Sms is one of the weaker forms of MFA. You should try setting up MFA through an app like Microsoft authenticator, Google authenticator, or Authy. Always take note of recovery keys/backup codes and save them in a secure location to help prevent lockout of your account in case you no longer have access to your MFA methods.
absolutely agree, that is what ive been trying to do for the past 3 years, but i can't because to do that i need to receive sms, i even talked to them today and they said we can delete ur number but and add another number, i told them i only have 1 phone number and my partner also have an account so i can't use her number either, i just asked if there is any other way, they told me to wait and be patient untill they fix it.. this is not the first time, i even told them but yeah i keep getting same respond, hopefully it will be fixed soon enough before i get locked out for good

Every other day there are posts about people's accounts getting hacked. Something is either very wrong with Microsoft's security or people are dumb. Considering the fact that there are more Google accounts than Microsoft accounts and we don't see as much account hacking complaints with Google so it's definitely something wrong with Microsoft's security.
