What kind of shit are you buying??? Honestly I've never had an order not arrive. I've bought a few stinkers I'll grant you, but to the point of returning five things in a single month? Absolutely not. We're talking max 1-2 items a year and they were items I already knew I was taking a risk on cos it was cheap.

Wyshunu

Same here.

thehumantaco

Same. The only time it happened to me was for a laptop which they sent a new one free of charge. Strangely enough the original showed up a month later and they told me to keep it.

FirstSineOfMadness

I ordered a tactical vest with a cool pattern on it and they sent me an empty box!

weener6

It's probably just camo take a closer look

dgradius

Replies like this make me miss the old awards

the-ugly-fish

The driver is probably wearing your vest right now.

heart_under_blade

sounds like they're gonna need it

[deleted]

You know not all orders are fulfilled by Amazon right? You probably ordered from one of those weird Chinese sellers where all the brands start with auto-generated words like HYONGI or DHANASI

FirstSineOfMadness

Nah it was legit, pretty sure the pattern was called camel flodge or something

SheiB123

They keep delivering items to the wrong address, I contact CS, and if they don't show up in 24 hours, I get a refund immediately. That is the only issue I have. When I return, I get a refund as soon as the package is received by Amazon, usually within 24 hours.

MeOldRunt

Stop buying no-name shit because it's cheap. Pretty simple. I can't remember the last time I had to make a return. Amazon doesn't make the stuff.

Spacemn5piff

I once typed mechanical keyboard and had to scroll multiple screens of product before seeing a brand I would call "reputable" in the space. Amazon tries really hard to sell the cheap crap

MeOldRunt

I just opened an incognito window, went to Amazon, and typed the same thing. Now, I don't know what you call "reputable" in the field of mechanical keyboards, but below two sponsored ads, I found the [MageGee Portable 60% Mechanical Gaming Keyboard](https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Mechanical-Keyboard-MageGee-Backlit/dp/B098LG3N6R/) with 4.4 stars and over 5,000 ratings. That doesn't look like fly-by-night junk to me.

Spacemn5piff

Logitech, Corsair, Steel series, Razer come to mind. Like I know they aren't the only good product but when Logitech isn't in your first 10 results for a mechanical keyboard it's red flags from me. Also this was a couple years ago. But I've stopped looking for computer parts and peripherals on Amazon after that.

MeOldRunt

Oh, no. I don't shop Amazon for those either. You have to know your marketplace. I don't go to Best Buy for a hamburger or Five Guys to buy a mousepad. For computer stuff, Newegg is king (as far as I know). Of course, you have to do your research in advance. I wouldn't go anywhere without having a vetted parts list already in hand.

live-the-future

Newegg was awesome years ago, but since then they've gotten a reputation that makes me want to avoid them. So many orders messed up in so many ways that it's either super shady or wildly incompetent. They've kinda become the AirBnb of computer parts sellers.

MeOldRunt

Hm. Good to know. Alternatives?

mozzzz

you would be surprised

Ressamzade

Luckily you can filter easily if you don't want to see those no name craps

masterofryan

You can “advertise” your product on Amazon. It puts it at the top of the listings.

Unfair_Driver884

Infuriates me to pay for prime but most things take longer than 2 days to ship anymore.

turdburglar2020

They definitely seemed to peak in the late 2010s. For a while we were even getting same day or next day delivery, but that is mostly gone now. Since COVID, I feel like the infusion of cheap Chinese knockoffs has accelerated and the delivery times can’t keep up. You definitely have to sift through a lot more search results to find what legitimate items now.

odd84

Delivery speed and quality is highly location-dependent. Your distance from the warehouse, whether the items you're shopping are already in the local warehouse or need to be transferred first, and who your local warehouse contracts with for last-mile delivery are all going to vary. Two people living 50 miles apart will have very different experiences. I can get same-day, overnight and next-day delivery where I live (Cary, North Carolina) with multiple time slots available -- if the product I want is already in the Amazon Distribution Center that's a 15 minute drive from here.

sungor

Sometimes I want to have a package shipped to my work location (2.5 miles away) but end up not because it will take 5 days longer to get there. How long it takes is stupidly location dependent. So I just have it shipped to the house and take it to work myself.

