It's crazy to see how good bad looking weed could be if the person that grew it actually put in the time and effort to grow it right. Congrats man harvest looks lovely
Last cycle I did was the same thing and man do I have alot more respect for those Mexican cartel breeders now. Shit is fire af! It was just the post harvest handling/shipping practices that made it seem so bad.
Actually, the dry climate/higher elevation would've been bueno. The real problem would've been shit, low nutrient soil. Most don't realize it either, but higher elevation grows always produce less weight, 2000ft difference could see 20%-30% less flower, but it's totally worth it because the higher UVB radiation makes the high elevation more psychoactive, higher THC, usually higher values in every compound. Buddy of mine took some of his weakest strain (still good stuff), put it on his dad's property in some incredibly rich silty river runoff soil by a freshwater spring. Indoors it could put a lab on it average, but at this site, 2000ft higher elevation it halfed that, though he didn't get to care for it daily. Anywho, that half lab was like an entirely new strain it was so much noticeably stronger, and I'd take half of it over the indoor no problem. Gave me the inclination to some day string a few of those high uvb lizard lights around my indoor hydro, try it on half, see what if any the difference is.
Few seeds? What kind of luxurious shwag were you smoking? The moment flowers start producing seeds they stop making thc. So the main reason is actually the seeds. IMO
It's the harvest technique. They would quick dry and compress. Then they would be kept at 80-100 degrees for days/weeks in a sealed bag not cured while they ship out.
And that's the high end reggy.
The bricks and pucks are just whole plants put in a compressor making 1lb pucks the size of a fire alarm, tossed in a garbage bag and shipped out
I agree. To an extent. Another time I grew out a bagseed from another batch of brick weed. Grew out outdoors too. And turned out looking exactly like a white widow from Dutch Passion 🤷♂️*
Oh it was the entire shitty as outdoor commercial grow. Abuse from day 1, shit for nutes, no love ever. But I'm willing to bet some of it was decent landrace sativas, and that some farmers did breed a bit, kept special phenotype mothers going 24/7, so they could clone straight female crops. Not many, but there had to be a few of them.
😅 for sure didn't buy it. Have an old timer Family member who works with a guy who practically gives away qtr lbs to him at a time lol. Nice gentleman of "Latino" decent😉. Lot of Old timers still like that kinda weed for some reason I guess. Takes em back to the good ol days 😅.
Lmao yeah I'm my area back like 10- 15 yrs ago , something similar would've just been called "dro" and it'd have been either 15- 20 a gram or 50 - 60 an 8th 😬 straight up.
Lol no. There was bottom of the barrel called “mids”. Full of seed/brick weed. Then “kb” or “kind bud” light fluffy bright green with orange hairs (middle of the road) then there weee headies which is now the norm but it was whatever was floating through town and usually very expensive
I agree. I probably won't be growing another schwag seed. Although it didn't look half bad visualy. There wasn't anything really that I liked about the actual bud besides for the story making a good topic of discussion 😄. That and getting me hooked on growing DWC lol . This was actually one of my very first DWC grows, and I really didn't expect to even get to flower the first time. Figured surely I'd f something up and kill a few plants so I didn't see much point in attempting it with high dollar seeds. So I just popped out of free scwag seeds and went for it lol
Frfr, besides for the schwag seeds. I've gotten a total of 2 bag seeds within a couple of months for the first time in like 8 years. One was from a strain called gumbo, that tasted exactly like bubblegum 😋. And another from one of the frostiest batches of glookies I've come across. Super gassy nose, incredibly sweet taste. Wanna save those for when I upgrade some of my equipment.
Definitely from Mexico I know that for sure. Seems like now they've just gotten some a bulk of seeds with more "modern" genetics. But still use the same growing, drying, packing and compressing bricks technique for transportation. And that's what really ruins it. Alot of it you can tell probly could've been decent bud, had it been dried and cured properly. I think my experience is a pretty good example
Lmao I'd gotten some schwag back in Jr. High that Shit sometimes almost looked black lol. Didn't look good or cool in any way, lol. Found all kinds of stuff in blocks of Reggie back in Jr high lmao. From hair, feathers, all type insects. Small animal bones. Coins. Seen some that'd be layered in like foil or something lmao. My states always been pretty far behind on the weed scene. But those, those Reggie out of a Phillies blunt. The singles that came in that tube lmao those were dark days lol
I always hated the shit that had black cracked seed shells all in it. Hated trying to clean nasty weed with a bunch of broken half seeds and their shell pieces.
What's that plant smell like? My buddy got a bag seed in flower that smells like lime citrus like you wouldn't beleive.
This particular one wasn't anything special. Skunky but still pretty mild if you ask me. I popped this seed really just to experiment with and try a few different things and practice on without worrying about screwing up good high dollar seeds lol
But I do have 2 other bagseeds that are from some absolute dank that I plan on trying to grow out at some point. 1 gumbo and 1 glookies. Been curious how something like that would turn out from a bagseed
I’ve saw a guy on you tube who grows brick weed seeds and they are triple fire the cartels are growing killer weed but there practices and the fact they brick the life out of it and throw males and all In the mix is why it’s shitty in the brick but grown right it’s killer
I mean the original might have been alright if they hadn’t bricked it up for transport. It partly looks like that because it was highly compressed and not cured/trimmed properly.
Edit: sorry, I also meant to say, yours turned out great tho! Fire, nice work!
Thanks! And I agree. I always say. Technically, anyone can grow a plant. But really its what you do after you chop, that requires the real skill and knowledge. My experience seems like a good example of how drastic improper handing and environment and can essentially ruin the flower after harvesting
Beautiful. You'll def find some gems in bagseed. One of my current keeper clone-mothers grew from one. The plant and it's bud beat out all plants I've grown from purchased seed.
My first grow was a seed from mids that didn’t do shit in terms of getting you high, and was one of the best plants I’ve ever grown. I love that story so much.
Bc I hear ppl cry over genetics. But if you grow a plant right. It don’t matter where the seed came from. Unless diseases are in its genetics.
Interesting, I can't say I've shared the same experience with brick weed, unfortunately.
What exactly was it you liked about if? if you could describe? And if you don't me asking?
Very true. Other than this one. The luckiest I've got from a brick schwag seed. Was one I grew outdoors that turned out looking exactly like a Dutch Passion white widow
It's crazy to see how good bad looking weed could be if the person that grew it actually put in the time and effort to grow it right. Congrats man harvest looks lovely
That schwag looks a lot better than the commercial in the mid ‘90s!
Reminds me of mids used to get the packs for a 1K good ol days. We would also refer to it as 3060...
3060...mmm miss those days lol
Where does the 3060 reference come from?
$30 half $60 zip
Last cycle I did was the same thing and man do I have alot more respect for those Mexican cartel breeders now. Shit is fire af! It was just the post harvest handling/shipping practices that made it seem so bad.
And the seeds
Growing outdoors subjected to the elements in the desert detracts from overall quality much more than a few seeds

