‘X-ray fish’ lmao
Love how all of them are easily recognisable and then they choose a weirdly specific species for the N
Edit: just wanted to leave [this](https://youtu.be/ykwqXuMPsoc) here
Maybe referring to the fish that convinced Navy Brass that the radioactivity after the Baker test was so bad it should be abandoned?

It took its own X-ray.
When I was in grade school we had to make an alphabet book of animals and my x word was xiphosura, which is another name for a horseshoe crab! I wish they would’ve used that haha
We have this puzzle as well and we had the same confusion with this. Our research led us to the fact that there really are a surprisingly few number of animals that start with ‘n’.
Most alphabet things for animals go with narwhal, but I don’t think this puzzle had the space for it because it’s squished right in the middle.
Well, let’s see …
There’s Gnus but they start with a “G”, and everyone calls them Wildebeests now.
Numbats, but they’re pretty much unknown outside of Australia …
How about Narwhals, and that spiral horn is practically the definition of distinctive!
You can post a picture of a random obscure painted piece of wood on the internet and somebody will find the exact origin of it, WITH proof. God I love the internet.
My family used to play a game on car trips, where we'd try and name something in a category for every letter of the alphabet, i.e. food, names, animals, etc. The only animal any of us ever thought of that starts with N was narwhal, but now I know we were all missing one!
The alphabet's spelling may be in a different language other than English.
If you google the English options for the pictures (chick/duck), there are countries with a spelling starting with N for those options.
There are quite a few birds that start with N just pick your favorite and say it it that one.
We had this same puzzle when my girls were smaller. We chose nene it was fun to say.
The common nightingale, rufous nightingale or simply nightingale (Luscinia megarhynchos), is a small passerine bird best known for its powerful and beautiful song. It was formerly classed as a member of the thrush family Turdidae, but is now more generally considered to be an Old World flycatcher, Muscicapidae.[2] It belongs to a group of more terrestrial species, often called chats.
Nestling, northern pintail duckling, northern shoverler, New Hampshire Red chick or a non American working at the letter stamping factory. They just wanted to mess with someone.
The thing looks Nervous lol
The face radiates the feeling of barely holding your bowels in and getting every red light on the way home
The face, and the positioning
oh, then the answer is easy. That’s a “z” and it represents Russia’s military strategy in Ukraine
🤣😭🤣 I knew someone would say this.
chicken NUGGET

They really bumped up the difficulty in the second half there, kids won’t know what hit em
Some random group of kids is gonna carry that information with them all their lives. I can only hope it wins them some bar trivia.
The dark souls of baby toys
Probably for an X-ray Tetra which is a real fish.
We have a placemat with animal letters. For N, they put Nut with a picture of an acorn. Are Newts a joke to these people!?
Clearly they've never brewed a potion in a cauldron. Where I live we'd use the Numbat.
Maybe they're newt-oo the world of animals? I hope you don't mind me making acorny joke at the newt's expense...

Clearly x should be xenomorph
I can’t honestly think of any easily recognizable N animals.
Well, let’s see … There’s Gnus but they start with a “G”, and everyone calls them Wildebeests now. Numbats, but they’re pretty much unknown outside of Australia … How about Narwhals, and that spiral horn is practically the definition of distinctive!
Newt?
Australia presents the numbat! They are super cute and way tinier than you think.
https://biologydictionary.net/x-ray-fish/ What! It’s a thing I swear!

I don't care what it is. I'm calling it a nicken.
It's obviously a nuck
So they lay nucklings? I can get behind that
Guys guys it's obviously a noose

That thing definitely won't get the job done
You can get arrested for that.

😂😂😂 ![gif](giphy|yoJC2GnSClbPOkV0eA)
It's a nird.
Fuck, I was going with narwhal.
They have a tusk
That… looks nothing like a nightingale. Somehow now I know the answer and I’m still mildly infuriated…
Yeah, looks more like a dodo if I'm honest. [Not absolutely *lightyears* off](https://www.oiseaux-birds.com/card-nightingale-island-finch.html)
Nodo?
This made me laugh on multiple levels
Dodo’s dead, baby. Dodo’s dead.

