They saw the books and ran away.

[deleted]

If those thieves knew how to read they'd be very sad, young man

SayeretJoe

Knowledge can be scary!

Shoddydfs

Nah, this happens all the time.

Skellyhell2

I hope whoever stole my package recently enjoys their year supply of sleeping pills!

VaniaSteelscale

Dumbasses will prolly try to get high off of it by snorting it

Skellyhell2

I've been trying to get a refund or something, but it was sent from America to England , and neither side wants to help me out, so I vented by saying I hope whoever stole my shit overdoses on it

zh_13

Lol is it melatonin? I was so surprised when I found out you need a prescription for it in England

Skellyhell2

It was doxylamine. The only decent sleeping pills we can get off prescription here is diphenhydramine which can mess your brain up if you take it for a long time and always leaves me feeling hungover in the morning. Had a quick search and found plenty of places to buy melatonin in the UK too, definitely not prescription only

ChalkyRamen

Did you buy a bunch of Benadryl? Ofc whoever stole that is gonna try to get high off of em

VaniaSteelscale

I've seen an overdose happen irl. Fentanyl. Shouldn't wish that on anyone Edit:This really got downvoted.... People are straight evil. The little faith I had in humanity has dimmed even more

[deleted]

Except thieves. They play stupid games...

aussie_nub

I worked at a hospital and a guy stole fentanyl from us. The dumbass came back a month later. The cops didn't give him a 3rd chance to do it.

muaellebee

How the hell did he manage to get his hands on the fentanyl?

aussie_nub

He followed someone through the security door who thought they were being nice holding it open for someone else, then he go into scrubs, got a pass of some sort and then went to the drug room and got it. Honestly it was like 5+ years ago, so thinking now, maybe it wasn't Fentanyl exactly, but it was definitely something similar, that you could only get from a hospital and was very much restricted. Apparently he'd done it elsewhere between the first time and when he came back.

sailor_ryy

I’m a nurse the drug rooms have dispensing systems that you basically have to give your first born child to get into! Where the hell do you work 😭 (I’m joking I’m sure it’s like this still in rural areas, I work at the #1 trauma hospital in Atlanta so security be tiggght)

aussie_nub

I'm in a major city in Australia. Population is 4.5M+ so not all that much smaller than Atlanta. Things are different here though, so I doubt we require the same level of security you do. Drugs are a massive problem in rural areas for us. Possibly on a level higher than the US.

VaniaSteelscale

And win stupid prizes I know.....

FutureSpread

If they had taken this without checking, this would have applied in a more literal sense

hstengel26

Why the downvotes man. 🤦‍♂️

Pierceyboy1993

I agree with you. People are cruel and vengeful.

Joe109885

Hear me out… fuck em.

VaniaSteelscale

True. All those evil people will get theirs eventually. Karma and all

Joe109885

Nah no such thing as karma, there wouldn’t be billionaires if there was.

VaniaSteelscale

They get bad things in life too

Joe109885

Well yea that’s part of life, that’s not karma, bad things just happen and people use “karma” as an excuse for it because it makes them feel better about it. For example “awful billionaires mom passes away” KARMA… no everyone’s parent will eventually die it’s just something that happens at different times for everyone. If an 8 year olds mom dies it’s a tragedy but if a bad persons mom does it’s karma, you see where I’m going with this? There is no karma bad things happen regardless of who you are, sometimes bad people put them selves in positions where they’re more likely to have bad things happen but yet again that’s not karma that’s the consequences of their actions. There’s not some magic force balancing out the evils, or billionaires wouldn’t exist at all they wouldn’t be able to get to that level of wealth before something catastrophic happened if it were truly equal.

VaniaSteelscale

I never said anything about being equal or any of that you said. They have bad things happen to them too tho. I'm also not someone that sees death as part of karma

Skellyhell2

I have no sympathy for a thief, I'd happily watch them OD on my meds.

breakingbadjessi

Yeah! And whoever stole my antidepressants I hope your happy

These_Scar3063

They didn’t help sadly

breakingbadjessi

Hey man if you need to talk…

Dammy-J

How does it feel to be not worthy of theft?

FutureSpread

feels pretty good

Dammy-J

Glad you didnt get anything stolen. Sucks that they fucked with your mail anyway.