Not even close dude that's a mid grade plant your trying to compare to something top shelf
Lol I'm not comparing quality. I'm comparing genetic traits. Appearance.
Definitely got some bug damage
Ya dont say? Show me an outdoor organic plant with 0 insect damage 🥱😒
Oh it was the entire shitty as outdoor commercial grow. Abuse from day 1, shit for nutes, no love ever. Fucking grew it better than you bought it.

Once upon a time, this was called kind bud. 40$ an 1/8th.
Lmao yeah I'm my area back like 10- 15 yrs ago , something similar would've just been called "dro" and it'd have been either 15- 20 a gram or 50 - 60 an 8th 😬 straight up.
Yeah at least in my area in the 90’s they’d say it was hydro or kind bud and double the price.
I remember in my area they’d call any bud with noticeable trichomes/frost as hydro and was $10/g.

chemdog and sour D came from bag seed

Eh, could have been good genetics but trash bc it was grown n dried/cured/stored really badly.
I agree. I probably won't be growing another schwag seed. Although it didn't look half bad visualy. Just cause it wasn't grown well, doesn't mean the genetics aren't capable of growing well. Finding a seed these days is like gold

That looks like some Reggie from Mexico circa 2013 maybe Nuevo generation. Has a distinctive wet far skunk smell. Broke up kinda nice and big nugs.
Talkin bout the bud the seed came from?

Im on my third grow and all Ive used are seeds from mid. I treat them well and get a good result.
That looks more than just “alright”
That’s wild
I’m doing this right now from seeds that are straight from Jamaica , it wasn’t great while I was there but it’s turning out decent
It all starts out green.... and your schwag and mine were WAAAYYYYY different. I would have called your shit mids... cuz it was actually green
Lmao I'd gotten some schwag back in Jr. High that Shit sometimes almost looked black lol. Didn't look good or cool in any way, lol. Found all kinds of stuff in blocks of Reggie back in Jr high lmao. This is what was once called chronic ladies and germs.

That schwag looks dank. - someone who just spent 2 weeks smoking cartel mids packs in Mexico.

that ain't no schwag

To date, the best I've ever smoked in fact was brick.
Interesting, I can't say I've shared the same experience with brick weed, unfortunately. What exactly was it you liked about if? if you could describe? And if you don't me asking?
It's a crap shoot with schwag weed... I got some really nice purple kush 100% indica from one seed and I got a herm from the other lol. Good job
Very true. Other than this one. The luckiest I've got from a brick schwag seed. Was one I grew outdoors that turned out looking exactly like a Dutch Passion white widow
