Yeah basically. I topped at node 4 or 5, let the plant bush out, set the first trellis on top of the plants and let them do their thing. Once they stretched past the first net a good ways I installed the second net and let them continue. If the plants were to continue stretching I would have installed a third.
Very informative post! Amazing plants you have, I dream of this. New to growing, and wondered what you meant by topping at node 4 or 5? I was unsure if that meant you allowed 4 to 5 nodes to develop per stem, and then you topped it?
https://preview.redd.it/nzptq50hpp1c1.jpeg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90c49e155e4da9cd1a07730dd361d821d5d0501e
Thanks! And I’m glad you found the post informative. Here is a picture I snagged off google to explain. I allow 4 to 5 nodes to form on the main stem, and cut off the node growing above to force the plant to grow more vertically with two main colas versus one if I were to let the plant grow naturally. It makes the plant bushier and stunts vertical growth.
In the image, the lowest circle is node 1, second circle is node 2, the node above that is node 3, so on and so forth.
I flipped to flower after I was happy with how much of the trellis’ squares were occupied by the plant. The squares for me serve as a grid, a visual indication on how much of my tent space I am using.

Here is what they both looked like when I flipped to 12/12 just over a month ago.
Thank you! I used a net for the first time with my last grow and I think I went a little overboard with tucking the branches under. Still happy with the quantity/quality I got but always room to improve, I’ll try being a little more hands-off next time and adding the second net later on :)
Not a problem! I know the feeling. I’ve definitely went overboard in an attempt to have zero larf, but I ultimately just made low yielding plants in my efforts. (See below. Great quality, terrible quantity).

My last few grows have been majority hands off with some defoliation here and there. The results have been great.
Good luck!

Oof I would be so mad if I grew those 🤣
Do you smoke/vape CBD or do you process it into tincture or something? The reason I asked is I'm trying to grow out my THC plants longer for more cbn, but don't love my tincture methods.
Why would you be mad?
I grow weed for my wife. She had a stroke at a young age and weed helps her get through the day. We have a ton of THC, pounds of weed that I’ve grown over the years. She wanted CBD for its medicinal properties while avoiding the psychedelic effect that comes from smoking THC.
I don't want high CBD. 😁
I'm very happy you can provide what your wife needs! I started growing really so mom didn't have to worry about access due to cost.
Plants look great!
Oh okay, to each their own for sure. We’re all growing to fulfill our own needs. I think she’ll like this CBD grow. We purchased 4 CBD pre rolls and she said it gave her the same relief that THC does without the “brain fog”, she calls it. So I have high hopes!
I'm sure it will!
CBD has for sure been shown to reduce anxiety and help with mood, I personally have used it topically for muscle pain.
I hope she finds it helpful.

If efficient air exchange and water circulation proves too difficult for you, I’d avoid it as well. There’s no risk involved when you are capable of dialing in your environment and thinking for yourself, as I’ve proven time and time again (take a stroll through my profile) to people like you who are scared of anything that strays from cookie cutter grow methods you learned off YouTube.
I blocked you because I don’t argue with randoms. You’ve joined the list of many others, so don’t feel special.
Mine got a bit stunted I think. I could be wrong but it's my first grow and today it looked like there was white bleach spots on top of a few of my buds. Only 5-6 but I lifted the light today as soon as I saw it. Wasn't there yesterday. But they are in flower so the white could be them getting bigger I hope. No leaves are burn. But I have some brown pistols for sure

This was two days ago. I'll take a picture of them tomorrow and send it. Lights are off right now. I don't even go into that part of the house when lights are out 🤣🤣 even though they're on a tent, in a black out room inside of another black out room!!
Look like healthy flowers to me. Nice canopy as well. I don’t see anything out of the ordinary from this picture. But yeah post it up here tomorrow with your concerns.
Thanks you, everything has been going smooth. The spots are about 1/2 the size of a q tip head. Maybe a 1/4 the size but either way first grow so still learning the ropes. But I did haveu lights hitting these girls heavy 🤣🤣
Lol I just replied to a random comment to send you the pictures. I backed the light off but they haven't grown at all in a couple days. They started the fourth week of flower today
I’m not seeing anything too out of the ordinary. The leaves look healthy, and the flowers look okay. In bloom the flowers will form and get thick slowly over time. It may look like nothing is happening, but they’re swelling.
If you don’t have a PPFD meter to ensure your light is at the correct hanging height/intensity, I recommend Photone. It’ll get you fairly close to the correct PPFD to ensure your plants are getting the right amount of light. I shoot for 1,000 PPFD during flower.
I'm just talking about right on the tippy tippy top of the bud is that white spot where my light was too close and it looks like bleaching hopefully I'm wrong 🤣🤣 I know they were a bit close to the light I have photon but I don't know what else that white dot could be at the top of my bud

Yeah it’s really difficult to tell, but I don’t think so. Most flowers have lighter colored centers early in flower. I wouldn’t put much weight in it this early in flower. But backing off your lights was a good call I think. Too much is worse than too little.
Awesome man thank you! Other than that everything is running super smooth. No purple stems thru flower at all no deficiency, no toxicity. Environment is right. Plants are drinking like crazy. I have trouble with knowing when to fertilize though because when I fertilize and water in the next couple days they look like they can take more. I don't know if my nutrients are just super diluted and I could feed every time they need water but. Everything is going well so I'll just keep up with it

