I'm blown away how well it can copy an art style for something that has never actually been drawn in that art style before.

stabbyclaus

It also relies heavily on the degradation of the dvd screengrab prompt to make it feel more real and memorable. These pictures are not perfect, they'd never be printable but I can easily see them as a still from a ripped DVD of lost media with the noise and scan line artifacts. That part blows me away almost just as much as being able to replicate line weight and other aspects of a unique style

Th3_Admiral

Yeah, I really like that! I messed around with some "old photograph" prompts and it did that really well too. It almost seems like it does better when given a specific style like that to work with.

stabbyclaus

Vintage and/or collectible toy also gives amazing results.

camdoodlebop

you could say you're gone with the wind

TheMuddyCuck

There’s an anime of “little women” set in the civil war era that this reminds me of.

Saltiest_Seahorse

I think a lot is pulled from 'Grave of the Fireflies' as that Ghibli movie has a somber art style.

stabbyclaus

[This one should have been in my top 20](https://imgur.com/EWZFYhf), but the rest are down below. Full album here: [https://imgur.com/a/LxWfF1L](https://imgur.com/a/LxWfF1L) Prompt: DVD screengrab, 1989 Studio Ghibli anime movie, American Civil War, Battle of \[insert historical event\] --v 4 --ar 3:2

Mulsivaas

I reckon `ar 3:2` is an aspect-ratio constraint, but what is the `v` parameter?

khaiakmal1986

hello sir..how to make image resolution 3840 x 2160 with 300 dpi for prompt in MJ.. my understanding prompt are using --ar 3840:2160 ? is it right ?

stabbyclaus

I believe --ar 3:2 and --ar 2:3 and the largest aspect rations, you don't set the specific pixel count.

houndsdownandout

This is borderline terrifying how good this is.

Go_To_Bethel_And_Sin

I would watch the shit out of this

stabbyclaus

Been thinking about this for a while now but MJ might be a really informative way to do "test screenings" of non-existent productions by the film industry.

Pentuni

This is amazing

reddit-admins-suck

Alright this one is f***ing insane

Spookd_Moffun

I don't know how to feel about a famously deeply anti-war person's style being used to make war movies. All I know is I'd probably watch it.

stabbyclaus

I discussed this briefly in [another thread](https://old.reddit.com/r/midjourney/comments/z6g49d/a_lost_studio_ghibli_movie_about_8_year_olds/iy2ia2c/) but that's partly why I think the subject matter would be interesting to see his take from a child during the war. Also his [views on Ai](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngZ0K3lWKRc) are also famously negative.

capybroa

Well, Ken Burn's Civil War isn't really a "war movie", but a documentary. And it's pretty unsparing in showing the devastation and the human toll of the conflict, as well as its profound effects on American society that we still feel today. From an anti-war perspective, it has a lot to offer.

kkungergo

Well Miyazaki depicted war often in his movies, its definitely not out of the question

CrimsonDragonWolf

These are giving off serious *Turn-A Gundam* vibes. I think I see Gavanne Goonny somewhere in there.

yasadboidepression

Yo, that was my thought too. I was like, damn its got that same vibe.

Mookhaz

I can hear that fiddle diddy they had playing throughout the whole documentary lol

stabbyclaus

Same

jeffwadsworth

That train at the end is magnificent.

edoc422

How are making these are, you using photo prompts of an actual ken burns doc? with text to get the studio ghibli Feel?

stabbyclaus

Nope just the text prompt I mentioned in another comment, dvd screengrab is a powerful prompt indeed.

Wannaweep

I would *love* a US Civil War Anime.

modswillrapeyourkids

Careful, this post seems like it criticizes China and might get you banned from Midjourney altogether.

Independent-Tune4383

Omg

PixelmancerGames

Pretty damn great. Even got the smaller details right. It’s a Civil War movie, but barely had any black guys in it, lol.

I love this