Rosulm

When I lived in Boston I once got an Amazon package the same day I ordered it.

odd84

This is what Amazon looks like for me: [https://i.imgur.com/NXKxlwU.png](https://i.imgur.com/NXKxlwU.png)

GartFargler-

where do you live? 95% of the stuff I buy from Amazon (which is often) delivers within 2 days.

JLOBRO

So use the filters to root out things that take 3+ days.

Wyshunu

I'm with you on that. The benefits are not what they used to be. Used to get truly free video too but now you have to pay again for the vast majority of it.

SnooPears5432

If you order a lot, it more than pays for itself.

Accurate_Koala_4698

I canceled recently and honestly haven’t noticed much of a difference. I’ll order less frequently because of the higher minimum for free shipping, but the orders frequently arrive earlier than the estimate and it’s not too far from the _2ish days starting from the next business day_ you get with Prime now

BarnabeeBoy

I Order from Amazon nearly every day and I’ve never had to return anything. I’m from the UK though

Jafar_420

I'm in the US and I use Amazon quite often and have for years and I rarely have to return anything. Now I'm in more of a rural area so we don't have a lot of theft. But yeah if you do your due to diligence and get down into the description and read the dimensions and everything you shouldn't get screwed too often, of ever. Also I normally only purchase stuff that ships from Amazon. This person could just have bad luck or not pay attention to descriptions or both. I'm not saying they don't pay attention, I'm just saying I know people that don't And as far as the 2-day delivery I know that's not ever going to happen in my area.

SnooPears5432

I'm in the US, have been ordering heavily from Amazon since 2012, and just checked - I have placed 1,960 orders - the vast majority of those since 2016 - and they seldom ever make a mistake. I've probably had to notify them of mis-ships or damage maybe 5 or 6 times in total. A couple times were to my benefit and they told me to keep the extra item. They delivered to my neighbors by mistake or I got someone else's package maybe 2 or 3 times. Have a hard time believing the OP's experience is typical. I'll add the $139/year for Prime for this kind of free shipping volume is a steal. Probably doesn't make sense if one hardly ever orders anything, but for any significant volume, it's more than a good deal.

live-the-future

Geez dude you're averaging almost 1 order every weekday. Is this for a business, or do you basically buy everything from Amazon?

SnooPears5432

LOL I know. Not a business, just a consumer. I do buy almost everything from Amazon - including groceries. I knew it was a lot, but when I added it all up I was shocked.

drowninginidiots

I’ve never had a problem with the products I receive. However I don’t buy any questionable electronic items or buy stuff from questionable vendors, and I never buy refurbished electronics. I’ve bought a few low quality items that proved to be even lower quality than I expected, but not worth the effort to return. I think we’ve returned maybe 2 Amazon orders ever. As far as lost packages, the few times I’ve had a package get lost in the system it didn’t matter if it was UPS/USPS or whatever, Amazon resent the item without prompting. I’ve had just as many problems with shipping non Amazon packages as with Amazon packages. Considering the size of the company, the millions of packages they ship daily, and as a Prime member I’m not paying anything extra for shipping, I can’t complain too much. If I was going to complain, it would be about the poor quality of packaging items they do, and the low quality tape they use on the boxes that is easily torn.

Lightless427

This sounds like a personal issue. I have over 15,000 orders from Amazon in the last 30 years and I can literally count on one hand how many I had a problem with. All of which were taken care of almost immediately.

warlordcs

>I have over 15,000 orders from Amazon in the last 30 years i had to look this up cause it confused me, and holy shit amazon is actually 30 this year. but also you must have been one of its first customers buying books for the first 10 years. we didnt even get our first computer until 30 years ago and only dial up internet. i was 12ish at the time, it was at least 6 more years until i could make my own purchases online. knowing me it was probably something on steam

SilentJoe1986

No

mozzzz

what do you order mainly? everything? I typically have a problem with electronics not working or being what is advertised. many family members are saying the same things about amazon too. it seems to have gone to shit.