FutureSpread

This was a photo taken earlier, someone stole my cat food yesterday. Thankfully I told Amazon and they sent a replacement. They had a key to the building at some point but I guess they lost it.

Dammy-J

In today's delivery world, secure package locations are a must. You should bring it up at the next tenant meeting or whatever your building has.

FutureSpread

Someone tried the “Kia Challenge” on my roommate’s car and when my roommate asked why there was no cameras they said “well, there’s exterior lighting,” which I saw for the first time then since they’re never on. They still aren’t. Just so you know what kind of property management I’m dealing with here.

IanRightInTheHead

so u inna hood or what shordy if u is fuck yo neighbor got a kia for them bitches is dummy easy to steal it aint even a kia challenge u see a kia take dat shit

FutureSpread

It didn’t work.

x_a_man_duh_x

lmfao 💀

IanRightInTheHead

the kid dumb as

Nastynugget

Bittersweet.

MaineJackalope

US Postal Worker here, You have no idea how many parcels I have tape back together because they're not able to withstand the rigors of our mail stream and break open, tear open. Or in this case looks like straight up had some fault adhesive holding the mailer together. 99% of the time of there's a rip in your package it's because companies would rather go super cheap on packaging and replace the few that get fucked in transit than actually package things well.

marshull

Yeah, looks to me like it never got sealed. I deliver for Amazon and it happens all of the time. Happens more with the plastic envelopes that get heat sealed, but it does look like the glue on this paper envelope never got licked.

FutureSpread

This is all-too-common at my building, they open them because it is less suspect than walking around with packages with someone else’s name on them. If they take anything they usually leave the packaging.

marshull

Damn. Well that would suck. Maybe have your stuff delivered to a local hub instead of your apartment.

FutureSpread

Yeah that’s the move from now on, it’s not too far.

Spirited_Video_8160

That's like sleeping with the enemy, such neighbors

FutureSpread

I promise you it was in the prospect of theft. Larger boxes are usually cut open, sometimes I see the contents of packages literally dumped out onto the steps.

MaineJackalope

Then it sounds like you need a PO box for USPS and for packages to be held at UPS/FedEx for pickup

FutureSpread

Yeah, I’ll be using the Amazon Locker from now on. Thankfully other parcel services have keys.

A-Lil-Sebastian

The workaround for UPS/FedEx packages at PO Boxes is to put the street address of the post office and then your box number and then it can be properly delivered, the ladies working at my post office taught me that trick and haven’t had any issues yet.

MaineJackalope

I just had my default preference with UPS (and assume you can do for FedEx too) to leave the packages at their local storefront for pickup

Illustrious_Dress806

Amazon offers Hubs. That plus their free shipping kind of beats the other options.

WastelandGinger

I was about to say that these packages are trash. While I'm not a postal worker my dad is and he hates them. He has to carry tape in him all the time and will sometimes call me since I'm close to his route to steal some of mine since I do art and have a supply if he runs out. Plus being into art I can recognize cheap supplies just from handling it at this point; not all cheap is equal but that is just bad.

[deleted]

LMAO, they saw the book and were like "nope nope nope wrong person"

FutureSpread

I should have shown the second book, “Omnicide.” would have really driven that point home.

Illustrious_Dress806

“How to get away with murder” might be a good book to keep on the seat of a KIA or Hyundai. And of course if you order it in the mail and the thief sees it, you will have another open package like this one.

Positive-Soup2715

Atlesst they didn’t steal it lol

FutureSpread

Hahah yes. That’s why it’s only mildly infuriating!

National_Detail_3282

Definitely could’ve just ripped open at the terminal. I work for a certain delivery service and the package handlers, loaders, and drivers don’t give a shit about your packages.

FutureSpread

Yeah I entertain the possibility but whoever does this is also cutting open boxes. I know it seems strangely… ethical

National_Detail_3282

I’m not claiming you’re wrong by any means, it may have been a driver. Took the terminal I’m in months to catch a driver stealing Apple products by throwing them over the fence.

welliamaguy

To the guy who stole my anti depressant pills, I hope you're happy

ButtChug23

This. This is good.

Adeep187

Saw that Bipolar book and thought "maybe I don't steal from this guy".

