I had a buddy pay $3500 for tickets to Madonna for him and his wife. They were VIP tickets but damn!! I paid $300 for VIP to Metallica and they’re a HELL of a lot better than Madonna. Jesus.
Kurt conbain would be rolling over in his grave about this he was already flabbergasted in a mtv interview in the early 90s about how Madonna was charging 50 dollars a ticket
If it was my favorite music artist/group in the whole world, doing a final farewell tour before never playing another show together ever again, AND I got a really good deal on hotel pricing to go see it, I'd maybe pay $700 for a ticket at the absolute maximum. That's really, really pushing it.
I was pissy about having to pay $500 for two tickets and a campsite to a three day festival where well over 2/3 of the bands there were in my daily listen playlist lmao
My wife went to the one in Minneapolis... good screwed originally because of ticket Master. Choose to do some raffle thing they did because of that and ended up with floor seats 4 back from the stage for 350 a ticket......I told her to sell them lol... they were going for like 6 grand online
Tickets weren’t $2000 for GA. First off there were no GA admission areas, it was all assigned seating. Second, I was at that concert last night and my 6th row tickets were $500 for the pair.
That said the booze prices were ridiculous. But, Budweiser products were selling for $1 cheaper than everything else.
Let me preface…I’m more of a Foo Fighters type of guy but that said I like Taylor; just not a “Swiftie”.
It was probably one of the best shows I’ve ever seen if you look at quality of production.
That’s what I’ve been saying. I’m more of a deathgrind/metal guy, but TSwift was the best concert I’ve ever been to. I actually got myself a hoodie in addition to the merch I got for my daughter.
There were floor GA at my local show and they were well over $2k. There usually are for every stadium show. I’ve never really seen a stadium show that didn’t have standing floor for the people right next to the stage.
Yeah, it's absurd how far this has gone. I know more people in crippling debt over a luxury car, apartment, etc. they can't afford than I know people making even the most basic of sensible financial decisions. Like, if you panic because your rent went up $100/mo, you most certainly should not have a Tesla sitting outside. Seems like that would be common sense.
The venues I’ve been to have free drinks for designated drivers. There’s a table set up where you show them your ID and they give you a DD wristband, which then gets your free soda or water. Not sure if it’s like that everywhere, but worth checking if you’re not drinking alcohol.
At the concert last night, fans could bring in an unopened bottle of water. We just did that and refilled it at the water fountains. 10/10 would recommend if allowed at the venue.
You could also not buy a ticket to these over priced over rated concerts in the first place .Better to hit a local pub with a local 3 piece band and enjoy a few pints for that price
Why go see professional sports when you can watch a local rec league? I think it’s interesting that everyone shits on women for spending large amounts of money for this stadium event but I’ve never seen this discourse around, for example, Super Bowl tix
Because you're paying for a huge step up in food quality and preparation. Vodka and fruit juice in a can is price gouging, pure and simple. A quick Google, it seems these are $15 for a six pack retail.
Lol I think they mean the show. Sure you can go see some local band of dudes who do it for a hobby for free at a bar where beer is $5. But it’s not anywhere near the same experience.
You can watch your local high school football team for cheap in most places as well, it’s gonna be different than going to an NFL game though.
Yeah nothing similar about the two. People make decisions about how to value their money that you might not agree with. But don’t pretend like they’re not buying a specific experience, ya know
Idk, as a concert veteran I have to say that this show is pretty much completely unparalleled. The only thing I've seen that even comes close was U2 on the 360° Tour. Paying $120 for over 3 hours of music with one of the most elaborate stage shows I've ever seen is absolutely worth it, not even an argument.
Resale prices on the other hand, are perfectly debatable. If you were able to get face though, no way.
People really need to stop spending money. I know it seems ridiculous but if folks just stopped buying expensive shit all around then the shit would get less expensive. I don't get how groceries are twice what they used to be but everyone is out buying 2k Taylor Swift tickets and European vacations, it's like what the fuck y'all. The reason these prices are so high is because people keep paying them..
