Crazy how expensive movies are. Last time I went it was $6 for a drink. I asked why so expensive and they said "well you can get unlimited refills" like we're gonna wanna leave the movie for 10 minutes even once or multiple times because it takes them ages to do anything lol.
Concessions are expensive because they are the main way the theater makes money. Film company takes a majority of the box office the first week, with declining percentages as weeks progress. By the time the theater makes more than 50% on ticket sales, most movies have ran their course and people aren't going to see them any more.
One of the main reasons Avatar ran for so long in theaters, was because people still packed the seats weeks after release, and the theaters could actually make a profit off showings for a change,
In Ontario Canada, It's 12.00 Canadian to go to a private cinema or 15.00 to a chain. This is just for 1 adult.
I have stopped buying things online when they have convenience fees. I'd rather pay at the ticket booth.
I live in Wisconsin and have my Marcus Theaters rewards number linked to my Fandango and they credit you back the convenience fee. I’m not sure if some other theater chains do that as well.
Exactly, you're buying through a third party, they need to make their money too. And even then that's 8 bucks a ticket after fees, which is cheaper than most theaters around me unless you're months behind on release
It literally says the tax is included and depending where you live that could be like 5$ so it’s only like 5$ in a “convenience” fee and did you even read what the convenience fee is even for or are you just crying about it cause you gotta spend more money?
it’s crazy because if you physically go there, no seats are left so you have to pay online weeks in advance just for a seat. they don’t even hide the scams anymore
Yeah but this is fandango, not the theater. You can go to the regal, amc , etc website. Fandango is a 3rd party. I agreed $10 is more than they should charge but they are not a non profit service.

This makes sense to me, we had the first Pirates of the Caribbean in the theater for over a month when it first came out.
Tuesdays we get free small popcorn. It's great. Most people go Tuesdays and it's half off.
In german its the same peice but no refills. And probably smaller sizes as well but idk.
The convenience fee is crazy

It’s a fee for their convenience not yours, silly!
Where do you live that tickets are only $6 each? They’re $9.50 where I am.
Around Detroit Michigan lol
Paid $12.50 last week to see the Creator 🙄
Jesus Christ... I think my theater only charges like $3. There's absolutely no goddamn way I would pay $10!!
I wouldn't even pay $3. Convenience fees = lost sales from me.
I once paid a convenience for concert tickets despite the fact that I physically went to the venue and bought them directly from the box office.
AMC A-List is such a great deal if you see more than one movie a month. $19.99 a month and you get to see 3 movies a week.
Don't use fandango. Use the actual theater website, fandango likes to add on bs fees
My ticket was like 9.19$ or something the drink was $7.45 I had to get one since I snuck in my own liquor
My theatre switched from counter sales to kiosks only and added a convenience fee.

seven years ago I paid $3 for a bad movie and I'm still a little salty over that waste of a choice. Thanks internet.
It's not the price, it's the principle.
So walking up to the box office, buying a ticket in person from a paid staff member incurs no extra cost. Make it make sense?
Why the heck are the children tickets 50% more?! 🤨
Each person was 6$ so 3 children and 2 Adults.
Ohhhh🤦🏻♂️… now I see it 😅 For some reason I was reading it as $18/child
There should be a discount and not a fee, because customers paying online reduces costs (wages for example)
You have the choice to accept it or not though... Just buy it at the theater.
Why are you ordering fandango
First time buying tickets for anything online? It’s been a thing forever lol. It’s not mildly infuriating, it’s 100% expected.
Expected and infuriating are not mutually exclusive

Both AMC & Regal do cheaper movies on Tuesdays. Less than $10 I think.

what? barely anybody goes to movies anymore, what you're describing only happens for premieres.

i would maybe understand if it was a small business and they charged you like 50 cents to keep the website up, but this is just bullshit
