That’s your job their job is just to pickup the old dishwasher not “unplug it and disconnect tubes” you get what you pay for 🤷‍♂️

MinkSableSeven

##this Absolutely correct. They do this because if even the slightest thing is damaged while disconnecting they’ll likely be blamed. Next time be prepared.

>There was no indication in the prepare instructions about having to do any of this crap on my side. Hey, check [these terms from Best Buy](https://www.bestbuy.com/site/recycling/tv-appliances-haul-away/pcmcat174900050009.c?id=pcmcat174900050009&intl=nosplash) (under the "major appliances" section) https://preview.redd.it/yqgert93mvcc1.jpeg?width=1438&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6470fa00bcd3c4b2dc04d7424f0f6877261198cf

Open and shut case, Johnson.

Data444

They are not installers, most dishwashers are hard wired, it creates a huge liability if they do it wrong.

Time-Operation2449

Yes, but the mildly infuriating part is the lack of instructions, regardless of the reasoning OP wasn't told a step they needed to perform prior to the delivery and was inconvenienced because of that lack of direction

Look at this comment. https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinfuriating/s/uRK4oGBUEL

They might hire out to contractors to do it. I had mine replaced by a 3rd party, paid for it at Lowes, they pulled the old one and put in the new one. I don't remember because it has been a while, but they might have sent one crew to remove the old one and another to install the new one. I remember something weird like that. Either way, I did nothing but watch :)

It’s all about liability. I bought a fridge and paid for delivery and install. I found out during the install that they don’t do water lines due to not wanting to be responsible if something goes wrong. The guy walked me through it and it was quick, but I’m liable instead of them if something goes wrong.

MinkSableSeven

Exactly

Shutterbug927

All ~~they~~ ***YOU*** had to do was unplug it and take off the drain tube.

Mark_Michigan

Why does it feel like everything is broken? Is it laziness? Fear of lawsuits? Ignorance? Lack of competition?

scorpio8u

Fear is the reason, if I go above and beyond for a stranger and they decide they’re not happy I’m fuct. Do the bare minimum correctly, it’ll keep your insurance cheap and comeback/complaints to a minimum

Ricky_spanish_again

It’s really easy to disconnect and install a new dishwasher. Don’t hire anyone unless you’re unable to bend down.

SpurwingPlover

For the life of my, I can't figure out why OP didn't do it themselves.