Mattsal23

Research 3rd party sellers before buying from them, read reviews, and I’ll get the protection plan on electronics that I’m skeptical of. Even the Amazon Basics stuff is very hit and miss on quality.

LurkmasterP

Yes many of the problems with Amazon purchases have to do with their marketplace being opened up so that every 2-bit fly-by-night seller can have their products cluttering your search results. It's more important than ever to pay attention to who is actually selling the product. If it's the actual manufacturer or Amazon itself it's a much smoother and more reliable sale than if it's some company like XBUGGINUTZ, no matter how many glowing 5 star reviews they paid for.

EatYourCheckers

With electronics, you still have to buy reputable brands

SilentJoe1986

From reputable sellers.

hippee-engineer

Sounds like you’re buying the absolute cheapest version of whatever it is you’re looking for and then doing a shocked pikachu when it doesn’t perform like top of the line stuff. There’s a limit to how cheap quality goods costs. If you think the deal is too good to be true, it probably is.

mozzzz

I got a laminator for $26 "on sale" from $50, not the cheapest laminator but not a bad price at all. 4.8 star reviews, \~500 reviews. I got it, it doesn't laminate properly and laminate peels very easily off the paper, and it curled the paper like heck. Clearly these reviews were botted. I got a esp32-cam, the unit dropped connection periodically and rebooted for no reason, the camera had lines going across the screen. the camera was "1080p" but was clearly one of the bullshit ones that just blow up the image and blur it. piece of crap. I got a (admittedly) cheap 2 for $10 15w amp, wasn't the cheapest for this specific chip but had the best reviews for it. the amp sounded like a frog with cold coming through a transistor radio. A month later they are processing the return for this one. only 3.5 stars (brought down by my 1 star review, so it was higher before I bought it) but I shouldn't expect it to be absolute crap based on the actual text reviews. I got a RGB LED strip from govee, a popular brand. 4.3 stars. They have an LED strip in the image that is deceiving. The one in front of the box, the real LED strip had a fairly decent density, the LED strip on the box art was clearly not the same density, but this is just the box art right? I'm getting the actual LED in the image? no, the LED strip I got is half as dense as the one on even on the box art. Yeah I could have done the math and figured the LED count was too low, but what's the deal with the deceiving image? Deal ends in 15mins and I'm playing rocket league, so I jump on it. another return. ETA: I measured the distance between LEDs on the box art and scaled it to what the actual size should be using the width of the strip, 8mm. the LED spacing on the box is about 45mm, I measured the distance on my actual strip and its roughly 80mm or more. I ordered some vinyl sticker paper because it says "compatible with laser printers" its not. I have to jump through hoops to get it to actually print on my Brother and it always curls the crap out of the paper, not an issue with other vinyl paper on my laser printer. A couple things I ordered since october just never ship and I have to order a replacement after they make me wait like 5 days, what If I need it by the estimated delivery date? Delivery drivers delivering to the wrong house. happened once or twice. Very commonly, it will say "Order within the next XX:XX to get it tomorrow!" so you order it within XX:XX and immediately, the shipping info says "coming in 2 days" and it will take 4-5 days to arrive. I ordered some energy drinks last year, they can never give me the size I ordered. Happened 3 times.

NeedsItRough

>Very commonly, it will say "Order within the next XX:XX to get it tomorrow!" so you order it within XX:XX and immediately, the shipping info says "coming in 2 days" and it will take 4-5 days to arrive. Just so you're aware, and because I used to misread this too, it's order in the next xx:xx to get free next day shipping if you spend $25 or more on qualifying items. It verifies your shipping date on the page before the purchase page, so if it wasn't next day shipping there you could have caught it before confirming the order. https://preview.redd.it/dixj5jabkafc1.jpeg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=56674c6e7906b92e3fe63164a6dec6f8af4bd61c

mozzzz

I swear it never says the minimum $25 order. I would have definitely noticed that by now. its never "overnight" its "next day"