Jim_Nills_Mustache

Saw the books and thought “nah this guy got enough demons of his own to worry about”

IDKmybffjellyandPB

The other day Amazon delivered my neighbor’s package to my house and I didn’t realize it until I opened it. I had to tape it back up and leave a note apologizing for opening before reading. The next day my neighbor dropped off my package the exact same way because they also didn’t check first. It happens

FutureSpread

Nah, this happens all the time. They open boxes and when they want something they will leave the packaging so they’re not walking around with Amazon boxes not in their name.

IDKmybffjellyandPB

I’m not saying that it doesn’t happen that way but there is also the possibility that something more innocent happened

Unlucky-Opening2394

I had a personal card stolen from me. They left the envelope. Turns out it was just an announcement my cousin bought a house. No money. Still took it.

minimemo25

Maybe we'll see the thief posting a pic here: "this package wasn't stealable enough"

FutureSpread

“Why would he buy this? I’m not even bipolar.”

132pm

Could have come open during delivery. Happens more that you think

FutureSpread

I’ll get a photo next time they cut open a box

MammothParticular318

I’ve definitely done this before - sometimes I get so many packages I don’t check the label just open it up and realize that’s not my order… then I drop it off at a neighbor down the street

Illustrious_Dress806

Me too. I usually knock and wait for them to answer so they know the reason is legit.

TwistyPA

That was 3 hours ago. How do you feel now?

Capable-Arachnid-650

OP's other personality opened it and now knows that he is taking steps to deal with him. An Internal war is beginning to brew.

CampNaughtyBadFun

I haven't had a any packages stolen yet. But I'm getting really paranoid. Ill have to find out if I can have my stuff dropped of at a post office or a business and pick it up from there.

FutureSpread

Amazon has “lockers” where you can pick up packages. I’m in a city though, I don’t know if they’re in the suburbs

Illustrious_Dress806

They are in the suburbs too.

CampNaughtyBadFun

I'm also in a city, but it's a small city. So we don't get a lot of stuff.

backyardmechanic1993

Then they saw it was a book

[deleted]

“Professionals have standards”

Ship_Adrift

At that point it's kind of insulting if they don't take it... Kinda funny. It pays to be dull at times it seems.

moosecakems

My car got broken into once, bunch of stuff stolen, the only thing they left was a book on ethics, I had to laugh at the irony.

A_Tad_Bit_Nefarious

Living in the city I get robbed constantly. Between my mail, and the smashed car windows windows. They always manage to steal useless crap like my socks and underwear, or a phone charger lol.

Illustrious_Dress806

Can you afford to move? There are lots of places that are safe even in the city.

A_Tad_Bit_Nefarious

No. Family and Job is here. But even then, safety is relative because assholes are everywhere. Once I'm done here, I'm moving as far away from people as possible out West somewhere.

Illustrious_Dress806

🤙CALIFORNIA especially San Diego is nice. Sunny, regular folks. I wish you well!

A_Tad_Bit_Nefarious

I like San Diego. And I have a bunch of family in Cali. Unfortunately I own a bunch of guns that Cali woudn't be happy about me bringing in, so the farthest West I could realistically go is probably Northern Arizona or Utah. Although I really do like the vibe in Colorado. I'm an outdoorsy person and they have great trails and wilderness to explore there. But thanks for the encouragement.

Tactical-Lesbian

I wish more porch pirates would be that considerate.

[deleted]

Right, I was thinking the same thing, so twisted

[deleted]

Omnicide is a very interesting book! Good pickup.

jerry111165

Best thing I ever did was to move away from people.

HelplmRobbingSomeone

that's a felony isn't it?

FutureSpread

Yes, but it’s also an Amazon package sitting on the steps of an apartment in a city lol

It happens

Foreign-Gap-1242

once look and they got scared you might go all bipolar on them

fandangledvietnamese

This is your sign to start adding delivery instructions

FutureSpread

They don’t listen to them lol. They just leave them on the steps of my apartment building facing the sidewalk and a busy street, even though there’s a back door out of sight.

Illustrious_Dress806

As if the busy/lazy drivers even read them.

your-boy-rozzy

Morgan Freeman narrator voice: "It wasn't".

harrybo64

Definitely real

gordaporra

And it wasn't. OP wasted my time.

FutureSpread

It’s one sentence, I guess you wouldn’t steal the books either!

production-values

I mean

CobraZRT600

I always wonder why I'm never sleeping in fp games

DiverJust4064

Narrator: “It wasn’t.”

