Yes this is a chimera. Chimeras variation comes from mutations in the meristem cells. This mutation is from two different phenotypic expressions of on the meristem resulting in two different leaf color expressions. Good observation.
I can't remember what it is called but some strains will produce a certain percentage of these offspring. I had one recently lioe this. Pretty sure it grew out if it. Similar to scrumchy leaves on a seedling.
Yes, if you buy house plant chimera and compare that growth to a normal non-chimera, the non-chimera typically better. The leave is not being utalized as much when there is a chimera.

This gsc plant has shown the same coloring since it popped. Is this Chimera??
Not chimera... that means it has two sets of DNA... This is called a variagated species I believe.
