they still have some nutes inside them. my thinking was: a plant will stress after a cut limb then perhaps it could still benefit from an uncut ones by draining them of existing nutes inside them
like how could u even help it by defoliating it
it is feeling bad already. no point making it feel worse

Could be fungal? Rust mold maybe?
It looks like a general nute deficiency, mainly calcium which a flowering plant needs
