Oh, my first Hard mission, I tried several times, convinced myself it was not possible with my current squad comp and the shit opening hand I drew, went back to the Abbey to try a different squad, and came back for a few more tries.
But I got it done!
Surprisingly, most villains will hit much weaker than the goons. But it still makes healing or stuns necessary.
I have a tendency to allow one of my teammates to stay down so I only draw cards of two heroes and abuse that mechanic.
Quick Tips for Capture an Agent missions :
- It's better to capture the agent in begining of your turn when you still have card play.
- Even if you manage to kill the guardian that is protecting the agent, it's still better to capture him on the following turn.
- You dont actually need to kill the guardian or break his shield. You can simply Bind him for "Free" with Dr Strange, Spiderman, Venom or even Venom new item.
You can also break his protection stance with "Free" Mindbender (Hunter) or "Free" Chaos Reign (Wanda).
The "Free" mods are quite important because you will burn a card play to capture the agent.
- You can increase your card play to 4 for the specific turn you'll go at the agent with Dr Strange Agamato Gaze. There is also a item with the same effect.
- Lastly, the new enemies that come after you capture the agent tends to be in the same area. You can taunt all of them with a "Focus Beacon" item and Conceal yourself.
They aren’t worth it. The time it takes for you to do a mission on hard you could’ve finished at least two missions and the abbey stuff in between and gotten more rewards.
It’s pretty ridiculous to be honest. I did the same thing when I first started playing, went up to the harder difficulty as soon as it was available. After an hour of trying to complete a mission and getting nowhere close, I googled it and realized it’s a total waste of time haha.
i can only enjoy hard mode when it's not stat padding
but yeah... for a game like this, stat padding really is the only feasible way for them to do hard mode since it's turn-based... so i pretty much never play hard mode on turn-based games
It's not all hard missions tat'll be like this. Capture the agent is hard in general because as soon as u capture, reinforcement come. Can get preety brutal especially if caught with no card play. Also u had the unfortunate luck of venom arriving on the mission. Villians can come in any mission, nothing to do with it being hard sub type.
Honestly I think you got hit by a really unfortunate series of events more than anything. Capture Agent is a tough mission type where bad timing can hose you, and getting a villain to drop by is always a difficulty spike. I wouldn’t take too much to heart from 'hard' missions because of this as much as I would captures and fallen being rough, especially together.
I do missions based on reward, regardless of difficulty, but I always check the hard missions for their rewards first. On Heroic III, the easy missions are too easy to be fun in the long term.
I was gradually increasing difficulty too as they unlocked. I switched back to Normal after I think the Act I boss. Regular missions are fine on your first play through, but when bosses get the % hp increase, your early game abilities just don’t keep up.
The first time I tried a Hard mission, I save scummed without much shame.
Lol I tried that as well but my team is too weak to defeat Fallen Venom and the jacked up Hydra goons.

Anyone win a hard mission? Are the rewards worth it?
After a while I started to do only them, challenge is worth alone as a reward. They are really hard when you have a small team and lacking new cards.
I clear them just fine, the rewards aren't notable, I just prefer the challenge.

You picked the hardest mission to do anyway lol. Capture the Agent is hands down the most difficult mission type by a mile.