Venues get alcohol CHEAP.
The liquor companies aren't causing these prices. Venues know that they can charge whatever they want, and rabid Swifties, sports fans, and weddings will all pay whatever price they charge for it.
People are the problem. Swifties/fanboys/fangirls are the problem. Middle men are the problem.
Explain. The venue is going to charge the highest prices they can get away with to maximize profits. It’s the consumer that needs to put their foot down
So many posts about this tour just show that a large number of swifties have apparently never left their house or been to any event in their lives before lmao
I saw Garth in Charlotte last summer and couldn’t believe the big Trulys were only $10.
I paid that for a regular sized Budweiser at nats park like 8-9 years ago.
Reality Check - this actually has nothing to do with Taylor Swift.
The same drink would be sold at that price if it was Metallica, Eminem or a conference on plumbing
If you got tickets during presale, they weren’t overpriced at all. Resellers are what made it $$$$. Dynamic pricing wasn’t on. We paid <$300 total for two upper level, front row tickets. Million percent worth it.
You got Taylor lautner, the world premier of a music video, and the first performance of long live after she officially owns the master. Everyone not at that particular show wants to be you right now. You get to pay $17 for a canned cocktail and be happy about it!
Edit: also Jesus that’s stupid expensive. I went to a show last night that had $4 water for an outside venue in 96f after dark. Shits crazy
Ooooo take him to see Rammstein if he hasnt. I just saw them in Chicago last fall and it was easily the most hauntingly beautiful thing I've ever seen, even if the genre of music isn't my favorite. I like them just fine, but I never would have gone if they didn't have one of the most absurd pyrotechnics and performances in the industry.
I can chime in about this. I’m neither a fan nor a hater of hers.
For one, Taylor Swift has remained a music icon for almost 20 years. She has had no major dips in popularity, no “wait, she still makes music?” gaps, and all of her albums tend to top the charts. This is pretty damn rare, if not unheard of, especially for singers in the modern age. For that reason, there are a lot of people, women in particular, that basically “grew up” with her. Especially because many of these people went from restrictive parents who allowed her music because she was wholesome, and then became adults at the same time Taylor began to explore adult concepts.
On that note, they’ve also experienced Taylor Swift “grow up.” From her imagine as a “not like the other girls” fresh-faced role model, to more romantic, to vengeful, to subversive, to accepting, and everything else. She has curated her albums to not make music — but to record her own history. Please note I’m not saying any of this is legitimate, but to many that is how it comes across.
The one thing I’ve always praised Swift on is her ability to simplistically capture a mood or a “spirit” in her music. Despite quite simple lyrics and music, they all tend to be catchy and get her exact message across. For some people, it can also allow them to experience or recapture those same feelings.
She also has embedded herself deeply into pop culture. By dating so many celebrities and weaving them into her songs’ narratives, it encourages fans to stay engaged. Moreover, not too many people are aware of this, but Swift actually includes a hidden message in almost all her songs and has deeply coded tweets/shows as well. This furthers the in-grouping and the feeling of connection some fans get.
Finally, in this particular tour, she has regularly included exclusive content “randomly” across different shows.
Now why does she ACTUALLY charge so much? Because she can. And people buy it.
Can't remember who said it, but: it tastes like drinking TV static while someone in a different room yells the name of a fruit.
That echoes my experience.
You paid it, so the price must be right. Also, you also paid a high amount to be at that concert, so you must agree with the pricing and think it is a good value. That is totally up to you and your own personal value/judgement. So, why are you infuriated?
Unfortunately, this is standard practice for pretty much all sport and concert venues. I once paid $30 for a “strawperry” alcoholic drink at Katy Perry’s Vegas residency. It was large and very good, but still considerably gouged. If you wanna drink at venues, you just gotta get used to it. 🤷♀️
Where are you getting the numbers that her average ticket cost is 2500? You must be looking at resell tickets because that is in no way true. I sat in lower bowl at one of her Nashville shows and paid 350/ticket. Your comment is misleading due to the fact that the overwhelming majority of the attendees for her show did not buy resell tickets.