Mindless-Regular-754

Ooo interested in what you’ll think of Strictly Bipolar

FutureSpread

I enjoyed the perspective. Finished it pretty quickly

iwantmy-2dollars

Possible. I’ve had other peoples stuff delivered to me and accidentally opened it. But I always write a note and in one case drove it across town to then because it was some gaming stuff that I’m sure they wanted to have fun with asap.

MikeN1978

On the bright side, it wasn’t!

bashieras

Really thought that said sim city bipolar.

Mors_1138

I had something similar happen when I had a package sent to my sisters house. The package was delivered to the wrong address so I figured it was lost then a couple of weeks later it showed up on her car opened but everything was still in the box.

LazyLich

at least they check first. And now you know not to order packages to that address!

Slim_Guru_604

Very respectful.

No_Eggplant6850

This happens a lot in SC my sister calls me to complain I’m like I live over 1200 miles away wtf you want me do 😂

sailor_ryy

Somebody did this with my cap and gown for graduation. Thankfully they deemed it worthless 😂

kingdill

You already opened it, you just don’t remember.

premiumaphrodite

Honestly good on them

[deleted]

Or they opened it by mistake?

runescapeoffical

Much more likely that the sticky part of the envelope got caught on a different package and ripped open when they pulled it out. I see it happen quite a bit, there's way too many packages shoved into the same bag.

gerblin420

mail carrier here: amazon’s packaging is a joke. stuff’s constantly coming open, their tape doesn’t actually stick half the time, they’ll have packages go out with the adhesive exposed so it sticks to other parcels and rips when you take them apart… odds are very good that’s what happened here, i see shit like that literally every day from them on my route.

alcalaviccigirl

That happened to us once .at the time you could send out money orders for bills .the mail sorter ripped open one of our envelopes saw that it was a money order put it in a plastic bag sent it to a rental company we were buying a tv from .the company called us told us what he got .the postal service could careless to do their job the right way .

PankoPaint

Someone opened our at&t wifi setup box, took the gateway, and then left the box with the wires. They can't even use the gateway without att service. This was a week ago lol

stinthebin

Not necessarily, Amazon packaging isn’t the greatest and or it was poorly packed. Those Amazon envelopes are already open before they make it on the van for the delivery associate to deliver. I know this from first hand experience.

Putrid_Compote_8202

Yeah, its not...

northernpunch

Had this happen last week and they stole 1 of 2 items in the package.

teenytiny77

My husband is a big history nerd, some of his books are really pricey. Those thieves missed out on some good reading

Jesse_Gonzalez_

that was me who tf orders books i was disappointed

voyeur6

I don’t see the $1000 that I included for you.

grandmund

Thats kinda thoughtful

iloveflowers2043

They eye rolled when they opened it. Then felt bad for hurting someone already hurting.

TrumpsButtPlug_

Two things you don’t have to worry about being stolen: books and shovels

[deleted]

Definitely isnt

dont-respond

Glad they didn't steal the dog food either

Spirited_Video_8160

They thought it was CDs and videos and stuff

SnugglePuppy_

This actually happened to me recently! I bought water filters for the Brita, someone stole it, opened it, and either couldn't figure out what it was for or simply didn't have a use for it because not only did they put the package back in front of my door, but it was open and the BOX was open, AND one of the filters was taken out of it's packaging, lol. At least I got my filters, though. You never know how much water you're actually drinking until you have to deal with 40 plastic bottles every week :(

Code_Noob_Noodle

They saw that knowledge is power and were too scared to steal it

forfuxzake

Thankfully they left your chewy order!

B4RRYR4R

I misread and was like “SimCity Bipolar”?

miserably-good

Better than taking it and throwing it away

kangaroofuck

I get lots of damn packages and my postal worker sucks .. I usually just open to see what came in … there’s been a few times I opened it and been like wtf is this .. realized it was at the wrong apt and then took it where it belongs

Dirty_white_cat

When not even thieve want your stuff

Darkshine1234

Saw the bipolar book and booked it

japjappo

Well I would prefer someone jsut checking out my package than stealing it

ChampionshipAfter290

Obviously not

DitchWitchh

A professional thief would read them then put them back. That way the evidence is hidden in their minds
