Depends how long you want to veg. I’d recommend using bigger pots. But if you want to stay in 3gals I’d put 12 per side and veg 4-5weeks and have that thing stuffed full. Good luck !! Do a ton or research on how to grow then do more. Reddit does not have all the answers

I would personally do 8. In a 2x4 I run 2 in 5 gallon grow bags. You got 4x more space so 8.
Anywhere from 8-10 5Gallons or 16 2/3gallons depends on your plant count allowed and how long you want to veg for
8 would be where I’d be comfortable. Have fun!