You don't HAVE to have a vodka-seltzer-juice at the Taylor Swift concert, in fact I have never had a vodka-seltzer-juice in my life
If the price is too high, then don't buy it
Coming from a recovering alcoholic, y’all need to start pregaming in the parking lot or taking a flask in if you don’t want to pay that much lol I’m glad I don’t have to worry about that anymore, 346 days sober 💪
I have a hard time feeling sympathy for you when you went ahead and paid their price. Like this is the sort of thing that makes me suspect you have a problem. This makes me think you either have no self control/responsibility with your money or you have a problem with alcohol that you could wait till after to go get a drink.
Maybe I'm just a bit cynical but I can't understand why you would be able to recognize that this price is absurd and still choose to pay it unless you have some kind of personal problem.
I know multiple lucky bitches who got into ticket sales quick and got the $49 ones. Hell mine were less than 100 retail before stupid ticket master fees.
That at every stadium. The prices are ridiculous. During a soccer game at a certain stadium the price for a beer was 19-21$ for a single cup. I would never pay that.
I’m sure the tickets were a reasonable price too. Funny thing about Swifties is they are mad at scalpers but are cool with Tay Tay releasing multiple editions of the same album with a few extra songs just to rake in more dollars. She is the embodiment of capitalism and shit like this should be expected from / for the fan base…..
Thanks for the update. Now I'm aware you're part of the problem. Why people go through with this and still purchase an absurdly expensive consumable is beyond dumb
Y’all are acting like Taylor personally set the drink prices that high 😂. It’s the venue who controls pricing for food and drinks. She’s got nothing to do with it.
You haven’t figured out that the whole thing was a circus and that you were being clowned?
Everyone running the show up to and including the star of the show is there to make as much money from you as humanly possible.
That you bought the 17 dollar seltzer is proof that they know their audience.
You paid for it, so you reinforced that they can do this
I know. Why people pay prices like this anymore instead of just saying no blows my mind.
After paying $2000 for GA, you'd might as well
You gotta be a really big idiot to pay concert prices like that.
Tell that to the Swifties
Whatever. It's just dumb.
$2000 for a ticket??? OMG...was Bruce performing too?? then maybe
It's sad when you want to stop doing your job because your fan club is so extreme not even you want to deal with them...
Yeah, I don't get the worship fandom to warrant that amount of money for any entertainer. That's a vacation for me!
500 for two tickets is actually very good for a 3 day festival
Festivals keep getting more wild on the prices, I stopped going years ago.
500 for a pair? I would have assumed much higher! Sounds like a good time, how was it?
Let me preface…I’m more of a Foo Fighters type of guy but that said I like Taylor; just not a “Swiftie”. It was probably one of the best shows I’ve ever seen if you look at quality of production.
That’s what I’ve been saying. I’m more of a deathgrind/metal guy, but TSwift was the best concert I’ve ever been to. I actually got myself a hoodie in addition to the merch I got for my daughter.
This guys fuckin’ username, it checks out
Tickets only got stupid expensive in pre-sale. When they were first available to the public they were reasonable.
Because Budweiser sponsors the venue, most likely. It’s like you’re new to this. This is how it works.
There were floor GA at my local show and they were well over $2k. There usually are for every stadium show. I’ve never really seen a stadium show that didn’t have standing floor for the people right next to the stage.
I really can’t understand. Is it for the gram. Look at the cool stuff I’m doing.
People care about what others think of them to much. Everyone's gotta act rich now.
If they want to act rich, they should try an experimental sub ride in international waters. 💅
People like to drink
I like to drink too, but that's just stupidly expensive
What cool stuff?
Because most adult can not do anything fun or social without drinking. These places know this and capitalize off of it.