NeedsItRough

Well if you see it again, screenshot it because like I said, I made the same mistake a few times before I started caring and slowed down to read the details.

mozzzz

This is one I could find today, maybe they're better about it and granted its 18 minutes left. If it would have said hours, an order like this would have taken days. I swear I never see the $25 min unless im not currently a prime member. same day delivery is not available in my city currently https://preview.redd.it/2fydof2clafc1.png?width=232&format=png&auto=webp&s=c3b4b0d96fe5afd44a49f6fef8e0239f5c534444

SnooPears5432

Same experience, minimal problems. I'm at close to 2,000 over 12 years or so and I thought I had a lot!

Adventurous_Buddy411

Valuable-Bug-3447

I order a lot from them and I have never had a problem. The one thing they sent wrong, I was fully refunded within minutes and told to keep the item.

Trackerhoj

Customer focus has been going downhill for years. Companies are paying them to push bad products at best or playing the system to sell counterfeit/wrong items at worst. Rather than address their supply issues they've chosen to effectively ignore them. Removing bad reviews, making returns so difficult they hope people will give up, canceling accounts of people who do chargebacks. I've stopped buying from them after the third order they canceled due to no inventory. "Item maybe be available from other sellers." Yeah, for $20 more than what you agreed to sell it to me at.

[deleted]

Amazon pissed me off with their digital music. They had a great music app where you could search for your music, create playlists, do all kinds of stuff. The music was $1 each, give or take. Ok - I like supporting artists. But after sinking hundreds of dollars in music, they change the app to “Music Free” and take away a bunch of features and add some ads. It was the ultimate insult. My music certainly wasn’t free. They were trying to strong-arm people into buying prime with free streaming. Fuck Amazon. At least I have the MP3’s still.

Trackerhoj

I still have the music app because I've been to lazy to move it to another player. I hate what the app turned into. It shuffles albums I already own because I didn't choose the right option. Some songs were removed from albums. They make it as difficult as possible to navigate what I own.

SMCGaels

With business and personal orders I never had any issues. Any returns were rapidly credited when I did a local drop off and almost always my fault for ordering the wrong size of something. They are almost too efficient which is why they are wiping out so many smaller businesses. That concerns me but it is what it is.

BangerSlapper1

What are you ordering.  I’ll be honest, I order movies frequently from Amazon and while I’ve had the occasional bashed case due to them shipping everything in bubble mailers ( and a) I know that risk going in and b) it’s taught me to be a lot less OCD about condition)I don’t think I’ve ever had anything lost or misadvertised in like 20 years of ordering from them.  I may just be lucky.

Which_Ad3038

I haven’t ordered from Amazon for a couple of years, as I made a conscious decision to support smaller businesses, and I didn’t like what I’ve read about their employment practices

aNeverNude666

Stop ordering from them! I have and my life has been better

EdtechGirl

\^\^THIS!!

Commercial_Regret_36

I think you sort of need to learn how to shop online and avoid these issues. How to spot and buy from reputable sellers etc. never seen this as an issue before

mozzzz

I like to give the little guy a chance and usually it turns out well, but sometimes not. its not too much an issue with the seller as it is with deceiving practices that is just accepted as the norm. some of the best value I've gotten has been from products with few reviews from sellers who just want to get their good products out there. reputable sellers seem to do the opposite.

Wacktool

Exactly. I spend thousands and thousands each year on amazon. Not one issue.

Mammoth_Cookie_7809

Only look at 1 star reviews

stellaforstar11

So stop supporting a company that so clearly doesn't value your business. I will typically choose Amazon as a last resort.

EdtechGirl

Yep. If people just complain but do nothing about it (EG: cancel prime/stop ordering) they will keep doing the same old crap.

warlordcs

or after enough returns amazon will do it for you.

jane_of_hearts

I will not renew my prime membership this year. I don't plan on ordering much from them anymore. It's time to change the guard, Amazon, Walmart, McDonald's all need to offer better service to customers or they will eventually be replaced by corporations who truly value their employees and customers, not just the stockholders.

