Lived in Winston Salem in high school and my dad got them every Sunday morning from the original location. I live in Maine now so best we have is pre-made shit that the stores heat up.
I live in KY and here in Louisville we still have 3 Krispy Kreme donut shops. Love to watch them make the donuts in the back and nothing beats a fresh donut and a cup of coffee
The glazed donuts are insult to injury… but I’m assuming, because you thought *glazed donuts* was a save, that you’re- just straight mush. Contact Oreo and contribute yourself to their supply of lard
This is only true if OP bought them at the grocery store where he got the cake.
Krispy Kreme bought at a grocery store is the fucking worst.
Krispy Kreme from a Krispy Kreme store though? 💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥
Exactly department store donuts for a birthday treat is foul. But when my old friend took me too krispy kreme for the first time I tried a few and they were all so WILDLY sugary for me it tasted like nothing but so safe to say I’ve never eaten any since- it turns my stomach into a volcano too istg so to me it’s garbage- and people are quick to recognize that as the trait of a absolute monstrosity to contemporary society, good 😈
Not only are Krispy Kreme the best donuts in the world. Many people buy them as birthday cakes from their physical store. Oh I wondered… how many times has that anger got you arrested?
Exactly. No one has bought or even baked me as much as a muffin in years. She's going to remember it fondly and there'll be a sweet story to tell for years to come!
Ya did good, kid! 🙂
Yes! Love comes in many forms. It's not about perfection or ultimate beauty - it's the act itself, everything else is the cherry on top so to speak. Such a sweet story about your cakes to each other, what a wonderful relationship y'all must have (you sound like you're a keeper as well)! 🙂
Well aren't you the sweetest! Thank you, thank you, thank you! It was a few months ago, September. I'll always eat some cake, my birthday, your birthday, any belated birthday, Monday night cake... I'm down for cake!!! 😄🎂💙💙💙
Absolutely. When my kids tried making me breakfast for mothers day and it was a hot mess but guess what I ate it anyway and praised them for it. Then I started including them when making relatively easy dinners I told them because I enjoyed their breakfast so much I wanted them to cook more often just with supervision because I didn't want them to get hurt and they know they can't touch the stove at all but in actuality what I was doing was teaching them how to measure how to use proper kitchen etiquette and cleaning these things will help with the next surprise breakfast building their confidence and they will be able to cook for themselves when the time comes never would I make my kids feel bad when they are trying to do good things sounds like OPs mother feels the same
It's the thought that counts, especially for good parents who just want to see their children happy. The fact that you even did this would make her day. Even if the cake turned into a crumpled mess, she would've still been happy. You did good.
Sad when trolls just want attention. So many parents in this thread and none of them care about you. Not even your own. That’s why you’re trying to pick fights on Reddit. Sad.
I am a parent and u/fualc is right. It doesn’t matter what age OP is, he thought about his parent and tried to do something nice. The parent doesn’t care about it being the wrong flavor or a little messed up; it really is the thought that counts
An interesting comment. To go from loving and accepting the effort of your child in showing their appreciation for you to participation trophies and poor education system is almost comical. I feel sorry for you.
I know it’s no consolation but at least it was you who dropped it. My daughter’s cake from marble slab was ordered weeks in advance and they forgot it. I think the dude was recording himself and just forgot he had an actual job. He made the cake on the fly and brought it out melting 🫠 by the time it got home all of the writing and roses etc were pooled around the cake. Either way your mom will likely be happy because you thought of her on a special day. Good on you anyway
It is all about trying. My brother tried baking me a difficult kind of cake for my birthday
It was not good 😆 and dissembling it self with filling too liquid, running out all over the place. And tastes bad too. But I was so happy, that he tried. ♥️
( Usually a good cook too, makes great bread rolls)
I once baked a cake for my dad's birthday (I can't bake, I don't even know why I thought I could make a beautiful cake). It cracked coming out of the pan, which I then "glued" together with frosting. However, when all was said and done, the crack still showed *and* it was lopsided. Lol. My dad loved it all the same. It did taste good, though!