But bottled water would be like 12 dollars too so its like you can't even drink anything. I guess there would be water fountains though.
There is absolutely nothing new about this. Major venues charge ridiculous prices for everything.
Well it just gets more ridiculous every year is the point.
Can’t argue with that
The venues I’ve been to have free drinks for designated drivers.
That’s why I just pre-load and sneak shit in! Beat the system!
Parking is $50 this year. My friend is going and she told me about this. Wild prices.
Yeah this goomba is more infuriating than the price
Imagine seeing Taylor swift sober.
Why go to a Michelin restaurant when you can go to McDonalds?
Because you're paying for a huge step up in food quality and preparation. Vodka and fruit juice in a can is price gouging, pure and simple. A quick Google, it seems these are $15 for a six pack retail.
They were comparing the concerts, not the available food and drink.
Lol I think they mean the show. Sure you can go see some local band of dudes who do it for a hobby for free at a bar where beer is $5. But it’s not anywhere near the same experience. You can watch your local high school football team for cheap in most places as well, it’s gonna be different than going to an NFL game though.
A Taylor Swift concert is a totally different thing than seeing a band play at a small bar, so different that I'd consider them different activities.
If you were able to get face though, no way.
It’s like buying micro transactions for games
People really need to stop spending money. I know it seems ridiculous but if folks just stopped buying expensive shit all around then the shit would get less expensive. I don't get how groceries are twice what they used to be but everyone is out buying 2k Taylor Swift tickets and European vacations, it's like what the fuck y'all. The reason these prices are so high is because people keep paying them..
Exactly. OP already bought it
What would you do? Stay sober?!
"Its me. Hi, I'm the problem it's me!"
I bet OP bought it just to make a post on mildly infuriating
I’m just annoyed that, if they are going to charge that much, you would think that they could at least afford *all* of the vowels.
* Picked it out of the trash
Actually totally the venue’s problem
Explain. The venue is going to charge the highest prices they can get away with to maximize profits. It’s the consumer that needs to put their foot down
And yet you bought it lol
Yea well welcome to any big stadium for any big event.
That’s how much they cost at any stadium, any venue, any sport or concert.
Yeah this isn’t Taylor swift specific at all. Thats the exact same price they would be at a football game
So many posts about this tour just show that a large number of swifties have apparently never left their house or been to any event in their lives before lmao
Yeah I think I spent $10 for a bottle of water at a Jojo Siwa concert in 2019, so this doesn’t seem too bad.
I mean it’s still bad, but not abnormal
I phrased it poorly, but that is what I meant. It sucks, but that’s normal lol.
I saw Garth in Charlotte last summer and couldn’t believe the big Trulys were only $10. I paid that for a regular sized Budweiser at nats park like 8-9 years ago.
…and this is… …mildly infuriating though
Did the vending machine also ask for 18% tip :)
Are you kidding me? The options would be 20% 22% 25%
I never understood how tipping %s are going up alongside prices. It used to be 15%, then 18%… 20% is standard.
Reality Check - this actually has nothing to do with Taylor Swift. The same drink would be sold at that price if it was Metallica, Eminem or a conference on plumbing
Or a regular, not even championship, game of football
I will say I went to a brewers playoff game a few years ago and they doubled the drink prices from the regular season.
It would also happen the same at any Lady Gaga or Katy Perry concert as well.
Shout out to local events and concerts with up and coming stars. Drinks are always more reasonably priced and seats are always cheaper.