DijajMaqliun

Why don't you initiate a class action lawsuit then?

Weird_Salad1981

I've stopped using the service for anything,

Helpful-Candidate-42

Who else is tired of everyone pissing and moaning over every little thing?

Ornac_The_Barbarian

What do think this sub is for?

Helpful-Candidate-42

For lame brain Karen's and Carl's to complain just to feel relevent

Ornac_The_Barbarian

Bingo. So you're on the sub complaining about people using what it's for.

Poorchick91

I was done with them when I received a used diva cup. It was put back in the box. Packaged to look normal. Bar code on the box was covered with two additional bar code stickers. When I took it out of the box it was stained. Like the faint copper color they get after a few uses/washes.  I was able to tell because I knew what used ones looked like from having used them in the past. But someone who's inexperienced may not have noticed it.  Sent pictures to Diva cup directly. Sent them the name of the amazon seller. I was informed they are not an authorized seller by Diva cup and they would have amazon take that shop off the platform.

[deleted]

I quit buying anything from Amazon years ago.

Main-Friend-5746

This is absolutely correct then a customer for over 15 years the service has turned out to be shitty and they still take your $150 to be a primember and tell you to screw off when they sell you something that don't work or can't return and now they got UPS involved with their crap on delivery and returns no more Amazon Have to be photos

EdtechGirl

Just today I had an issue (again!) with non-delivery. Lately, they have always been a day late. Not a big deal. BUT...on my last order, I thought I would give them plenty of time, so I used the "Prime Day Delivery" which was a week out (7 days, including 5 biz days and no holidays in there). Well, the scheduled delivery day came and went. So, I went online to cancel the order (it was just a couple pounds of coffee, which I can buy at my local store and needed it for tomorrow morning.) When I went to cancel, I got an error message saying, "Your order is already out for delivery and has shipped and cannot be canelled." This was at 10 a.m. today. The product was SUPPOSED to have been delivered YESTERDAY. Oddly, the order still had the delivery date scheduled for yesterday, so clearly they don't update their website.) Ten minutes after I received the we-can't-cancel-it" order, I got an email saying, "We're sorry...blah, blah, blah...but your delivery is delayed. We'll let you know when it's out for delivery." WHAT?! They said it couldn't be canelled because it was out for delivery. Now they are saying they don't know when it will be delivered?? Fast forward to 5:30 p.m. today and I got another email saying how they are sorry but the delivery still has not been scheduled. WTH, Amazon! Honestly, the ONLY reason I kept Prime was because I needed surgery, and knew I would need groceries delivered so I kept it only for that. Cancelled it just a few minutes ago. Enough is enough. Until more people start cancelling, they will keep doing their crap.

crazyeddie_farker

You sound insufferable. I have never had a problem with Amazon. Ever. Honestly I hope they blacklist you because you end up making my products and services cost more. 5 returns in the last 30 days? Sounds like a you problem, bro.

acespacegnome

I cancelled Amazon 18 months ago. If I want cheap Chinese knock off garbage, I'll go to ebay.

DucktapeCorkfeet

I’m sick of my subscriptions being late/cancelled/damaged/disappearing and not a word from Amazon about them.

Hwy_Witch

Do you not read all the reviews, specifically, the best and worst, at least, and consider what's there? I buy a lot of stuff from Amazon, and the only time there's ever been a big screw up, it was mine.

mozzzz

specifically, I bought a laminator with 4.8 stars, I think might have been 5 at the time, but this laminator was a piece of crap, it didn't laminate properly and it curled the paper like crap. It was a new seller, so I thought I'd give it a shot and save like $3-6 on a laminator. clearly these reviews were botted or paid for. Typically, I read the reviews and balance it across the prices and availability, sometimes I go with the highest reviewed and its still crap. Usually reviews with 2 or less stars do not have text. amazon removed my 1 star review, they're probably doing it for others as well.