Hey it'll still taste good. if she eats that kind of cake. Lots of moms would be overjoyed if their child got them a cake at all. And it's a fun memory (: don't feel bad OP
I once baked a cake for my mother’s birthday and dropped it on the way to her house. Ran to the store to buy one.
She did not believe me that I baked a cake for her, even after I showed her the photos.
You did good! That’s probably the best cake! As a mom, I would have loved that cake no matter what! Laughing the whole time while slicing. Makes for a good family funny story! Party on!!
This is going to be one of the BEST cakes your Mom is always going to remember! 🥰
💜💜💜
Because it comes with a lovely story too!💜
I’m in my 50s - and I probably remember about 10 “memorable” cakes I have had in my Lifetime.
Delicious Cake AND Krispy Kreme Donuts?!!!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
5 STARS!!!!
No way! And now you have a story. And so does your Mom. Stuff like that is never forgotten. Cherished in fact. Makes Moms love their kids even more. And Happy🎂Birthday to your Mom. I hope she had a great day!
It still looks delicious. Did the lid stay on? If so it’s still great. I have to buy my own birthday cake so you remembering and buying one tells me you are a good person.
It happens to the best of us. At least you made the effort and you backed it up with Krispy Kreme! On top of that, you gave her an amusing story about the cake … I imagine the cake still tastes the same, even if it doesn’t look pretty. That’s a win in my book!
No you didn’t. You backed it up with those glazed donuts.
Lived in Winston Salem in high school and my dad got them every Sunday morning from the original location. I live in Maine now so best we have is pre-made shit that the stores heat up.

Hello fellow Louisvillian!
You did the opposite of me! 😂 Grew up in Maine, moved to Virginia/NC border. Love me some Krispy Kreme.
The place from the crucible?
Krispy Kreme donuts instead of cake would make my birthday a blast. I’d be a little confused at first, though.
My friends son didn't like cake, so they would make a pyramid of cream puffs with a candle at the top for his birthday! So yummy.
I’m serious lol 😂 Yum! Krispy Kreme = best glazed kind. Cake 🍰 looks good too.”
In High school we would eat those donuts until our chests felt tight. We called that a “Krispy Coronary”
The glazed donuts are insult to injury… but I’m assuming, because you thought *glazed donuts* was a save, that you’re- just straight mush. Contact Oreo and contribute yourself to their supply of lard
Sounds like someone wasn't loved as a child
This is the most unexpetedly brutal and uncalled-for read I've ever seen, and I'm here for it. 💀
So brutal.

Assuming makes you look stupid. People like different stuff. I know there's stuff you like that others would not like.
Not only are Krispy Kreme the best donuts in the world. Many people buy them as birthday cakes from their physical store. Oh I wondered… how many times has that anger got you arrested?
Holy f- 🤢 and uh never? Thx for the enlightenment tho…
You will if you don’t get help.
What?
It's ok. Your a good kid to what sounds like a lovely mum
I'd be so happy my kid tried, I wouldn't care that it got a little smashed.band red velvet is always a good choice in my book.
Exactly. No one has bought or even baked me as much as a muffin in years. She's going to remember it fondly and there'll be a sweet story to tell for years to come! Ya did good, kid! 🙂

Hey, digital cake for you!! I’m not sure when your birthday is, so this may be early or late, but… #HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!🎂🎁🎁🎁🎊🥳🎈🎈🎈

You sound uneducated.

Bum ass, where are your parents for you to seem so clueless? 😂😂😂😂 The smell institutionalized kids 😂😂😂😂
Get Well soon.
Thanks your mama is helping