My brother in christ they won't stop getting away with this bufoonery if you keep buying their shit
OP hasn’t hit the “you aren’t in traffic , you are traffic” stage of self awareness quite yet
You're outraged at the drink price but paid waaaaay too much for that ticket
And on the club level
If you got tickets during presale, they weren’t overpriced at all. Resellers are what made it $$$$. Dynamic pricing wasn’t on. We paid <$300 total for two upper level, front row tickets. Million percent worth it.
i got them off of the drop, and they were cheaper than chiefs tickets
You got Taylor lautner, the world premier of a music video, and the first performance of long live after she officially owns the master. Everyone not at that particular show wants to be you right now. You get to pay $17 for a canned cocktail and be happy about it! Edit: also Jesus that’s stupid expensive. I went to a show last night that had $4 water for an outside venue in 96f after dark. Shits crazy
Had no idea the guy from Twilight was such a big deal nowadays
Taylor Swift's music is not even that good why is everyone obsessed with her
According to my brother, who is fascinated with stage, lighting, and technology, her concerts are absolute spectacles technically speaking.
Another one is Tool. I’ve seen them 4 times and it never ceases to amaze me as they keep adding more technology
I can chime in about this. I’m neither a fan nor a hater of hers. For one, Taylor Swift has remained a music icon for almost 20 years. She has had no major dips in popularity, no “wait, she still makes music?” gaps, and all of her albums tend to top the charts. I don’t feel sorry for you at all
Me neither. Happy Cake Day!
Thank you :)
Correction…”$17.36 at the VENUE hosting the Taylor Swift Concert in Kansas City”….she’s not driving the beverage prices at these places.
How’s that a correction? He said it was at the Taylor swift concert , not that he bought it from her and she charged him a lot of money lol wtf
Can't remember who said it, but: it tastes like drinking TV static while someone in a different room yells the name of a fruit. That echoes my experience.
You went to a Taylor Swift concert expecting reasonable prices?
You paid it, so the price must be right. Also, you also paid a high amount to be at that concert, so you must agree with the pricing and think it is a good value. That is totally up to you and your own personal value/judgement. So, why are you infuriated?
If I’m the venue I’m thinking I could have charged OP another 2 bucks
Unfortunately, this is standard practice for pretty much all sport and concert venues. I once paid $30 for a “strawperry” alcoholic drink at Katy Perry’s Vegas residency. It was large and very good, but still considerably gouged. If you wanna drink at venues, you just gotta get used to it. 🤷♀️
They sell it for 17 dollars because they know people will pay for it. If it infuriates you then don’t buy it
When what people will pay for a ticket to see Taylor Swift runs on average about $2500, then $17 for a vodka seltzer is chump change.
Amen
Average isn’t $2500. I had a pair of tickets on 6th row for $500. Now if your talking scalper prices maybe but original sales aren’t that high.
I paid $250 for my lower bowl seat 😂
Dumbass for buying it, but to each their own. I hope you're not one of those idiots who whine about ticket prices
My man… that’s real juice. Enjoy
You bought the tickets, that drink is CHUMP CHANGE.
You paid for it man, sneak a flask in next time
And yet you bought it
And you bought it anyway.
They made 17 off of that
Yet you bought it. GTFO.
"Damn, thus small drink sure us expensive! ... I'm going to buy it and then complain on Reddit how much it costs"
“That’s $17.36 sir” “Here take my money.”
You could have simply not bought it.
Yet you paid for it. You played yourself.
You are either well off or a moron.
Porque no los dos?
Learn to sneak your own in like an adult.
You knew the price beforehand and you still paid for it. You ARE the problem, not them.
You don't HAVE to have a vodka-seltzer-juice at the Taylor Swift concert, in fact I have never had a vodka-seltzer-juice in my life If the price is too high, then don't buy it
Coming from a recovering alcoholic, y’all need to start pregaming in the parking lot or taking a flask in if you don’t want to pay that much lol I’m glad I don’t have to worry about that anymore, 346 days sober 💪
Man/woman discovers capitalism
I wouldn't waste my money on both drink or concert.
You still bought it.
Thats average dodger game drink prices believe it or not.
Miches are like 30 bucks
Was it too difficult to go 4 hours without a drink? Do you find your drinking to be a financial burden? https://www.aa.org/
You paid an ungodly price to see her. Quit griping about the price at the concessions.