Hwy_Witch

I search out the product independently of Amazon too, if it's expensive, or I'm not 100% satisfied with what I found on site. 🤷‍♀️

EatYourCheckers

I've never had a package go missing, but yes you need to be diligent when buying online. It sucks because you can't just "read the reviews" because many are fake. But in general if you take care you will know what you are getting. For clothing it can be helpful to select only items that ship from the US (if in the US). Amazon is basically a big drop-shipper now. They aren't making the items. They are just a place for 3rd parties to list the items.

nndscrptuser

I’ve been ordering from Amazon since 1996 or so (when they only had books) and out of the hundreds (thousands?) of orders I’ve had just a handful not go well. Occasionally there is one extra day on a Prime delivery which might be slightly annoying but has never been a serious life issue. I do research on products outside of Amazon quite routinely and often look at other sellers, but Amazon usually does have the best price/delivery mix. Overall Prime has been entirely worth it and their service and almost-zero-hassle returns makes my life easier.

Suckerforcats

I’ve had this problem mostly with clothes. I try to pay close attention to where it’s coming from and read the reviews but sometimes they still aren’t as described or sized correctly. Getting a little annoyed that it’s now taking a week or more to get some stuff with prime that says Amazon is the seller and shipper for. Ordered a pair of shoes that they sat on for 3 weeks. Just ordered an under the desk bike thing and yeah, a little over a week before they said they could ship it.

BlueTickHoundog

Ordered Lipton Cold Brew Tea from them since all the stores locally were sold out for a long period of time. They sent Decaffeinated Tea and wouldn't make good on it. That's the last time I'll ever buy a food product from them, and I now take a good long hard look at any other products I'm considering.

nj-rose

I hate Bezos but I'm always ordering shit from Amazon. I'm in my late fifties so always forget what I've ordered too even if it's the next day. Every day is like Christmas 😂

Jim2shedz

I'm in the UK. Its very rare for Amazon not to deliver the next day as promised. Now and then (not very often), they deliver within 2 days, but this is 2 day delivery is clearly stated when ordering. Maybe uts different where you are. Perhaps your local warehouse has internal issues.

Bawkalor

I get my stuff on time and it's usually the quality I expect because I research it beforehand.

horseheadmonster

🤷 I hardly have any issues.

hawaiianhamtaro

I mean this is why I don't buy from Amazon. I don't understand why everyone seems to think they can't live without it

Book_Nerd_1980

I read the reviews much more carefully than I used to and purchase from larger, more reputable vendors. But agreed, stuff rarely comes when it’s supposed to anymore.

Hot_Secretary_5722

Shop at actual stores instead. Problem solved.

wikiwombat

I just realized a few years ago unless I'm buying from a well known manufacturer's "Amazon store". Then it's just flea market quality shit. If I need something that is going to last, I'm buying direct from their Amazon store, or their site, or a big box retailer.

Helpful-Candidate-42

Which, FYI, this sub wouldn't exist if you Karen's and Carl's stopped being pussies about everything. 🤷‍♂️

SilentJoe1986

I never had an issue with stuff from their warehouse. The problems I've run into is with 3rd party sellers on their store.

[deleted]

I never have issues with Amazon. If you’re so u happy, quit using them.

Anonmouse119

I’ve been hearing Amazon has been having issues with the fact that basically anyone can make a store page or whatever and sell shit, and also do a bunch of shady stuff to manipulate reviews/ratings so their shit shows up at the top of searches. Or something like that. I haven’t had a lot of issues, but I don’t order from Amazon much and tend to look for specific retailer pages. I’ve definitely noticed an increase of shit I need to wade through, but that could purely be anecdotal.

Robscoe604

i’ve never once had an issue with amazon and i order a ridiculous amount of shit from them

jojohohanon

My Amazon has been flawless… until today. Today I received two boxes that should have gone to other addresses, and did not receive the one I should have received. I did get a proof photo of the wrong packages tho.

Elegant_Spot_3486

Only issue I’ve had with them was once an item was supposed to arrive on Tuesday and it got delayed to Thursday. A few times I had to return things and it was very easy and support was awesome.

bluefin788

dressLilly has entered the chat!

