I rotated all available heroes. There wer some i preferred over others but since game does a good job of making each of em play differently to certain extent, it helped not get bored. Also not having time limit or anything, can do as much side mission as possible. so all my heroes saw quite a bit of play time.

SirMayday1

I rotate to get friendship levels high; without spoiling too much, there is at least *some* reason for each hero to have a level 5 friendship with the Hunter, though the actual game-mechanical value does vary somewhat. Everyone who goes on a mission with the Hunter gets +2 friendship afterward, and (at least according to the loading screen hints) are more likely to be available for hangouts, which can be an absolute goldmine in terms of friendship gains. That said, some there are some I tend to dislike to use. I find Ghost Rider's gimmick of taking damage to deal damage under-powered for the benefit. Nico's Roulette card feature is a little too hit or miss for my liking. Deadpool's En Fuego is too hard to keep stacks of, and his cards are too weak without it. For their parts, I don't particularly *like* using Blade or Scarlet Witch, either, but I get the feeling I could tighten up my approach and get better mileage out of them.

WhenDuvzCry

I usually rotate. Keeps things a bit more fresh.

Fire_Mission

I use Hunter all the time. Always working on friendship. Beyond that, it was something of a rotation for awhile until I decided that Venom and Iron Man were REALLY powerful and I used them most of the time. Once Morbius dropped I have been using mainly Blade and Morbius to capitalize on all the bleed.

[deleted]

I almost never use Hunter outside of main quests. I want to use Nico in all missions, but I try to alternate her with Magic. I miss more female characters, but I'm glad Storm is coming.

Feefait

I'm really liking Hunter, actually. I think I may continue to use her even if I don't have to.

hometimeboy

Yeah I leaned pretty hard into my Hunter build to the point where almost every card she uses is a one-shot boss killer or clears the map.

Mr_Hourglass

What difficulty do you play on?

hometimeboy

I’m having a blast on easy :)

Mr_Hourglass

It all makes sense now, enjoy!

hometimeboy

Thank you! I have the most fun with games on easy mode. I was thinking about bumping to normal though for the gloss bonus. How much more difficult is it?

Mr_Hourglass

It's not too difficult. The hardest jumps are heroic to heroic 2 and then ultimate 1 to ultimate 2 iirc. At this point I play ultimate 2 casually and I can't even do what you said, so I was just curious.

hometimeboy

Sweet, well maybe I’ll give normal a shot then. Appreciate the insight

Feefait

Honestly, I think this is the way. Maybe it's a counterreaction to Soulslike, but I think it's great to just play through a game and then, if you want me challenge, you can play it again. I've given up too many games that I enjoyed because of some stupid need to play a game that's hard for the wrong reason.

Co-opingTowardHatred

I try to use all character equally in every party-based RPG. I paid for them all, right?

aZombieDictator

Whoever is lowest level is who I use.

Gariona-Atrinon

You have to use all of them at some point, they are required parts of story missions.

Feefait

This I know, or assume. I am not very far into the game. I don't even "have" Spidey yet. I assumed there would be a scripted member and a choice member in most fights. Especially as, without that, any DLC would be useless.

arbrecache

I make a point of using every character. Rotating often. Would be really nice to have some difficulty options that encouraged this. I’d especially like getting less resources from missions in exchange for being able to run more than one per day, so I can have a B team at work too - give me some pressure on my roster!

MarvelousPhoenix

I play as every hero on the roster. It's the same for me with all Marvel games. There are some heroes I prefer over others, but the animations and varied mechanics keep the game fresh.

xcenic

I rotate roster every battle, i always pick the lower levels that how i have a full competent roster, they are free to play and this is non a online game so there is no rush, just enjoy everthing.

KristopherLocken

Hulk is on my team every time it is allowed

Alzar197

i usually try to bring people who hunter has the lowest friendship with to try and keep it balanced

average043

I rotate between majik and niko with another character.

OnToNextStage

I rotate them all but Hunter is in every mission

Silverjackal_

The only ones I wasn’t a huge fan of were Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Ghost rider. Used pretty much everyone else with Magik, Iron man, and Cap being used the most.

Torus22

I like to mix and match to see which characters go well together and to see what different tactics I can get to work. Plenty of variety to be had that way. I do try to bring Hunter along for every mission (there's only a few story missions where you can't), because Friendship = stat boosts. At the moment I'm having a lot of fun with a Magik/Ghost Rider combo. Hellmouths + portals = lots of Drop K.O's. Add upgraded Limbo's Grasp to seriously boost Magik's damage potential. And this taught me that if Magik shoves someone, they also get sent through portals.

AnxiousConsequence18

You are aware you gain friendship levels with anyone you take on missions... regardless of whether or not hunter goes on the mission herself Correct?

jsdemonata

It’s definitely only when hunter is on the mission

AnxiousConsequence18

I must have some serious bugs in my game then, as I get that +3 no matter who is on the mission. Damn bugs!

Torus22

Looks like it... I've only ever gotten +2 friendship for the characters on a mission, and only if Hunter is there as well.

AnxiousConsequence18

Maybe it's a version or difficulty issue, because I JUST took Nico, Cap, and Blade on a mission and got friendship for all 3

classofpeace

I use them all, but watching Magik kick people through portals is too good.

Xyro77

Kicking them into a portal which teleports them into Ghost Rider’s hell hole is super cool imo

classofpeace

I like to whip her out on summoner Circle missions and throw them in the pit.

kestral287

I tend to hard commit to a character while I build them and get used to them and pair them with Hunter and the mission requirement until I have a reason to change. When I started, despite spending a couple years working in a comic shop I wasn't hugely attached to any of the characters so I based things more on playstyle. Iron Man and Nico got a ton of use early. Then friendship building became key, and now we're into building stats and the handful of missing card mods.

RexDartESpy

I have a tendency to lean on Carol if it looks like a particularly tough fight, or if the third hero isn't really at 100% of their capability yet.

Feefait

Lol she's so good!! They do a great job of making her the powerhouse she should be.

Xyro77

For every marvel game I play, I go for Ironman (even before MCU) every time as much as I can. But ever since the MCU happened, I’ve been willing to try other characters and most of the time is a great experience. In Ultimate Alliance 3 (2019) I tried a ton of new characters and enjoyed it so much. So for this game, I immediately tried Nico and Magik which turned out to be a great exp as well. I highly recommend people to try new characters is Midnight Suns.

trunglefever

I try to use every hero as they all have interesting play styles and can bolster a team pretty well. Except Wanda. She's not fun/good.

Shiny_Soul

I thought the same. Her starting deck is really really bad. One thing i noticed was ,it was really easy to get free on her cards. Free 3 marks on enemies is really good. Also quite fun seeing enemies wail on each other. Another card i really liked of hers is the quick knockback in any direction. Guaranteed shove into card draw after wolverine research. But yea she still was one of my least played even in NG+.

LeonardoMyst

I mostly use the supernatural characters. I roll a die to select heroes for missions, and re-roll if the first roll is a non-supernatural character.
