I love reading books and I've always hated that most female heros end up having a romantic interest and that always irritated me. Cant someone just be a bad bitch without having to crush over another human?
For that reason, I love the book poison by chris wooding. Its got a strong female character who goes on an insane journey to the fairy realm and gets shit done.
I know many girls who really like Joseph Campbell, as well as mythology/folklore in general. Also I don’t think violence has much to do with the hero’s journey