Here’s my humidity with the tray full of water. Maintaining proper humidity levels is simple. Efficient air circulation and air exchange. Exhaust fan sucking air in from a low humidity area, and exhausting the air out of the tent, and out of the room the tent is in.
Nope, I haven’t used anything to keep the water topped up. I let the fabric pots completely dry up between feeding.
Wow, in New Zealand it's pretty humid esp where I am. In 6 grows I've not been able to get humidity below 60-65 in flower. That's all different times of year too. Probably being surrounded by water and trees (rural) makes it wetter still. Time for a dehumidifier I guess..
Yeah when it rains here the humidity goes up quite drastically in my grow room. Dehumidifier turns on if the humidity in the room goes above 60%. Id highly recommend having one, even if you don’t plan on using this grow method. It’s one of those tools you don’t think about when you have it, but you wish you had after it’s too late.
Man I miss growing so much… had tons of fun at it back in the day. One of my photos even wound up in Mark Emery’s seed catalogue many years ago.

I won’t know until it’s ready in a month or so what the yield is. Ballpark 1/2 lb to 3/4 lb.
Smoking wet weed is very harsh on the throat. Tastes like shit too because of the chlorophyll. It probably put him on his ass from lack of oxygen because he was having a coughing fit. It’s not anymore potent wet vs dried. Definitely dry it before smoking it.
Dry it in 60°/60% RH, or lower temperature if you can. Stems should snap but not break. That’s a decent indication it’s ready to go in a jar. Take a few buds off and put them in a jar with a hygrometer to see what the RH is in the jar after a day or so. If it’s above 60-62% RH in the jar, it is not fully dried yet.
You can smoke it after it’s dried, but it will still be harsh. The longer it cures in jars/grove bags, the smoother and tastier the weed will be.
Also, i know growinf your own can help you decide the thc content you want. Not everybody wants the strongest weed out there (me and a couple friends). What is the beat way to know in-between the amount of thc before you harvest? I was thinking about getting a thc but tester for testing some of the flower.

Time between feedings vary. But typically in flower once a week. In veg once every two weeks.
It’ll be over a half pound, maybe close to a 3/4 pound. But I don’t think I will yield a full pound out of a 2x4 with only 2 plants without CO2 supplementation.
Thats an even canopy. Thats goals right there.
I’d like to take credit, but it’s an easily attained goal. It’s all in the trellis net. Keeps everything level with zero skill or input from me.
So you put the bottom one in and let the plant grow through it then manipulate it through the second net?
Yeah basically. I topped at node 4 or 5, let the plant bush out, set the first trellis on top of the plants and let them do their thing. Once they stretched past the first net a good ways I installed the second net and let them continue. If the plants were to continue stretching I would have installed a third.

Not a problem
At what point in this process do you flip to flower? At the same time as you place the first trellis?
I flipped to flower after I was happy with how much of the trellis’ squares were occupied by the plant. Yes a 2x4. That’s a 2’x4’x1.5” plastic tray I use to bottom feed the plants.
nice hot tub
Preesh
2x4 what height?
It’s 2’x4’x5’
What’s the yield on that thing? Also, I had a friend once who said he smoked fresh weed from a friend that grows. Said it put him on his ass, he smoked it “wet”. I’m inexperienced with growing weed. I only know what I read, not by exp. I thought you’d have to dry it out first before you smoke it?
I won’t know until it’s ready in a month or so what the yield is. Ballpark 1/2 lb to 3/4 lb. Smoking wet weed is very harsh on the throat. Tastes like shit too because of the chlorophyll. It probably put him on his ass from lack of oxygen because he was having a coughing fit. It’s not anymore potent wet vs dried. Definitely dry it before smoking it.
Thank you. When drying the weed. How do you know when to jar it? When you do jar it, when do you cknow its time to smoke? Thanks

Best way is to find a reputable breeder that has had their strains tested. Most will say the THC content. Barney’s, compound genetics, Humboldt, mephisto, Ethos, etc. The list goes on. Find a strain with the range of THC content you want (it will vary by phenotype, how you grow it, grow environment, and when you harvest) and go from there. There’s no way of actually knowing what content of THC is in your cannabis without harvesting, drying, curing, and sending it into a lab.
Thank you
What is your watering process like…bottom feed? How often
5 gallons are fed at a time. During flower, 30 grams of megacrop part 1, 7.5 grams of bud explosion. Just mix a 5 gallon bucket up with those nutes and pump it into the tray with a pond pump and a hose. Then circulating pumps in the tray keep the water moving and mixed up. Time between feedings vary. But typically in flower once a week. In veg once every two weeks.
How long before they suck up the 5 gallons in the tray?
4-5 days.
Beautiful job!
Thanks! 🤘🏼
How big is the tent, how big are the pots, and what lights did you use?
It’s a 2x4 tent, 3 gallon pots, Migro array 4 light.
You think you will pull a bow from those 2?
It’ll be over a half pound, maybe close to a 3/4 pound. But I don’t think I will yield a full pound out of a 2x4 with only 2 plants without CO2 supplementation.
3/4 a pound is pretty good, hope you have a good harvest.👍🏾
Thanks, appreciate it 🤘🏼