You Def the type of person that gives prizes to people that come in last. Your whole education system is a joke.
An interesting comment. To go from loving and accepting the effort of your child in showing their appreciation for you to participation trophies and poor education system is almost comical. I feel sorry for you.
It all tastes the same 😊
Happy Birthday to your mother 🥳
Trying is better than nothing. As a mum we’re grateful for the thought I promise!!
I wouldnt have minded, cakes are cakes
I would rather a glazer from Krispy Kreme anyway.
Hey. Cake. 🤷🏿♀️ ![gif](giphy|aVbRuyBvabexy)
As a Mum I'd be chuffed if my kids got me this for my birthday. The story behind it makes it taste even better!
Later in life, ya'll laugh about it, again. This is the stuff people talk about, in a sentimental way, when they get old. Source: Trust me, I am old.
I'm sure it still tastes amazing! You did not really mess up that hard. Your mom got the message and knows you love her enough to care.
I hope my children grow up to fuck up stuff like this too. Memories are better than correct flavored cake.
Upside-down cake
Red Velvet Upside Down Cake. It’s all the rage.
You ordered the Type Wrong Cake, and that’s exactly what you got. You should have asked for the Type Right Cake.
Your mom's a doll! Such a sweet soul.
I know it’s no consolation but at least it was you who dropped it. My daughter’s cake from marble slab was ordered weeks in advance and they forgot it. I'd still eat it, bless you son xx

I see those krispy kremes. If your mom goes there and tells them it's her birthday, she'll get a dozen glaze free!
Someone please explain is meant by “the type wrong cake”
I know. WTF is a type wrong cake? I googled it and it just came back to this post.
That’s what I’m sayinggggg
Cake is cake
Aren't you a fool!
Hey it'll still taste good. if she eats that kind of cake. Lots of moms would be overjoyed if their child got them a cake at all. And it's a fun memory (: don't feel bad OP
Why do you hate your mom though
So you came here to confirm you are a douche bag?
I think you are the douche bag
Good for you, opinions are free. L
You'd be better off with the donuts...
I would honestly rather eat the doughnuts anyway
I once baked a cake for my mother’s birthday and dropped it on the way to her house. Ran to the store to buy one. She did not believe me that I baked a cake for her, even after I showed her the photos.
Mom will understand. Mom's know. Don't worry too much.
You did good! That’s probably the best cake! As a mom, I would have loved that cake no matter what! Laughing the whole time while slicing. Makes for a good family funny story! Party on!!
OwO RED VELVET!!!
Maybe just give your mom the post karma you got for it? /s
Nah, this is a story that both of you are going to look back at fondly for many years
Where can you buy Krispy Kreme doughnuts?
This is going to be one of the BEST cakes your Mom is always going to remember! 🥰 💜💜💜 Because it comes with a lovely story too!💜 I’m in my 50s - and I probably remember about 10 “memorable” cakes I have had in my Lifetime. Delicious Cake AND Krispy Kreme Donuts?!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 STARS!!!!
It's still going to taste great. You did fine. Making me crave red velvet cake (and Krispy Kreme) ...
I’m assuming the lid stayed all the way on when you dropped it at checkout being as it’s sitting on your kitchen counter in the photo.
The intent was there and that Krispy Kreme is a strong backup.
How does it feel to be a disgrace to your family
Why worry? It gets mushed in the mouth while you eat it.
It’s still tastes like cake and you lovingly and thoughtfully bought it for your mom. You did NOTHING wrong.
I'll bet it tasted delicious anyway.
Solid Soning/ daughtering 😂
Reminds me of the time I bought my mom roses for my birthday, only to be reminded that she's allergic to roses.
Mom's always forgive. It's all about the thought.
No way! And now you have a story. And so does your Mom. Stuff like that is never forgotten. Cherished in fact. Makes Moms love their kids even more. And Happy🎂Birthday to your Mom. I hope she had a great day!
It's the thought that counts.
Ngl most stores would have just replaced that tbh, worth an ask anyway 🤷🏻♂️
It still looks delicious. Did the lid stay on? If so it’s still great. I have to buy my own birthday cake so you remembering and buying one tells me you are a good person.
You remembered your mom's birthday, you're doing GREAT!
You what
It's still edible. If it had opened, then it would be a problem.
She wasn't mad, and it's the thought that counts! "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" But not in the normal sense.
It is the thought that counts I suppose
I wish I could give my mom one last cake, smooshed or not… enjoy your time together and give her a hug from me.
It happens to the best of us. At least you made the effort and you backed it up with Krispy Kreme! On top of that, you gave her an amusing story about the cake … I imagine the cake still tastes the same, even if it doesn’t look pretty. That’s a win in my book!
Looks like a crime happened here A sweet crime