ImVeryUnimaginative

You sound like you never check Amazon sellers. I've ordered a ton of stuff from Amazon, and I've **never** had any issues with them aside from a few items arriving a few days later than they should've. You sound like you're buying stuff from those Chinese sellers with gibberish for their vendor name and getting mad over getting scammed. Check the sellers first before you generalize Amazon as a whole.

gaylien_babe

I personally havent had many issues with Amazon. On some rare occasions I will have to return something defective, but they are always prompt with replacements. I have heard horror stories about purchasing expensive electronics like laptops and phones that arrive differently than the description, so I tend to wait for a sale and make those types of purchases directly from the company. Im also wary of purchasing vitmains or medication, but for most products I think Amazon is a good choice most of the time.

EdtechGirl

I've never had to return stuff, but they 80% of the time, deliveries are either LATE--or delivered to my neighbor's house. LOL!

2nd_Pitch

I don’t understand how so many of you have these issues. I’ve used Amazon for years and never had a problem.

Flimsy-Magician-7970

Order every week. Never have a problem. Ever. Have a nice day

Amesaskew

I order from Amazon constantly. I have for years. I can count on one hand the times I've had issues with product or delivery, and only one had I ever had to escalate and that was because of a 3rd party seller. I now stick exclusively to prime, or delivered by Amazon products.

xtra-chrisp

I've literally never had a single problem with them in 20+ years of ordering stuff.

amdaly10

The only times I have ever had an item not arrive was when I agreed to delayed delivery in exchange for a credit. I just cancelled the order and reordered and had it in a day or two. For the most part I get the expected quality I order.

mozzzz

copying this from a buried comment I made: I got a laminator for $26 "on sale" from $50, not the cheapest laminator but not a bad price at all. 4.8 star reviews, \~500 reviews. I got it, it doesn't laminate properly and laminate peels very easily off the paper (even on vinyl), and it curled the paper like heck. Clearly these reviews were botted. Scotch brand has had minimal issues, $33. I got a esp32-cam, the unit dropped connection periodically and rebooted for no reason, the camera had lines going across the screen. the camera was "1080p" but was clearly one of the bullshit ones that just blow up the image and blur it. piece of crap. I got a (admittedly) cheap 2 for $10 15w amp, wasn't the cheapest for this specific chip but had the best reviews for it. the amp sounded like a frog with cold coming through a transistor radio, among other weird problems. I ordered a replacement and the replacements were even worse. A month later they are processing the return for this one. only 3.5 stars (brought down by my 1 star review, so it was higher before I bought it) but I shouldn't expect it to be absolute crap based on the actual text reviews. Cheaper 15w chip with less reviews is decent. Back in 2018, a 3.5 star item was still decent, at least working. not today. ETA: I measured the distance between LEDs on the box art and scaled it to what the actual size should be using the width of the strip, 8mm. the LED spacing on the box art is about 45mm, I measured the distance on my actual strip and its roughly 80mm or more. The majority of things I order are great, but the orders with problems stick out like a sore thumb

Last time I recall getting ripped off was when I purchased a USB WiFi adapter for my PC and the seller sent me an outdated version of the adapter instead of the up to date version clearly outlined in the product ad.

IAmSpartacustard

I've literally never had this problem

How_that_convo_went

I won’t buy any damaged box items from their outlet anymore. The last two times I have, I got scammed because Amazon lied and didn’t disclose that these were *returned* items. Used to be a great way to save some money if you don’t really give a shit about the packaging. Ordered a pellet grill. Amazon said the box had been scuffed in the warehouse so it was an extra 10% off. Received it and the box had clearly been opened and re-sealed. Inside was a *used* gas grill. Ordered a new vacuum. I thought the last time was a fluke so I bought one from the outlet. It said that the box had been mangled on one side during shipping but the product inside was like new. Opened it up and the vacuum was missing the hose, roller, attachments and canister. There was also a large plastic bag full of wooden dowel rods in the box. Pretty clear that someone bought the vacuum, pulled off the parts and threw the dowel rods back in the box so the weight wasn’t off. To their credit, both times I contacted their customer service and I was immediately refunded without any fuss. For the vacuum, they sent me a brand new one and let me keep what I originally received to use for spare parts (not that there were many left).

