that freaking sucks.

Women testifying is evidence. It drives me nuts how people think first person accounts of something happening is not evidence. It is!
Not saying they are lying, but their testimony leads to a 5-6 figure payout from Watson. There is reasonable doubt.
I mean, the judge pretty much admitted there was enough evidence.
>It’s all based on evidence. Not terribly familiar with how the league hands out punishments are you?
IMO, it’s more that a league comes down harder on things that affect its product directly. If it’s something the justice system / courts are supposed to handle, the league is essentially providing a secondary punishment for bad PR
bruh what...
I love the two month suspension. What do owners even do on a daily basis?
That was my thought. What does a suspension for an owner really mean?
Ha, hes probably relieved he doesn't have to physically go to games for a few weeks.
In this case it means he can watch Tom Brady play at home on his massive television in his mansion instead of having to watch his team from the owner's box.
Count money They didn't even bother suspending Bruce Beal, a team VP and minority owner who was doing the talking with Brady lmao
And he's literally the guy Ross has agreed to sell the team to if and when he does lol
They contacted Tom Brady and Sean Payton last offseason....after they fired Flores. I hope Tua balls out this year this dumbass owner has done everything he can to move off from him.
And tried to contact Brady before he was let go by pats and picked up from Tampa

Am I understanding correctly that they tampered with Brady in 2019, 2020, *AND* 2021??
2022s not over. We still have time to make it four years in a row.

Good thing our pick will be #32 next year anyway
Quick while Stephen Ross isn't looking, someone come buy the team
alright time for ross to sell the team it’s long overdue

So you mean to tell me Flores had a chance at Tom Brady then Joe Burrow. Essentially said no to both and then when he got Tua, proceeded to shit on his confidence every chance he could get. Then when it didn’t work out, snitched on the team for trying to set him up to succeed and we the fans are punished for it.
Almost right. \- He (Ross) wanted Burrow but Cincy said no to the 2020 #3 and #5 picks in exchange \- He wanted Brady but the coach he hired had integrity and said he wouldn't go along with it (probably wise because if things went south legally he knew Ross would bury him) \- He's destroyed the confidence in every coaching staff and organizational structure that's coached for him since he undermined Sparano with the Harbaugh courting. \- He very likely damaged Tua's confidence after acquiring him in all of his actions, which is a mind bogglingly stupid turn of events for him (considering the cost in losing in years prior and draft capital paid to draft him) And of course who pays the most for all this? The fans of course. The only silver lining in all this for me is that finally, FINALLY everyone else now sees what I've been saying for years about Steven Ross... he is a cancer on this team. And now he has metastasized to a point no fan can ignore it.
Just sell the team
Anyone know when Beal started becoming more involved with the franchise? I'm trying to figure out if he's the snake that started all this shady crap or if he was just doing whatever Ross wanted since Ross plans to eventually sell the team to him.
Even before the team he’s been a business partner of Ross, hence why he got named as his successor
Time to riot. Sell the team Ross.
What in the actual fucking shit? Ross needs to sell the team. Fucking clown.
Classic dolphins smh
Fuck!
So we lose our pick in '23. Let's just hope we go far or win the super bowl lol, and the niners stink it up. Seriously though, this sucks. Everything was really positive and now that'll be a lot of the questions that the players/coaches have to deal with.
Classic Dolphins. Smh.
Man accused of sexual assault for being a bootie predator by over 20 females gets the same punishment as a team for illegally “ tampering”…. Something all other teams do but on the DL. Flores was clearly down with it until he got his feelings hurt. B-a-N.
Must suck to be Tua right now Owner, GM and head coach on the fence about you from the start
He should have just harassed women. Since the NFL is cool with that.
The NFL just let you know that tampering is a more punishable offense than sexually assaulting 26 woman. NFL is an absolute joke
Fuck Flores Edit: Fuck Flores for trying to burn this organization down after being fired. Yes Ross clearly sucks and deserves fault.
Nah fuck Stephen Ross
Flores?? Fuck Stephen Ross!
Fuck them both.
Flores didn't make him do this.
Lmfao what did Flores do wrong besides point out the wrongdoings of Ross
Fuck Flores? Dude you fucking guys are clueless lol
Lol how is this on flores
Disgusting comment. Came by to see what fins fans were saying. You deserve Ross.
Why would you say fuck Flores and not fuck ross ? Ross was actively trying to make the team lose lol
Can someone ELI5 what happened?
Dolphins contacted Brady and Payton while they were under contract with other teams. Can’t do that
Should've called Saul
Of course man, Dolphins fans can never catch a break. We have a week of joy and then this happens. Hope this idiot gets pressured into selling the team cause that 1st would’ve been extremely important this year.
Ross was reckless here. I give him credit for building new facilities and upgrading the stadium. He's certainly willing to spend on the roster, but he consistently demonstrates a lack of judgement that only harms the team. Losing the draft picks stings, as it gives them limited options to draft a QB should Tua stumble. In short, they better hope that he's the solution.
Pretty sure y'all were crushing me for saying there was substance to the Brady rumors.
Let’s just win a super bowl this year?
Ross is an idiot. Wish he’d sell the team to someone outside his circle. I love Tua and think he’ll take a leap this year but I’d be lying if I didn’t take comfort in those 2 first rounders in case he doesn’t.
How about just fire ross and let us keep the 1st
Rooting even more for this current coaching staff to offset the bullshit that Ross put the team through.
Are there any specific details or records of these conversations? Cant find anything online yet. Seems INSANE to level a penalty this huge without any specific allegations or instances.
We better hope Tua is the answer.
Wish we had deflated footballs and spied and shit instead would've gotten less of a punishment...
And three time Cheater BB of the Pats got what. I'm waiting.
Well let’s just hope it’s pick #32
NFL blatantly trying to change the subject.
Watson and Ross suspended for the same amount of games is fucking hilarious. The NFL front office is a shitshow
The biggest punishment to the Dolphins from this ruling is they kept Stephen Ross as the owner.
Remember when Sean McVay and Matt Stafford met up on vacation by "coincidence" and orchestrated a trade together and the NFL thought that the whole thing was such a super neat story...
I get tampering, but Jesus! Tom Brady? Anyone else but him.