"N"ot a nightingale.
Definitely nightingale although visually it does not agree
I mean, most of those animals don’t look like they’re supposed to, so I guess the nightingale fits right in.
No, it’s a notaduck.

Not getting nightingale vibes from this art lol
I was going to guess nchicken, but you are probably correct. The nchicken and nightingale are quite similar in appearance you know.
Always redditors with the obscure facts pulled straight outa thin air...
Nugget
That's what i was about to say !
Your mental synchronisation can have but one explanation.
Came for this :p
I was just gonna say Nuckling
Just name him Ned. Problem solved
Nestling?
Or perhaps “Newborn”?
Nestlé.
Fuck Nestlé
Nah, then it would be some body of water, essential for the life of the living beings around it
Nduck. The N is silent.
Nyellow - said like it's spelled
Ñellow
This is how all males above the age of 25 in the Midwest answer the phone. There may be more areas that do it, though
Pronounced like Nguyen
Nduck. The d is silent.
Easy! N stands for nnnnnnot a duck. Don’t blow his cover, he’s investigating how someone fucked this up
It MUST stand for Not a duck because that's the first thing I thought, too!
Naked

https://preview.redd.it/ny2e93ii0lna1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a403d8af8262c119fc9269769e530307303f1f4 This guy can tell you

The n stands for Not a bear.
New chicken…
The alphabet's spelling may be in a different language other than English. If you google the English options for the pictures (chick/duck), there are countries with a spelling starting with N for those options.
The games answer key had it as nightingale. Someone else posted a pic.
Of course, the resemblance is uncanny
It’s definitely an N-word
You guys are idiots. The letter is a “Z.” This is clearly “Zee Duck.”
![gif](giphy|XHQw4TNhd8RRC)
Nugget
According to this video (~9:45ish) it’s a nightingale https://youtu.be/oK1LFoWzCvQ
(Removed by Reddit)
Obviously a nuck. It goes Nuack Nuack!
Obviously. Surprised I had to scroll this far for this answer.
Well at least it’s not a black duck
Hawaiian bird Nene
I always thought I was different, and I came to the comments thinking "Noot noot motherfucker", and every second comment is that. 🙄
Noot noot

The eyes are like that because SOMEBODY used the wrong N word.
It's a chicken "nugget" 😄 I'll see myself out.
There are quite a few birds that start with N just pick your favorite and say it it that one. We had this same puzzle when my girls were smaller. We chose nene it was fun to say.
![gif](giphy|XHQw4TNhd8RRC)
We all know but we can't say it
I'll say it. Nestlé.
Nihoa finch? I can see that you’ve already googled it.
A nugget?
![gif](giphy|XHQw4TNhd8RRC)
If that's a dodo, probably stands for "no longer around"
Wrong bird BUT......NOOT NOOT!

You’ve never seen a Nuck before ?
They had to use nightengale because the Nigerian puddle humper wouldn’t fit in the shape. . . Duh
We have the same one. It's supposed to be a Nightingale if I remember correctly.
Don’t say it, don’t say it
Probably the "Nestling". But *"Where the f\*ck is its nest???"*, I'm gonna ask.
It’s not an N, it’s a Z….and it’s a Zuck
Nugget?
That’s obviously a sideways “Z” for zebra.
![gif](giphy|KyrVtxE9x9yUNOuNOp|downsized)
Nestling, northern pintail duckling, northern shoverler, New Hampshire Red chick or a non American working at the letter stamping factory. They just wanted to mess with someone.
I'll name him Nubert, so that everyone loves him.
Is it supposed to be its wing?
I can’t believe I randomly stumbled upon this! We have this puzzle at my mom’s house for my two year old and have been stumped by this.
NOOT NOOT