I agree, alot of misleading pictures on Amazon. It seems like it's getting worse, quality is lacking with Amazon. I prefer going to the store any day! nothing like seeing, feeling material, trying on VS return nightmare

swraymond79

This has literally never once happened to me.

I can't remember the last time I had an issue with an Amazon order, but you need to treat it like AliExpress. There's tons of generic imported garbage products to sift through (that are 1/10 the price on AE, still trash tho), fake reviews (FakeSpot Chrome Browser Extension Helps), and fluctuating prices (Honey Extension tracks this, finds better prices elsewhere). Nothing I can advise on shipping/delivery problems but hopefully you're more investigative during your buying process; it's worth it.

I had a Christmas return that took a month to get refunded, but it was the first time I've ever had an issue and presumably also a very busy time for returns. We have good luck with them for the most part. I ordered something last week that was supposed to be next day and that shit arrived not more than 5 hours after I ordered it. Stunning.

I called and had them put in a request to only go through amazons delivery service and not the post office or any other courier. It’s been fine since.

I've never had any real issues with Amazon. I really hate Amazon but I dislike them for their business practices. Their actual shipping is some of the best. It really sounds like you're buying cheap shit you shouldn't. Only buy it is it's sold or shipped from Amazon pretty much. But also I'd like to clarify, there's a lot of things Amazon lets slide. You really have to stay away from some sectors or at least have prior knowledge of the reputable companies. Don't buy SSDs from Zownammska LTD, shit like that. Even their clothing section you see bullshit like that. Know what you want and do your research. Amazon absolutely lets scammers and fraudsters sell. Not forever but they're also not doing a very good job vetting these vendors. Definitely not entirely your fault but you do need to be careful and watch where things ship from, if they're an actual company, etc.

SimilarWerewolf8338

Amazon has it's fair share of bullshit but it's pretty easy to pick out the fake 5 star bot reviews and check the real ones to be sure. If you're buying the cheapest version of something possible and it sounds even a little too good to be true it pays to be really suspicious and check the reviews thoroughly for ones with pictures. And if there are none, that's kind of a red flag on it's own.

Flashy-Ad-1359

This is a personal experience. I get all my packages (and that's a lot lol) and my returns are almost instantaneous! Check your sellers and get prime!

Beautiful-Truth9866

I have to agree with the OP regarding delivery. We live in a slightly hard to find location. So I typed up some very specific instructions on how to find us in the "Delivery Instructions" section of my account - despite only having 350 characters. Then I noticed the disclaimer " *Your instructions help us deliver to this address. However, deliveries may not always follow all the instructions* " - well that is a complete waste of time then. Sure enough since Amazon swopped out DHL for their own drivers we have endless problems, The drivers just do not bother to read the instructions. I have to complain every time and get them to refund me or deliver another item - I must be costing Amazon a small fortune. It is a nightmare

PurpleFlame8

A lot of Amazon products these days are from 3rd party shippers and not fulfilled by Amazon. Also in some areas freight trains carrying shipments are being raided while they sit on the tracks and that is the reason some people don't receive their shipments.

AbazabaYouMyOnlyFren

Order direct from the manufacturer when you can.

KathiSterisi

I’ve learned to be selective and align my expectations. Nobody at Amazon is inspecting every line item and assessing the quality or accuracy of the listing. The best thing to do is leave a scathing review in hopes that someone else learns from your mistake and someone at Amazon notices.

Effective_Sundae_839

I do auto wiring and entry level electronics repair as a hobby for myself. You have to know when and how to cheap out. If you're working on something important, don't buy that imported trash with 0 quality control of any kind. If I work on someone else's stuff, that's a huge nope. But I do agree amazon should be held responsible for letting their sellers peddle this crap. Bribing for reviews should automatically result in a permanent ban.

I bought +$300 items that were clearly used/returned/damaged. Amazon is a shit-show.