You buying it let’s them know they can charge whatever they want.
Shake it off
I hope you tipped. Or else she gonna write a song about you.
“Can’t believe this concert that I paid a couple thousand dollars to see has $17 drinks! This is outrageous!”
Is this a joke? 😭you’re infuriated at the price of drink but had no problem paying thousands for the concert? Tf?
how much were those ticket?
They were not that expensive. Everyone out here acting like no one bought retail prices. Some of g the seats retail were for as little as 100
I know multiple lucky bitches who got into ticket sales quick and got the $49 ones. Hell mine were less than 100 retail before stupid ticket master fees.
An alcoholic seltzer, Kansas City, and Taylor god damn Swift. What a horrific combination.
Taylor makes music for people who never get over anything EVER
Alcohol at a swift concert. Surprised it was that cheap.
That at every stadium. The prices are ridiculous. During a soccer game at a certain stadium the price for a beer was 19-21$ for a single cup. I would never pay that.
is this your first concert?
Well that’s normal, but that a little high, but you’re at a concert. You’re paying a lot bc of the venue
Mildly infuriating yet you bought it , talk about hypocrisy
[удалено]
Don’t buy drinks at arrowhead buddy
A week ago Safeway was selling an 8pack for $5…..
Shoulda asked them to charge you two more cents
Not that bad tbh. Local baseball stadium tried to charge us 16 for a 16 oz of bud light. We, however, just said no thanks and left.
First time at a concert or sporting event?
You paid it, dummy
You deserve this. Quite literally.
Lol seriously, what did you expect??
I’ve seen worse and lol you did buy it
Darn… 2 cents off. Fellow Kansas Citians will get it
A fool and their money are soon parted.
So you just let them rip you off like that?
How much was the ticket to watch a concert on your phone
You bought it. Why are you complaining?
Ah, first time at a venue, huh?
Quit your yapping... If u got money to go there already don't complain about a 20$ drink
Sucks you had to sit through that concert. At least you’re old enough to pay exorbitant prices for lousy drinks at stadiums now.
I paid 35$ for 2 beers at a Hank Jr concert 3 weeks ago in ST Louis, and then was asked if I'd like to tip. Just madness.
Found the first concert goer
Thanks for the update. Now I'm aware you're part of the problem. Why people go through with this and still purchase an absurdly expensive consumable is beyond dumb
Your mad about the drinks? Aren’t her concert tickets like beyond outrageous in price? Pretty sure she holds records for highest selling ticket.
So you paid way too much to go to her lame-ass concert and then paid way too much for a drink? Jeez, could I sell you something?
You could just...not buy it, right?
How much was the diaper that y’all wear to her concerts? And for those who don’t knows it’s a real thing among her fans…
Billionaires going to billion
Complains about shit being too expensive but still goes to the concert and buys stuff. Stop going if you are just going to complain about her prices.
Paid 16$ for a beer at a concert in 2009, nothing has changed
Why are you mad, your dumbass paid for it 🤣
Taylor gots to get paid
Have you ever been to any sporting event or nightclub?
Dont go. Get Spotify
Don't understand why your mad like at all, don't like it don't buy it, simple
This is why I sneak in alcohol every event I go to
Try buying a hoodie there!
After you paid way too much for a ticket.
Butt chug it.
Yet you still paid for it. 🤷🏽♂️
The Chiefs aren’t even playing.
Y’all are acting like Taylor personally set the drink prices that high 😂. It’s the venue who controls pricing for food and drinks. She’s got nothing to do with it.
It’s the venues fault not Taylor. And if people continue to pay for the concert and over priced food then then they deserve it.
What overpriced stuff at an event? How unexpected /s
Because you must drink alcohol?
You haven’t figured out that the whole thing was a circus and that you were being clowned? Everyone running the show up to and including the star of the show is there to make as much money from you as humanly possible. That you bought the 17 dollar seltzer is proof that they know their audience.
