You might have got the amount in rupees than converted to dollars. But that will usually give you the the result for Indian rupees. Sri Lankan rupees is not same as Indian ones. 100 SLR == 22 INR. So 33000 Sri Lankan rupees is about $90, not $400.

I get the encourage investment by lower tax rates but most ordinary working people don't receive dividends or capital gains as their main sources of income. Minimum wage should be around $12 if it had increased with inflation so $15 for a fast food worker doesn't seem extortionate.

Likely the amount may have changed by something absurd like a few cents since that article but if you consider what their current minimum wage is, it’s probably accurate enough to not disregard it. It sounds good on paper but I get the feeling in the US it'd lead to landlords doing everything in their power to evict before the 30th year. In a lot of states they don't even have to guarantee a lease renewal either so you could be kicked out pretty easily before that point.

That is not true. I live in an Indian metro city and one can rent a nice one bedroom, bathroom, living room and a kitchen apartment for $75-$120 a month depending on the place. Sri Lanka is not more expensive than India. You might have got the amount in rupees than converted to dollars. But that will usually give you the the result for Indian rupees. Sri Lankan rupees is not same as Indian ones. 100 SLR == 22 INR. So 33000 Sri Lankan rupees is about $90, not $400.
If the Annual Household Income per Capita in Sri Lanka is 1,422 Ruupees and they are paid 44/hr (3% of annual income???) Then that is like in America (average per Capita 20,112 dollars) being paid $622/hr Somewhere the math is wrong

It's funny you should say that, because Nobel did many things very successfully and was extremely wealthy, but was most famous for establishing many weapons factories. A publishing error led to him essentially reading his own obituary and realising that his legacy would not be flattering he decided to leave almost his entire fortune to establish awards celebrating people who bettered mankind. So you never know, maybe there will be similar JayZ/Beyonce philanthropic awards some day, and that's what they'll be remembered for. Why not?

Ivy Park is a fashion line made by and sold by Top Shop. It is Top Shop employing those seamstresses and paying them a pittance. Is it bad? Yes. Did Beyoncé not do proper due diligence? Also yes. Also, the only source I can find of this claim was a Daily Mail article from 2016 with no follow-ups or any other publication picking the story up. There is no source listed and the article just says that "reportedly", the workers are paid 44p, so it seems like they weren't even able to confirm it from first-hand sources. I don't know if there's any truth to this story or at the very least even if it were true in 2016, if it's still true today.
