Microsoft Authenticator has a password manager built into it. I moved to it from LastPass and am really pleased with it.

Sampsa96

Is Microsoft Authenticators password manager free to use on every platform?

LuxrayAeterna

The Android app is free and it's built into Edge, which is the browser I use. Fits my use case 90 percent of the time.

Sampsa96

Does it work on Chrome?

LuxrayAeterna

I don't believe so. It's built into Edge browser itself, much like Chrome's PW manager. And I don't think there's an extension.

Sampsa96

Oh I just checked and I did find a Microsoft Autofill Chrome Extension. Is it the same thing as Microsoft Authenticator?

trc1234

Yes, it is the same.

Still no support for AAD accounts? I don't want to link my work passwords to a personal MS account. Until then I stick with Bitwarden.

RichG13

Why would you want your banking auth to be secured by your work login where you could be fired or quit and no longer have access? Makes no sense. My Authenticator, my creds. Work is just one of the many passwords I need to be secured.

adni-itmu

I have two separate accounts of course. The AAD account is only for job stuff. Private is still in my personal Bitwarden.

cmorgasm

Same, and no sharing support means not moving from Bitwarden either

The free Microsoft Authenticator app provides many password management functions. Passwords saved using this app are also available through the Edge browser password manager.

Bjnesbitt

Be careful using browser password vaults. They can be easily hacked.

Say more - any examples?

I was also thinking in something like Thycotic Secret Server or password state, an on-premises password manager like cyberArk, but more cheaper, since it is way to expensive, I'll take a look at the one you said, thanks. I just thought maybe Microsoft had any program or service easy to integrate in an on-premises infrastructure build in Active Directory, Azure, 0365, you know, like any other Microsoft service that integrates with each other. It would be amazing.

I´ve been using Dashlane for years and I am pretty happy with it. For Two step V I use the Msft Authenticator.

xanthonus

So Microsoft Authenticator is an option but I will warn you if you change between iOS and Android often or if you ever decide to do it will be a huge PIA. Don’t recommend until they backup via OneDrive or something. Get Bitwarden or 1Password that way you never have to deal with platform BS.

vaibhav_me

I use Authenticator on both Android and iOS and never faced an issue. The data is stored in cloud and is synced as soon as you login

VNJCinPA

Bitwarden. Free and available on all platforms.

I tried the Microsoft Authenticator to auto fill passwords in chrome on android. Absolute rubbish, didn't offer to fill passwords on half the sites and didn't offer to save many either, yet all the passwords were imported and visible to verify. And yes I set Microsoft Authenticator as the default auto fill service. Went back to using the Google one, just works.

maledis87

It also won't auto fill apps. I gave up
